Vampire Savior: advanced link combos & important notes

My mash is better than Kajoq’s mash.

amazingly, there were around 20 people in the room yesterday. I’m new to the game, and that’s the most i’ve seen in that room period.

I know my place on the Totem pole, lol. Also, since I was using characters in the game and not “the quarter”, I couldn’t be on the list. But I’m the best Quarter player on GGPO. I’m always putting you in 50/50 situations baby ;D

I don’t play quarter any more, I always lose.

Thats what im thinking. I absolutely suck at this game and was just running through people on ggpo. That is until i finnaly got to play someone who knew what they were doing and got smashed and pee’d on 50-0. GGS HK-47, fun matches

The tough thing is that there’s a very huge disparity between player skill. There’s no real novice players, so to speak. There’s just complete beginners and intermediate/experts. So, beginner players come in and they either play:

  1. Other complete beginners, playing the game kind of like ST or something,

or

  1. They play an intermediate/expert player who understands the flow of the game (not to mention all the weird gameplay mechanics like push blocks, tech hits, throw option selects, which chains are the best, dark forces, and probly some other stuff I forgot), they get fuggin’ TROUNCED, and then get discouraged and never want to play the game again.

There really needs to be a sort of mentoring system for the VS room, or at least some place they can go to figure out how the game works. gbursine’s contributions to the VS Wiki were really nice, but there’s still no substitute for being able to put the stuff to practice.

I just had this genius ass idea for new players to learn. I believe FBA has a record input function doesn’t it? what we should do is create a training mode setup by recording stuff to walk beginners through the game. Like you can program the dummy to do multi hits so they can practice push blocking and ween them down to single hit timing. Do the same training concept to alpha counters. Some chicken guard tricks etc…

so does anyone know if there is a way to record inputs and save them to your computer so we can exchange the files? kinda like a save state but for inputs?

does that make any sense???!!

if it happens, it means every game on ggpo would get a tutorial going into the game which would be a HUGE benefit for everyone. I wanna learn to play kof damn it!

it would be really hard to program text but I have alternate solutions for that.

Dandy J compiled a nice tutorial for KoF if you look on YT, but that’s some other game.

I would say the best way to learn something is through practicing with real live people. That’s how most of us learned the game. I picked up thigns just from watching and asking questions, but Jamie is right when it comes to the player base.

Now I really wanna play HK-47…but SSFIV is going to consume my life in less than two weeks.

perhaps I wasn’t clear enough. Dandy J’s KOF tutorial is just that, a tutorial. What I want to create is an interactive tutorial to allow beginners to train.

For instance lets say this is lesson 1 tech hit:

lessons 1-1, push block 3 times on a multiple hit chain
lesson 1-2, push block a double poke chain
lesson 1-3, push block a single poke

by recording the dummy inputs and saving them if possible, new players can download the recorded dummy inputs and we can basically create a mini VF tutorial mode where NEW players are interactive with the learning process. If we did this for the things that matter in VS, we wouldn’t have to train new players about the mechanics because they can train themselves. They then can come into the room and start picking up on the flow of the game and matchups.

Does anyone know if you can record inputs? I will create a small scale demonstration to show what I want to do.

I want to create the equivalent of a 3s training mode.

Not on standard emulators, that I know of. In playback mode most don’t accept new inputs. You’d have to get some fancy scripting done in a more complex one like Final Burn Re-Record*, or use an outside macro program (have it start with load state to it’s always synced). An outside method would probably be easier.

*I know you can program 2 player inputs in this but I’m not sure if you can playback and have it accept new inputs, maybe using the LUA engine.

I remember B-IzM used to have sessions where he’d sit there as Demitri and throw fireballs at you until you could tech hit consistently. But, the bad thing about GGPO is that there’s not a tried and true training mode. Best bet is to use cheats for FBA and P2P it if you want a truly interactive tutorial with another player.

Is this written on the actual board? I can’t tell from ebay pics.

When you first boot the game it will show a 6 digit number. The version used on ggpo is 970519, but thats the euro rom.

Its probably not gonna be on the outside of the board anywhere unless someone wrote it on for some reason, which is very unlikely.
I don’t think theres any major issues with the different versions of VS like there are with games like XvsSF

Minor character changes is all.

5/19/97 is the most common version anyways.

wowowow I almost forgot who Tetsu was, but he’s mad OG. hahaha

We almost forgot who you are! Come play some Mags! SF4 is lame and VS is RAW

This shit is so raw, polar bears ain’t fuckin wit it.

Tetsu’s always been around man. Can’t forget our Florida boys (Nick, Shoultzula, NFinity)

Tetsu is good now. :stuck_out_tongue:

Hello people.

Just checking in to say that I didnt quit the game or anything. Just wanted to let you guys know that before I assume by God of Might powers over SSF4 today with chars other than Cammy.

Random thought, anyone think we should make an IRC channel for VS? Kick it in there instead of the ggpo room? Make some matches or just dick around?

Anyway ggs Stankin

MAG!!

We should play a match in SSF4. Test the connection or whatever. I’ll record it
