How do you fight against Bishamon as Lei-lei?
It depends on the Bishamon player. Lei-lei’s j.MP is very handy in that matchup, as is her c.HP whiff HK, and basically all of her LPs.
You don’t want to fuck around with her special moves too much because that’s just going to waste time and leave too many openings for Bish to start is lockdown train. Mainly you want to get good at finding his rhythm so you can pushblock his dash attacks and staggers. Next step is to shut him down in the air and keep him out of the air. Best way to keep him out of the air is f+HP whiff HK or chickenblock j.MK or even chickenblock airdash. And then on the ground you gotta learn which pokes work in which situation. Also getting in on him can be hard since he can anti-air you so easily and outrange you on the ground, but basically you want to vary between IAD, jump back late airdash, and normal jump, to appraoch from the air and from the ground you’ll just need to walk and take it slow.
Bish is a pain in the ass to fight against but the main thing is just to exercise your patience. If you’re patient you’ll win eventually just simply because he doesn’t have much of a mixup game where-as you do.
how does bishamon anti air anyone easily?
(only thing comming to mind is jump early mp > whatever)
Bish AA’s
Dash mp early
Dash cancel hp/Close HP
jump back mk/rh (depends on distance)
Not easy, but he does have them. Can even set up unblockables depending on distance of the AA
Honestly, I dont find bish very hard to fight with Lei lei. But Xenos tips are decent for the match up. I do disagree that bish AA’s Lei lei “easily” Though, I dont see that one at all. Lei Lei could actually jump around bish all day if done properly, He doesnt have the greatest AA’s
the dash mp, hp seem more like offensive anti air, aka, “hi! ive got some pressure going outside of the corner, i think your gonna jump, TAG”
His f+HP beats everything, the only issue with it is that you have to not be holding a charge otherwise you get slashy instead of f+HP. Also his vertical jump mp/hp does win air-to-air. 5HP and dash-HP and dash MP are good but not as good as f+HP. Plus in the case of Lei-Lei if she is using j.HP too much you get free pushblocks so you don’t even need to worry about her jumping if she abuses j.HP. The thing is, if she airdashes you can anti-air but you don’t even need to, you can just chickenblock and she gets nothing because you just j.MK her in the face, and if she normal jumps you definitely get an anti-air for free. The only way Lei-Lei can really approach is by varying low IAD with late jump back high airdash and hope that fucks with his anti-air timing.
Also jump back, Pendulum cancelling to swing in. You have to be careful not to do the jump back from too close or you’ll get AA’d before you can get high enough to avoid his normals.
Another thing is once you can get a little footsie game goign you can do things like dashin c.LK c.LK (blocked) IAD HK to low crush his counter pokes.
It can be a really frustrating match though, thats for sure. Especially online - bish seems to be one of the chars who causes GGPO to chop up the worst and makes it that much harder to tech hit/not get frame trapped.
What’s up cool vampire fellow?
Uh…hi?
I’m actually starting to play more on ggpo and I cannot for life oh me make use of felicias command grab. Can anyone help me with this, because i thought it was supposed to be your goal to land as many as possible buttt… i can’t land any.
I dont know how your having a hard time landing it. Basic SF mind games, tick throws, pressure. I wish i know where magmans Felicia guide was…
I had it on my old laptop, but I kinda overlooked it when I backed up my hard-drive.
But, listen to Aya on this one. All of your basic SF tricks will work here, it just becomes a matter of making it work with Felicia. I think Felicia isn’t all about landing throws, but more about working her mixup game and throwing her overheads, abusing her cat spike (dp+P) frame advantage, pressuring with her range pokes and her oki games. Felicia also has a pretty damaging combo in lp,mp~ES Cat Buckle (QCF+PP) (I use ~ because it’s a link, not a cancel). Felicia also has a good sweep that’s fast and safe on block. Her standing MK and crouching mp have good range. Stand RH has good range, but I don’t ever try to fight at that range with Felicia. Her Jump Fierce is really good, as are her jump mk and roundhouse.
Some steups I learned for command throw were: lp cat spike> ES command throw , jump in fierce , low lk walk up command throw.
I don’t know the exact properties of Felicia’s throw (i.e. if it has invicibility frames or not)
More important than command throw is learning how to really utilize empty-Air chains with Felicia. Spend some time hopping around and learning all the angles on her air normals and practicing different patterns to mix up approach and attack angles.
j.LK -> j.HP
j.MK -> j.HK
j.LP -> j.LK
etc.
Her command throw is quite good, but I wouldn’t stress about fully implementing it until you get a good feel for her overall gameplan. Throws in this game take a little getting use to.
Once you get people on the defensive though, c.LP -> walkup HCB+K and jumpin MK (land) scoot up throw are both setups you’ll be able to catch people with.
I’ll dig around for the Felicia guide too. I recently did a Win7 install and have files in a buncha different random places… just gotta dig it up. I’ve got the Jedah one too
I miss Vampire Savior :’(
Someone needs to buy this. Pretty nice deal for A+B
What’s the technique for consistent one-hit techs? I can only manage about 5 inputs during guard stun. Game is stupid sometimes if you can’t tech consistently.
Learn to do 6
If you’re not consistently and frequently getting one-hit techs with 5 inputs, you’re not actually getting 5-inputs to register. You should get consistent one-hit techs with 4, as that gives you a 50% chance to push back. 5 is 75%, so that’s pretty consistent. Err, I didn’t mean this to sound rude, I’m just saying you should look into whether you’re actually getting 5 inputs. You might not be doing them fast enough, or you might be hitting buttons at the same time without even realizing it.
Yeah, simultaneous inputs don’t count towards the pushblock. You should tech a couple times and then try doing the same input just out in the open off nothing, if you get an accidental darkforce activation then you’re not really getting 5 inputs.
Also you can only push during blockstop, not just any time during blockstun. Otherwise it’d be way too easy, anyway.
