His Leilei was pretty nice too. He was doing a good job with jump -> lair Air Dash mixups. he just didnt have the overall experience or setup knowledge
I’ve seen the guy on a few times in the last week or two and hes never been playing Vic. Usually Morrigan or Lilith
From what i understand Kame Doesnt want to play victor anymore. So when he said to you “no he cannot” That probably means he just doesnt play the character anymore. Kame is a very humble player(and awesome at that) Not to mention he is awesome at VF as well but I know that has nothing to do with this.
Do you happen to know why he doesn’t wanna play Vic anymore, or who he wants to main these days?
Something I noticed about Japanese players is that they’re all strong with at_least two characters. I remember the first time I played Takahashi (high level Talbain/Gallon player), and his Hsien-Ko is pretty intense. It’s funny, cos before I ever played his Talbain, I was like “Man, there’s no way his Talbain could be much better than this, right?” Haha, well I was WRONG, lol!
It’s amazing to play him, because it kind of feels like you’re playing Zangief in ST; sure, neither of them have many tricky ways they can approach you, but Takahashi, like a good ST Gief player, will see one opening and go “yep, you’re dead now.” I envy the ability to do that to the extreme degree that Takahashi does it.
That’s how I felt playing any Japanese player (although some are really better than others) Most of them are good with multiple characters and I can imagine getting bored of one character after playing them at such a high level for years and years and years.
But what I think that really distinguishes the Japanese players is there ability to deal maximum damage when the situation calls for it AND reset you into some sort of tricky situation. I really admire that because it seems like-in my gameplay- that I’m lacking the ability to truely mindgame someone into a situation where I’m most likely going to deal damage.
I assumed it was either like you were saying Aya- that hes just bored with the character
Or, he doesnt ilke playing Victor online because it just makes his weaknesses that much more prevalent.
His Lilith seemed the most complete out of the chars he played against me. We were having some really good matches. AGs all over the place and really tight footsies. At one point I got 3 AGs in a row in the course of about 1.5 seconds.
Hes definitely a beast, but I think hes still warming back up on the game
I read this on the Vampire Wiki, regarding BBH’s command throw: (ES Version): Spins faster, does more damage. But more importantly, this is the only way the command throw can be done cancelling a dash.
Don’t know who wrote that, but either way, it’s incorrect.

So I’ve got myself playing this game again. First time in over 11 years. I forgot how fucking fast it is. But I’m enjoying it. I’m gonna spend another week or so getting my execution better, then hop on GGPO a bit.
Are there still people playing this game on ggpo ? I can only play against europeans and some us players, checked the ggpo channel and didn’t many players, plus most of them were from japan (unplayable connexion for me).
I kinda miss the time were lots of people were getting into the game (2 years ago IIRC), that was when ggpo had very few games available. There were lots of talk on srk and lots of players , but now it seems like the game is dead outside japan. I really want to play the game again, but not if it means playing against the same 3 guys over and over again.
So does anyone know what causes the situations where it allows you to airblock grounded normals? I’ve caused it a number of times to a number of different characters in the last couple days. Mostly off c.LP, but also off c.MP and s.LK before.
It mostly seems to happen when they have to block the normal extremely low to the ground, but i’ve also had it occur at head level before. It seems to have something to do with forcing them to block air - to - air then landing before they do and making them block again, but not every time.
Also, making them airblock a projectile while they’re on the way down seems to cause it to occur more often.
ray my guess is that the blockstun from the air normal is being over lapped by a ground normal causing it to hit as continuous block stun. I think you need a break in the block stun to allow the ground normal to count as an AA hit. The majority of the time I see it, it happens really low to the ground.
Ok, Just ran a set with mar and did a little testing / had it occur in a few matches under a number of situations.
Air blocking Leilei’s projectile seems to allow you to airblock any grounded normal all the way until you hit the ground. IE:
Airblock Hp projectile, Airblock c.RH at the top of the screen (probably her tallest AA normal, either that or 6+HP)
Airblock HP projectile, wail on s.LK or s.LP and laugh as they stay airborne for 15 jabs in a row.
Also it seems that if you force them to airblock an air chain, then beat them to the ground and make them block a grounded normal very low and it allows an airblock.
Three situations I just made this occur in:
Midscreen air chain j.MP, j.HK (i land) c.LP with opponent low to ground. Lets them airblock the whole string
Very low ES gong that they land in and then 6+HP. Allowed an airblock, normally is a free Anti-Air if they’re high
very low IAD MK, crossup c.LP - Airblocked
I’m sure i’ve forced other situations with other characters but i’m not sure what other projectiles or specials might cause the same effect as airblocking LeiLei’s projectiles
EDIT: All the information above was from Hsien-Ko vs Felicia. Just tried to similar some of the same instances with Q-Bee and she is not able to stay in airblock. I guess its because of her float mode, but even if you airblock while holding 1, and continue holding 1 she immediately drops airblock stance as soon as the hitstun ends.
That’s interesting to know, but I’m wondering how to apply it with Rikuo. Usually, if you hit an air chain (lp, mp,hp) and land before them, standing jab will reset them (it’s unbrockable). But I’m wondering if that’s character specific what you’re doing.
