Vampire Savior: advanced link combos & important notes

Did I miss it if it was asked already…why don’t you play on GGPO?

Xenozip: I have a few things to add to the QB/Fel matchup.

When you’re in a neutral state, standing lk works as an AA to stop Instant Air Dash. Now…the damage you do is minimal and the most it does is reset Bee, but at least it discourages her and makes them respect your range and keep from just doing IAD all day. Although, you have to be pretty psychic about the lk.

I’m not sure about doing low strong for this, since low strong puts you pretty low and has a low hitbox. I know standing lk works well since it’s fast and you can spam it ST style if you expect an IAD coming.

B-IzM playing Q-Bee also? Awesome.

Quick question:
BBHood - Is it possible to link the ES Basket from cr.mp, or something else perhaps?

afaik theres no way to combo ES basket (maybe do Grandma and trade hits, creating a long stun?)

heres my question:
How do you do instand diagnal Demon Cradle? 6623+P REALLY fast?
No matter how fast I try I can always see Demitri’s dash start and it doesnt seem instant.
advise plz?

Too lazy to port forward. I just play p2p with nfba on irc.

Yeah if there is a way it’s useless situational combovideo stuff.

Diagonal DC is 623 5 6 P (dp, neutral, forward, punch, really fast).

Good shit to B-IzM, or should I say “Bee-IzM?”

Shit, I’m starting to consistently hit the Double IAD off dizzy now.

Now to make it consistently double iad -> Tenraiha

Skillsmith comboz ftw!

Anyone got any matchup data about B.B Hood?

You mean this?

It’s 6 months old. Don’t know if there are any newer ones.

Eh that matchup chart is older than that. They released another one and it’s somewhere on the thread. Are you good enough to find it?

Anyways, good games to Tiggy, Tweleve, kakaka, B-IzM, GB, and ihira.

A many ggs Korey

Well, the only other matchup chart I can find is http://www.din.or.jp/~waiter-7/zabe04.htm#no.52

But the fact that the date above (12/01/03) is quite disheartening.

Wow, you found it. Nice.

However, it’s not like this game has evolved any to where the matchup chart would need drastic changes, like in the first one. I still think Bulleta’s placement is garbage

To play Bulleta needs links and 2 or 3 rounds of loop. Too hard for me.

I don’t think that’s really true. In the 11th hour of ST, O.Hawk shot up in the tiers, and this was only about two or three years ago.

Anyways, here’s my personal take on Talbain matches these days, if anyone cares. I’m bored…

Rapter: 5-5

I don’t think anyone has the advantage in this match. Rapter of course has a downright absurd selection of great options that he can pull out on anyone, but the brokenness of Talbain’s normals keeps this match in check.

Sasquatch: 4-6

Talbain doesn’t have it has bad as some people, cos he can at least zone Sasquatch, and it’s virtually impossible to miss a combo on him. But, when Sasquatch has the advantage, he’s practically flipping a coin with half a lifebar.

Q-Bee: 5.5-4.5

My opinion on this match has changed a lot since I started VS. I still don’t even feel sure about this number. It’s hard to say when OraOra is the only bee player that has been really hard for me to beat, but playing a good Bee player really puts this match in perspective.

Basically, flying and doing Chicken Guard really wrecks Talbain in this match if he tries to attack recklessly, so you need to be a lot more careful in your approach. Talbain’s wakeup games and sheer damage put this in his favor, but barely.

B.B.Hood: 5-5

I don’t know how anyone can think this matchup is favorable for Talbain. He has to play very defensively for most of the match - something he’s pretty bad at - because of BBHood’s missiles. And, if that wasn’t enough, a lot of Talbain’s usual methods of approach don’t work on her. Still, I would say that this match is even, but it’s definitely Talbain’s hardest match to learn.

Rikuo: 4.5-5.5

The only reason I think this match is advantage Rikuo is because Talbain’s only ways to dodge the Bubble Trap are very difficult to pull off. Otherwise, this is a really good match; Rik has what he needs to pull off an effective zone or rushdown, and Talbain actually has ground anti-airs that WORK. Fun match.

Felicia: 4-6

This isn’t Talbain’s hardest match, but it’s definitely my least favorite. Felicia’s fast, powerful normals and good high/low game can really overwhelm Talbain, but either one does fine when they have the advantage. It’s just that Felicia can get it much easier.

Bishamon: 7-3

This is kind of an absurd match. Just about anything Bish does on the ground is dangerous, so he has to kind of fish for a knockdown. When he gets the knockdown, he can do a decent job to pressure Talbain, but Talbain simply has too many easy opportunities to deal big damage in this match.

Hsien-Ko: 6-4

This is one of the few matchups I don’t have much experience with. I haven’t had a lot of trouble with many Hsien players, though.

Basically, her projectile seems very unsafe, and Talbain’s J.Mk and J.Hk can stop her rush cold. If Hsien gets the advantage though, Talbain’s defensive options are pretty much crap, so it’s easy to bully him with Tenraiha. So it’s bad for Hsien, but I suppose it could be a lot worse.

Demitri: 6-4

What really keeps Demitri in this match is his ability to punish Talbain for not being careful. It’s very hard to anti-air Demitri’s jump-ins, and his C.Hk and Demon Cradle do a decent job at keeping Talbain honest on offense. He can do a lot of damage with the advantage, but it only takes one false step for Talbain to even it out, as Chicken Guard is pretty hard for Demi to handle.

Jedah: 7-3

Jedah can hardly do anything in this match. If the Talbain player is really impatient (and I’ve definitely been there before!), Jedah might be able to knock Talbain down with a Wheel and do some crossup bullshit for good damage. But in the end, Jedah’s defensive options don’t really do much to keep Talbain from going on a rampage.

Morrigan: 7-3

I think of this match as a variation of the Jedah matchup - essentially, like fighting Jedah with a Shoryuken, a crappier fireball, and a worse rushdown. At least if Jedah gets a knockdown, he can cause problems for Talbain; Morrigan simply zones him a smidge better thanks to Shadow Break.

Lilith: 6.5-3.5

Lilith is kind of like a third variation on the Jedah&Morrigan match, lol. Her projectile isn’t worthless for zoning Talbain, and Shining Blade also keeps Talbain from going bonkers on the offensive. Her jump-ins can be troublesome for Talbain to stop, and it’s much easier for her to get her rushdown going. The main reasons this match is still really hard for Lilith is that her command throw isn’t worth shit and he doesn’t have any overheads. So, she’s got no mixup game for her rush.

Victor: 6-4

I reject the notion that this match is as easy as Morrigan or Jedah, which are just stupidly easy. Victor has a lot of good tools for this match: his normals are just downright hard for Talbain to deal with, and it’s easy to land grabs on Talbain if you can pressure him. Also, he just has a ton of ways to knock Talbain down.

Talbain takes this match mostly because he can hit fast and hard with just a few openings, but Victor does a lot better in this match than most people think, in my opinion.

Anakaris: 6-4

This is the matchup I know the least about, mostly cos I’ve never played any really phenominal Anakaris players. But basically, it seems like Anakaris can’t do much to stave off Talbain’s ground rush. But, Anakaris’s own ground rush is really pretty good, and Talbain’s poor defensive options don’t do much to stop it, either. I wish I knew more about this match.

Points: 79.5 (+9.5). That coincides pretty closely to the more recent tier list, but rates him as way notably worse than the older tier list. What I think it comes down to is that Talbain has a harder time against the top tier than the older tier list states, and I don’t think he takes the low tier characters for a ride when in higher level play.

I just found this on Youtube, thanks for this dude for uploading. He did all of them. Dunno whether it’s someone from here.

Old Japanese East vs West. Just in case someone here didn’t watch this before.?Japanese people sorta like this vs style. Like ST)

Well, the one I linked is from April 5th 2009, so I don’t see how the other one would be newer.

This one’s pretty cool also:

Good find.

Translation for the parameters:

Top: Attack/Power
**Top Left: **Speed
Top Right: Potential
Bottom Left: Stability/Safeness
Bottom Right: Ability to adjust/Countermeasures
Bottom: Defense

From what he says on his blogpost, it sounds like DDsasquatch constructed this parameter chart based on his own ideas while being supplemented by the opinions and suggestions of others. There’s five ranks in each parameter and the character was assigned points based on the specified area. In that sense, the evaluations are obviously somewhat generalized, but at the same time plausible enough. A bit different from your standard tierlist, but definitely interesting to look at and just as informative at a glance.

Thanks for the translation!
