Vampire Chronicles Thread

I remember the old Gamefan Darkstalkers Revenge Strategy guide had a combo that involved lots of juggles featuring the Water Jail Super and EX Sonic Wave. Very nice looking. I’m planning to try it all the same just to see whether or not it still works.

Victor was given a small hop that could be performed by pressing (D+all 3 kicks) much like B.B. Hood’s Tell Me Why and Talbain’s Ducking. Are there any Vic players who have found it to be useful? You’re a target from the moment you leave the ground, and you can’t block or attack while you’re in mid-jump. I had hoped that you could use it to close distance and set up for a throw, but it’s too impractical.

What, if any, changes were made to Victor in VH2 and VS2?

Ted: Yes, Bishamon could Link his attacks VERY easily. In fact, most of my Combos with him involve such Links. Crouching Jab and Short Linked into each other, and they both Linked into Strong (not Chain, but just Linking). All three moves are Bufferable, so you can imagine the damage he can do. It’s so fast, they look like Chains, but actually aren’t.

Nemesis00: Jedah, sorry to say, isn’t that good in Vampire Savior. But I will agree with you… Jedah is easily one of the most creative designs for a character EVER. The fact that a large majority of his moves involve him cutting himself and spraying blood on you (standing Forward is my fav) is too cool (and he drips when he stands… how do you beat that?).

bileJester and FighterX: I’d love to see those vids as well. The only real impressive Dark Force Combos I’ve made are with Lord Raptor and Felicia (ones that last throughout the entire Dark Force). I’m curious to see what else exists (though, honestly, I haven’t messed with many Dark Forces yet). Is there a site you can host to put them up at? I can’t get anything through AIM because I have a firewall at work.

Last time you said that he was mid-tier and that he could take out Demitri if the Jedah user was good enough. In the previous Darkstalkers 3 thread, someone posted a tournament listing and Jedah came in second.

No sorry, my ftp is now gone, is there anyway you can get them from home via AIM? Thats all I have right now unless someone else can get them from me and host them. BTW, I’m not sure if you remember or not, but a LONGGGGGGG time ago you sent me a VHS tape of the B2 tourney, the Gamest XMenvsSF tape, and also some early Japanese SSFT tourney play, mostly T.Hawk and walking 720s, thanks a lot for that stuff :D. Well if anyone has a way of hosting the vids I’d be more than happy to send them to ya.

Nemesis00: In the Vampire Savior thread in the other Forum, I mentioned that I thought Jedah was a poor character, and was surprised at the placing of the Jedah player (2nd) in the tourney that was discussed. I saw the Gamest rankings, and they, too, agree that Jedah is lower middle-tier. I do believe that the game is well designed enough so that just about anyone can do well, so even if I do say that I don’t think Jedah is that good, he’s still probably not much worse than anyone else (the distance between a, say, Demitri and Q.Bee with Jedah is nothing compared to the distance between, say, Sagat and Kyosuke in CvS2).

I will change what I said a bit, though, and not say he’s not that good. I guess I should state it more “He’s not top tier”. That’s probably a better way of putting it.

bllejester: Wow, really. What was your nick during that time? bllejester doesn’t sound too familiar… You can PM me, if you’d like, with your original nick or your real name. I’d probably remember it that way.

I still have that book but no longer the NW or VS one. Some of VIctor changes as far as I can remember are that he can dash on Savior not HUnter. His dashing punch was replaced with his headbutt. His Dr.Super is now a Dark force which was a super in Hunter. Probably is a few more other things have to play him some more on all modes in Chronicle.

I have to agree with LiquidTed about Bishamon being top tier. I have found his links to be extremely good. Infact my Bread n Butter combos with Bishamon are:

D.S.Short, C.Jab,C.Short,C. StrongXX ES Fireball, into QCF+P move,into D,D,+2P EX move

It’s really usefull.

As for the gamest DF video. I think someone on #gamecombos on IRC has it. Thats where I got my copy of it.

Even though my VS thread is dead, let’s keep this one alive.

Anyone got any good Raptor tips??? I found out his Air Dashing D+K is hella quick , but thats it. What else is good about him.

P.S.
ShinYa Ohnuki won a Vampire Savior Tourney a while ago with Bishamon

Bish is quite the combo monster. I didn’t even know he had links like that gonna try that one tonight. Can you list any more. I play Raptor too and your right his air dash is evil. I usually mix it with D+K, D,U,K, and his Hurricane kick motion Spin. I also use his teleport in mindgames or when a player does a screen filling super like Jon’s fire wolf, Lei Lei’s ground knives, or Demitri’s bats Super and do his Basketball Super. His dashing moves also come to play some too, like his dashing roundhouse going under fireballs (shades of Sim from SF2).

Nice to see a VS thread here! Anyway, I have that DF vid B-IzM was talking about if anyone wants it. Either go to #gamecombos on EFnet, or contact me on AIM at JonDash for the vid, or any other vids you want!

ok thanks for the vids guys

ok now that more of the darkstalker ppl have shwon up who are the “top tier” in this game…after playing around awhile i have found that bishamon and demitri work well against most characters but i’m still a n00b. thanks for the feedback and let’s keep this thread rolling.

PS any tips for which “grooves” are best for each char on VC would be a HUGE help.

thanks persona and Blue i will catch u on aim also. when i get back from this corrupeted area of no competition detroit.

eh did anyone notice rikou can catch opponents in his bubble during block stun?

If anybody wants, I can scan pages of Gamefan’s Nightwarriors: Darkstalker’s Revenge guide…

BlueNu, I’m really sorry, but I didn’t save the vid, just only watched it from its location (yes, dumb) and that was quite a while ago, so its not even in my history folder or anything.

Persona, the Bulletta/BB Hood vid was just as old as that Dark Force vid I mention, I did save that one however…but I reformatted my comp since then and lost it…sorry again, I should have held onto the DS footage more closely if I knew it was gonna be this rare.

Anyways, from what I remember which isn’t much at all, it involved an infinite with her Basket move (I think, don’t take my word on it) and her normals (I think a command attack was in there to keep them in stun long enough for the basket again), then the combo ended with her super where she throws her opponent in a puddle of tears…I know that isn’t much help, but that’s the best I could remember from some long ago…

Sorry I couldn’t help out more Persona, but when I saw that vid, it was long ago.

Gen2000:
Hmm…the only stuff I know for Bulleta is her infinite and I also got one of her combo vids with dashing jabs then basket that knocks them down into EX pursuit doing 27 hits.

Some questions if ya remember:

Was the combo done on Lei Lei? Exact full 100%? Does the basket move knock them down or was it a normal attack that used the basket to hit them? Any dashing attacks or jumping attacks?

That’s enough from me.

In the case of some characters, there are probably some who definitely work better overall in certain modes, but you’ll find that if you try to do that with some of the other characters, it will depend more on how you take advantage of their particular strengths than anything else. One important thing to remember about characters played in Vampire or Hunter Mode is that certain motions for specials and perhaps even entire moves are not present. Felicia played in her Vampire Mode will most likely have her sand splash kick and her (D, DB, B + P) bouncing scratch, but she won’t have the Please Help Me super, EX Charge (hiss move), Low Nail (downed foe pursuit) or the Cat Spike (F, D, DF+P). Another example, in Vampire and Hunter modes, Jedah’s Dio=Cega (spinning blade) changes ranges, and I believe that he loses his Blood Contract super in Vampire mode. With some characters, the supers got easier to perform with each successive game up until VS. Just try them out for the characters you use and see what suits you best.

So you going to the tourney on the 26th of this month at Wizzards.

Yeah I would.

There really should be tournies for thin in the US. I’d definitely go if it was in NY. Does anyone have any match vids from Japan?

We had a VS tournament in S.Carolina about 2 years ago. It was a moderate success but the manager who held it quit the next month and there have been no tournies helds there since.
BTW…My Raptor placed 2nd
