Then I mean the fifth skirmish, with the bridges.
I had a gut feeling I should’ve preordered the JP limited edition. Just got the game, and it owns. It’s very unique, load times are good, story feels epic, the characters are likable, pacing is good, and most of all it’s fun.
There are some issues I have with the game, however. First of all, the intro spoils too much of the story. It gives you a vague idea of how the game will unfold. The intro makes you want to play the game, but damn it all leave the spoilers out. Secondly, the translation is butchered (hopefully this will get better as the game progresses). And lastly, I’m not digging the leveling up system. It’s a breath of fresh air where experience points are ‘spent’ similar to Xenosaga, but I wish the characters leveled up individually.
Anyways, these are just my initial impressions with the game for 2-3 hours. Lovin’ it so far. PS3 RPG drought is over for the time being.
That was full of win.
Unless they are Rosie, Alicia or Welken, just about everybody does only have one personal potential to unlock. The “” through the last box means that they only get 3 personal potentials.
Off the top of my head, I can already think of three exceptions: Alex, Oscar, and Marina.
About half the regular troops have to unlock two hidden potentials.
have you guys beaten all of the Hard Skirmishes yet? some of them are pretty intense, but some aren’t that tough. i think the first one is the hardest, but it’s hella fun working your way out of that tight spot. i only have 3 more left to get an A on, so wish me luck.
Yep finished it all. For me, the hardest thing about them was figuring/planning out how to approach the mission. After a lot of trials and errors though, you’ll find that with a good plan, the skirmishes are actually very easy to execute.
I only had to unlock 1 on my Marina. She started off with 3.
You only have 1 hidden potential, but some may have 4 personal potentials, while others have only 3(usually because they are all positives, or really strong).
The class level up system works cause you’re putting the class as a whole through training with the eyepatchdude
Individual system wouldnt work that well, because you’d either need a ridiculous amount of xp to level up teams, or you’d have the ‘perfect’ squad way too soon
Ay, it’s Gamefaqs messageboard no.2-ranked player here. Just clocking in to give some opinions and promote my Youtube channel.
First up, the following is ‘cheap’:
- Order-stacking, or using Orders at all actually
- Base-rushing
The manly way to play the game, in my opinion, is:
- to aim for 100% kills in addition to A-grades
- when possible, to go further and aim for zero-damage-taken runs
My current playthrough, I’m playing without the assistance of the R&D department or the Training Field. So this means no levelling of personnel or weapons (although I can use Imperial and Royal weapons). You can find the vids I’ve recorded so far here:
I’m going to record the Kidnapping of Cordelia today. I already did Vegetable Route Incident, but deleted it as I will return to it once I can get an anti-armour shocktrooper gun that’s capable of taking down those tanks, rather than using Largo.
Also, gotta give props to The Busard, who is a true beast at this game: http://www.dailymotion.com/The_Busard
I also have an older VC video I recorded on my other YT channel. This one is for a challenge I issued to The Busard, and features some funny shit so check it out:

part 2:

So hope you can see that there are other ways of playing this game other than rushing the camps with a buffed-up Alicia.
re: the sequel, really lookin forward to it. They took out mid-game saving, which worried me at first because I like to use it (to push the limits of what seems possible, see reclaiming the bridge vid), but at the same time they made all the weapons more accurate so I think that could work out ok.
Feel free to post up any vids but I won’t watch any stages that take place after where I’ve got to in my current playthrough.
