I will definitely be there at Lynnhaven around 6:00. To bad the arcade is going to close there. Ours closed down in fayetteville at the end of Dec. good thing we had on last tournament before that. Why are malls getting rid of their arcades? Don’t they know I have no life outside of the arcade?..
It’s cuz all the next generation systems are better than the arcades.
systems are nice. gatherings are cool, but to me, there is nothing better than being at the arcade spanking on people, with a crowd of players and random bystanders watching you kick everyones ass(if you are). i dont know. maybe im just old school and i miss all the arcades that shutdown and the good times of getting better and going to the arcade to show off, or seeing players who have mastered a game, at the arcade just smashin it up and me just wanting to one day be that guy who comes to the arcade and spanks up the rookies.
but really. im gonna try to start coming to those friday meetings and hitting up tourneys this spring and summer, since thats like the only option now.
its a shame. no one wants to boost their ego by being the arcade king or at least the king of one arcade game, anymore. damn. take me back to the good ol days. with mortal kombat1,2, killer instinct. those were when my arcades were still around and people were surrounding the machines. when the vs series first started poppin. so sad now:sweat:
honestly, Im the only person who gets stuff done in VA. SMP is too lazy so don’t count on him to set anything up.
I admire your dedication to the game, but as of right now, the marvel heads are lazy, and haven’t made it a priority to come out on sundays.
Maybe in a few weeks they will start coming out, and when they do I will let you know. But I would hate for you to ask SMP to gather ppl, and for you to come alllll the way from NOVA, only to play in a 7 man tournament.

GGPO, Aladdin’s Castle. It was nice knowing you. For those of you who are curious as to how the last match to ever take place at Lynnhaven went down, my Team Scrub beat Josiah’s Strider/Thanos/Doom. Yeah, I don’t know what he was thinking either.
In any event, it looks like we need a new place to play. Meeting at people’s houses is probably the way to go. I’d be happy to host a gathering next weekend. I can set it up so that MvC2 is on one TV and CvS2 or 3S is on another.
As for Newport News, here’s the thing. Play a Round is a huge pain in the ass for me to go to. I don’t have a car, so to get there, I either have to take the bus or get a ride from someone else. And I have to leave by 5 if I want to catch the last bus back to Virginia Beach. I don’t mind having the major tourneys in NN since it’s closer for players from Richmond and NoVA, but I think it’s pretty inconvenient for weeklies since most of the good MvC2 players live Southside. And I don’t like 3S enough to travel all the way to NN just to play it. I’d run some tournaments myself, but I don’t want Jinmaster and myself to be working at cross purposes. If he’s OK with me running weeklies for locals, I’ll go ahead and do that.
im sure me and all the people from nova wouldnt go every week, so maybe just a once in a month thing would be cool. but if you guys do it, dont make it on the day of the richmond tourney.
plus there are a lot of “good” players from nova, and going to norfolk or any further would probably make a difference on whether they go or not.
Just in case anybody’s interested…Patrick Henry Mall has MvC2, and a laundrymat close to my house has it. That strider/thanos/doom team was picked accidentally, cuz the joysticks in lynnhaven mall sucked. I even had doom on projectile type, instead of anti-air. Before that loss to chris, I beat him with that same team…pretty crazy huh?

You guy should try to come to at least one weekly a month… the MvC2 machine at Play a Round is big… nice sticks… and seats… there’s also a 3rd strike machine… tekken 5.1… and some other shit… we also do console games… (sc3/ggxx/SSBM/v4evo/etc…) so you’ll have plenty of different tourneys to enter… we dont charge huge entry fees for the weeklies… cause there are some broke ass people in our area, but definitely come check us out sometime… if your in Norfolk or Va Beach, we have a lot of players in both spots that come every week that could hook you guys up with a ride if you need one… most of them post on www.tekkenzaibatsu.com cause they are mainly tekken players,… but they all play mvc2, 3rd strike and all those other games too… hti em up on AIM (Lomaxima) if your lookin for a ride or more information…
Yeah, I got caught off guard by that boshit. I saw Thanos and Doom projectile assist and figured it was an easy win, so I let my guard down and got hit by a bunch of shit I don’t usually get hit by. By the same token, I’ve had my share of wins with BBH/Jugg/Hulk. And pretty much everyone’s lost to that Jugg/Iceman/Gambit guy at least once. Marvel is weird like that.
How are the sticks on the 3S cabinet at Play a Round? Last time I was there, they were pretty jacked. And the HK button on the left side of the MvC2 cabinet kept going out. If you guys had CvS2 at at least a few of your weeklies, I’d try to make it out more often.
Oh, and having a tournament next Sunday would be a really bad idea. There’s a little something called the Super Bowl going on that day.
BarrelO- I have a bunch of players from VA beach who come to newport news tournaments all the time. If you are truley interested in coming, I can get you a ride.
If I can get a ride, I’d try to make it out to a few tournaments. Next Sunday is a no-go (Super Bowl) and so is the one after that (I’ll probably still be in Richmond), but I should be able to make the subsequent ones as long as my work schedule permits.

I don’t have a problem if you guys want to come, but I was planning on having the get-together on Saturday evening (around 6 or 7), and I’d hate for you guys to have to drive all the way back to northern Virginia around midnight.
