V-Maki

Is it just me or is this a hellish character? I just got Max on PSP today and after messing around with her for a bit I’m really starting to like her. She’s just so good on so many different levels. First thing you notice straght away is she’s like guy which I like, although I’ve yet to manage her full Bushin Chain, roundhouse doesn’t seem to connect. Secondly she’s kind of like V-Sakura with an easier variable combo. She has b.hk which is a good anti air and back forward/fierce is cancelable into her rush punch/command dash. While on that, if you land one of her rush punches, it’s the pefect set-up for a jump in meaty, couldn’t be a better timing. If you time it really really late it can even cross up, that’s going to mess with non shoto’s pretty bad.

Guess what I’m asking is, what are your opinions on this character?

What is her best V-combo? I’ve never played A3Max, but interested in getting into it. Do the extra 4 characters actually make the game any better?

Alpha Max is based on the Upper Arcade and GBA’s double upper is based on the A3 arcade.

So MAX= no crouch cancels
double upper = crouch cancels

But!

MAX and double upper Maki are not as good as the CvS2 Maki. She lacks some of her moves. She still does have the FF chain and she does have the strongest A-ism super. So I think she’s best in A-ism. (since MAX’s V-ism is Upper’s V-ism). Experiment with her FF chain, if the Kick still is unflippable then this really could be good.

Yun’s X-A-ism are stupid, so play Yun in V-ism. In V-ism he can OTG Vc’s with his hqc grap move.

Well V2, mk, qcf + hp, s.hk, qcf + hp, (s.hk, qcf + mp) x n does roughly 50 percent damage and that’s without an ender. What I was thinking was to stop n at 5% and finnish with b.hp, qcf + k - hk but I haven’t managed to pull it off yet. So it should probably do around about 60% - 65% in total, which is actually quite good concidering no crouch cancels and V-Ism’s nerfing.

One thing I have noticed though is you can’t start an anti air VC with a normal, is this the same in A3? This pretty much means you can’t activate and use s.hk which is quite a shame…

As for her Bushin Chain, it doesn’t launch like Guy’s so there’s no oppertunity to juggle…

You can start it with whatever you want, but you need to cause knockdown state. Which means:

A) You have to cancel that normal directly into a special and have it connect right away (like charlie’s VC, c.hp x flashkick, etc)
B) The opponent has just used air recovery and hasn’t landed yet (all moves will cause knockdown in this situation)
C) You have one of those rare normals that cause knockdown anyhow (Cody c.hp, Honda s.RH) or a sweep that hits high.

In CvS2 her sweep is off the ground think, so she might be able to just easily start with sweep (like Chun Li)

Cody’s :d::hp: only causes a knockdown state if you hit it really early, but basically yeah.
That’s why some AA VC’s like Sodom’s :lk: > :qcf::mp: are so timing dependant, because they have to be knocked close enough for the follow-up special to hit immediately or they go into reset status where you can’t hit them until they either flip or hit the ground.
