In order to play Seth and not get your ass beat you have to play like a pro and almost never make mistakes or you pay big time.
The only people in our group that I think are even capable of that are brian kelly or andrew.
I’m gonna add a little update to the next ranbat.
Just because we’re in a bigger area does not mean you can come smelling like ass. If you come stinking, without showering or wearing deodorant I will personally shout it out loud for everyone to come smell your stinky ass so everyone knows who didn’t shower.
For example the shout will go something like this: "HEY EVERYONE COME SMELL MATTY’S STINKY ASS! HE SMELLS LIKE HE HASN’T SHOWERED IN LIKE A WEEK! WHAT A STINKY BASTARD!"
Crowd: “lol omg matty does smell like ass!”
I’m pretty sure we’re all adults, or close to anyway. So we really shouldn’t even have to tell you to shower. So if your not gonna do it. I’m gonna start pointing you out for everyone to laugh at.
So Ranbat 1.2, had exactly 21 ppl, we finished at 9:45 pm that night if I remember correctly b/c I saw a 10:30 show with Matty. Best show ever. Or was it Ranbat 1.1, who the hell knows.
So check this out. I am confident that this will end at 10:00 pm if everything is pre-set up. We run on time and we have 4 screens running the “majority of time.”
I will make signups at 6:00 pm and we are starting it at 6:30 pm, unless I get alot of pm’s telling me we can’t make this.
We will have nearly 32 ppl this time I expect, just maybe.
I will try my best to record all of the winner’s brackets, and some of the losers. My goal is to get you on youtube at least once. So even if you aren’t amazing, you get to be a star for 1 minute. However, the majority of loser’s brackets will have to be played on the non recording televisions.
As I say, Tourney will Start at 6:30 pm and End at 10:00 pm. Registration at 6:00 pm.
I will listen to any complaints and help as much as I can. The whole point in making something run fast is the same point why all good movies are 120 to 140 minutes long, ppl get fucking tired towards the end. As much fun as some of the early matches are, the end matches are even that much better and half our group died down towards the end. I don’t want ppl to miss Sagat FADC ultras or Balrog’s fucking combo loops or my gorgeous E. Honda.
However, remember: The few have done the majority of work to have these ranbats run smoothly.
If you want to put up the time and money to make these tourney’s quality go right ahead. However, until you do, don’t bitch to me about shit.
Matty has especially contributed more than most and that is obvious. Please be respectful of what they have done.
The owner is a great guy, being the first time we use this, I don’t want to wear out my welcome especially since it’s free. After this though, we can be a little bit more generous with how much time we spend there. Free is a good word. I really can’t dip into my own pockets anymore than I have been. Seems alot of ppl have “other Saturday night” things too, so I want them to be able to go to both events since that’s the reason so many ppl had to deck out last time. I really want this to be “viewer friendly.”

P.S. I agree with what Thomas said above. Personal hygiene is something not only important for Ranbats, but for life in general. Body odor is one thing, but I think it comes to good full washing, deodorant, and very clean clothes.
That will work if we use all the setups we have and record only later matches on the main tv’s. It all hinges on starting on time and being setup on time.
Everyone MUST take a look at the maps that Andy linked us to on the protocol42 website so we all know how to get there. There is plenty of parking.

If anyone still knows a way I can plug up a mic and record the “crowds reaction” to the games that will be nice. It would have to plug into the Hauppauge some how. I’m not great at electronics. . .maybe Kyle or someone else can help with this.

I just want to check and make sure who all is riding and rooming with me at EVO. So far I know Zach is coming with me and I’m pretty sure Nate is too right? Thomas let me know if your coming with me also. I’m about to reserve the hotel room pretty soon, so if you’re with me we will need to split the cost of that as well as gas money of course.

Andy, 2 things that will prevent some really sneaky delays:
Make sure everyone knows to report the results of their match immediately to you. If you are busy, they should resist doing something else while they wait, or have someone else to report results to.
Call out the people who play next, so they can sit down as soon as the next TV is open.
You do a decent job with these already, but if you are worried about time then 100% makes a noticeable difference.

You do not need to be a pro play seth. I just need to get as good as everyone around me and I can do fine. I think your just trying to say he is harder to play than other characters and thats a given.
Thats just B.S. anyone here in Utah can pick him up and learn him. He just has a very high learning curve that requires mad patience. This is patience is worth investing because he is a very good character. Another reason I want to pick him up is because no one else wants to rep him so I am going to do so myself.

Chun Ultra still catches me, just like ELF’s Ultra and Abel’s Ultra…man, I’ve gotta do better on anticipating the Ultras.
