Man, I hate square gate. Doing double qc is such a pain.

open wide

It really is. I swear more than half the time I go slightly too high hitting up forward or back, causing me to jump. Even happens to me sometimes just blocking quick down up attacks like guiles target combo or blanka’s ultra.

Makes me wonder how I’d do on an octagon gate.

My problem is I can’t do a quarter circle at all. I have to half circle it. And then to do it twice always causes me to whiff.

The worst part is how easy and forgiving it is to do dps, so tons of times when I mean to do qcf it just interprets it as df df. Especially when I’m trying to ultra : |

Hey,

Sure you guys know this but try not to exaggerate QCF so much especially when you are doing double QCF QCF. Try not to do it so fast/hard (that’s what she said) but focus on the smoothness. Watch how John/Phil/Andrew/Wade(2P) rolls the motion. Octagon gate may help some. . .but I’ve tried it and let me say there are other issues with those gates though. . .

I know, but it’s so so hard to do it with the required quickness.

I’m interested to hear about what’s wrong with 8-gates. Not gonna buy one or anything, but would still like to know.

Biggest complaint is finding the corners for some, worse with rounded gates. When ppl go to back block, they will crouch and vice versa. However it depends on preference. To me, square gates are perfect.

Yeah, when you are trying to do it fast, do it quickly but smoothly. Ppl end up rolling the movements so violently that other commands get inputed.

But whatever floats anyones boats. The octagon gates are like 8 bucks if you guys want to buy some.

John, Rudy like the octagon gates alot.

The problem with focus on making it smooth is it’s just not fast enough. I really want to play akuma. Have for a while. But just simple attacks into a lk. tatsu almost never work because its either not fast enough or just sloppy and I’m probably skipping the corner.

I got to mess with rudy’s stick once, and my only problem was knowing what the crouch blocking position was. But I think that was just due to me never using one before.

Yo, have you tried turning on Turbo and wearing your glove while playing on a square gate?

Octagon gates are horrible. Have fun playing charge characters where you always want to keep a constant charge, or when you need to find a corner mid combo… The stick also seems to have a much larger throw with the octagon gate in, and the transitions between sides feels funky. I tore mine out and gave it to one of the scrub ass clones. Probably Jacob.

You should be faster on a square gate. Less travel distance… shorter throw.

This had me ROFL!

GGs last night Zack. That Seth is good, too bad I held my own in the mirrors and I don’t even play Seth  Stick with Blanka man…if you play this good on a pad, bring that shit to the ranbat because you online and you in person are two different people. Bring your online game.

Square Gate > you

Zack plays on a PS3 pad, though.

Thats what I woulda thought. I’ve been sitting in training just doing combos with qcf motions. When I first started using square gate stick I skipped corners. Now I don’t think I’m skipping them but I still fuck it up all the time.

I guess it just dawned on me I can turn on the command input to see what I’m doing wrong. So I guess I’ll go do that for a while. See what exactly I’m screwing up.

I heard when we get to heaven all gates are octogan gates.

Are they pearly white octagon gates??

The thing about octagon gates is that it really depends on your character, I played Balrog for a bit and keeping a DB charge ona octo was tough. No complaints there but when it comes to say Fuerte that i played at the ranbats its way easy because you charge nothing, everything is fireball motions, its perfect. I started playing Rufus now and i do still like the octagon gate, the only trouble i have is once in a while i’ll mess up his dive kick, but after doing so many fireball motions on a Octo i cant go back to square unless i was playing a charge character. If any of you are curious you can try out my SE stick at the next ranbat. I think i almost convinced Thomas when he used my stick at casuals a while ago to come to the octo side but again its personal preference and what you’re comfortable with

I’ve messed around with Jacob’s Octo-Modded Mayflash and I quite like it, as the motions flow instead of catching on the diagonals, but I’m one to use the gate as a guide to move the stick. You don’t have to do that, of course, you just have to engage the microswitches. If you can always move the stick just enough to do that, you’re awesome. I think I grind the stick through the gate from the arcade days of indestructible and often insensitive Happs. Sanwas and Seimitsus are so sensitive that you don’t need to, but old habits die hard.

That being said, square gates are fine, and are awesome for me with charge characters, especially when I need to know that all the diagonals are engaged for Guile’s Super/Ultra. Hold DB, slide it forward to DF, slide it back to DB, then slide it up to UB…awesome. Rose does fine with a square gate, but my main problem is the D position, as I like to know where I’m at if and when I need to Drill. I usually just start from DB anyway so that all bases are covered and that works well for me.

Whats up Guys!! Man I m so hyped for this coming ranbat … there s gonna be so many high skill games… wanna see revenge series aka kelly vs brian, brian vs andrew and so on!

whoever is online playin right now and wants to practice against a vega add me up!

Thats it… you might see a new seth player this upcoming ranbat… he has the most options out of any character and is just fuckin massive in the right hands… those hands might be mine

5 bucks you get Ultra’d by Gief at the Ranbat and never ever think about choosing Seth again.
