Utah Thread: Arcade Edition @ GameGrid

I wouldn’t have it any other way.

Hey everyone i haven’t been on these boards for a while but I’m back into the scene with SF4. my schedule is very crappy (after 10pm certain nights) but I’m avail on XBL if its too late to travel. Are there any other SLCC students on here?

Alpharudy, not sure if any other SLCC students but someone might be. You think you can make it down come Sunday to my place. We prefer to use sticks when we play but all is welcome. Nice having you back.

Hey, did any of you Salt Lake guys go to the SFIV tournament at ITT Tech last night? Apparently they had about 40+ people. My friend won it with… Vega. LOL VEGA!

Bastard didn’t give me a call about it so he could win it all. Won a cheesed out karate trophy with the karate guy painted up like Ken. Good stuff.

Chase, John/Jake, Mike, Kelly, please pm me if you guys are gonna make it on Sunday.

It had to be Ken didn’t it…I’m starting classes at ITT next week, figures that I’d miss out on such an event. Vega winning it all is kind of blasphemous.

Hey, is anyone doing anything tonight or Saturday night? Just asking. I’ve got time, I’ve got game…

POST UP!

you dont got game you sonic boom throwing ass

Since I haven’t spoken on this just yet…

I think if we do anything more than monthly, ranking battles are probably the best idea. Bi-weekly, probably out in the SLC area or Ogden. There’s just one snag - I can’t make regular Saturday events. Occasionally is fine, but on a regular basis, I’m only available Fridays.

That being said, I have no problem whatsoever even with weekly tournaments in any particular area once things hit that kind of population, it would just have to be done on the understanding that we wouldn’t have all our players regularly (Dana’s point about burnout).

I’d love it if we reached the point where there was so much of an active population and so much competitive interest that we could hold tournaments every week without worrying whether or not this player or that was going to show, or whether or not we’d have enough people to justify it. For example, if we get to the point of having 30 active players in the SLC area, you can take for granted that at least 8-10 of them will be down for a tournament or ranbat any given weekend, to say nothing of how a good weekend would go.

Now that we have the players, I desperately want the kind of scene California has enjoyed for so many years, and I think it’s well within our grasp.

Fighting games for life!

What up, suckas?

Gamestop still hasn’t called me about my controller prize or about the flight to AZ. I called them and they said they have no info. The competition is in a week.

Whatever.

Let’s play fighting games more. I’m in Provo.

I can play Saturday for sure. Hit me up Dana.

Hey foolachu,

Your the Sagat player right? I’m thinking about heading down to provo tonight. We’re gonna do some gaming at my house in SLC on Sunday night. You got a car?

Gamestop won’t fly you to Regionals, just Nationals. At my second round qualifier, the two guys who won immediately started talking about planning their trip to Seattle (probably a much easier tournament to win than Glendale or San Jose).

Hope you can make it to whatever one you decide to attend, man. Let’s bring that arcade cabinet to Utah!

Hi everyone

Hello, I haven’t posted here for a few years. But when i was at the centerville GS tournament I think it must have been DarkCatalyst who mentioned checking this thread out. I think it might be pretty cool to hang out with some of you guys and get some good gaming in. It would definetly help to play more people than just my brother and couple friends before round 3 in Arizona haha.

Kelly and I are heading down to Provo tonight. Would love to see some of you bitches there. Call me at 801 556 5356 if you’re up to it.

Heading to Andy’s house now for the long trek to Happyland

Hey guys,

Old school player here that just got back into the game thanks to SF4 - although I can’t really get into it because I can’t find a damn stick anywhere. :frowning:

Anyway, I’d like to hook up with you guys some time and play a little when a few things get sorted (like me getting a stick).

Mainly just wanted to post and say it’s awesome to see that Utah has a bit of a scene going. Hope to get to meet you guys soon.

-Steve
