ANNOUNCEMENT
RANBAT 1.5
Official Website: http://utahstreetfighters.blogspot.com/
Location: 4119 S 420 West SLC, UT This place is hard as fuck to find. Please click here http://www.protocol42.com/?selection=main_map
Entry fee: $5.00. All money goes to top 3 placers. I don’t pocket shit.
When: Saturday June 6th, 2009
Casual Time: 1:30 pm
Registration Time: 5:30 pm
Tournament Time: 6 pm
Tournament Style: Double Elimination. This time doesn’t matter how good or how suck you are. First round maybe 2 noobs or 2 greats battling. Don’t be late or outside snorting cocaine with the Mexican members of Utah at the beginning or you may miss a classic Kelly vs Brian matchup
Refreshments: Bring your own food/candy. I will provide Pizzas again if popular demand wants it. Papa John’s maybe. IMPORTANT. Please do not bring a 2 Liter of Coke or 12 pk of Pepsi. Sorry guys, but these guys have really high rent fees/electric bills. They don’t want to charge us for using the place. They ask we buy soft drinks/power drinks from them. You may bring your own WATER and it’s ok if you bring like a cup of soda at the beginning. Please, these guys arent asking for much. They aren’t trying to pay back loans from what they make on RedBull.
- ProbablyZack: Can you bring monitor/xbox/hdmi/sf4 game?
- Eddy: Can you bring monitor/xbox/component wires/sf4 game?
- Wade: Can you bring monitor/xbox/hdmi/sf4 game?
- Andy: I’ll bring monitor/xbox/component/sf4 game.

That will give us 4 xbox for tourney.

lol at using sticks… MvC2 on a pad ftw
Gustavo can you get ur xbox ready and sf4? Ill bring monitor with no problem… but I dont wanna disconnect my xbox its a bitch at my new place… Andy do u have an extra pair of components?
Random seeding probably isn’t going to work out as well as you think.
our friend here has a point someone is going to get a bracket of death meanwhile wade is in the finals LOL!!! ;p
lol but wade is super pro, he’s is the incarnation of daigo… but only on 2p side
and yeah, random brackets are gonna suck… i understand that it might give people a better shot at making it big, but its also gonna mean that better players are gonna get knock downed early…
every one man up, cause if you’re matched up early against me you can be sure that you’re taking an early trip to the loser’s bracket
Not to mention you would have 2 people per TV either unable to watch the best match of the night, or making the entire tournament run unbearably slow. Friends of those players also have a difficult choice of which match to watch.
Random seeding is a terrible idea. It causes very inaccurate placings. Now I know its a 1/X(X being total turnout) that a high seed will play a high seed. However, if it happens, you then have Brian/Andrew steamrolling losers bracket giving them a VERY easy trip to the finals. The idea of a tourney is for it to get harder as you go one, not be randomly hard.
Secondly, I sent you a PM regarding another TV for the tourney but you never sent me a response. its a good TV and it will do just fine for the tourney. Its a Vizo 32 inch LCD that runs smooth and has no bleeding like the last one did. let me know before I go to kyles tomorrow…
Finally, I will be wanting to go with you kyle. If you could call(8017280146) me for plans that woudl be great. Or PM me at least.
I have X-Arcade Dual and Solo sticks for Dreamcast. I’m second guessing random seeding too Andy :S
My main concern with the random seeding is that us Provo peeps could end up playing each other early; we play each other down here enough as it is, and you all play each other enough up there as it is. If John and I were to be paired up early…I dunno. I’m not the biggest fan of teh random, but I’m not running the show, either. Sometimes a little mixup can change the game, right?
Random is awesome. It’s why I’ve been knocked into the losers bracket my second fight twice now.
1.2 I fought brian my second fight where I could’ve done better had I threw my first match.
And 1.4 I fought andrew my second fight. But its cool. I’ll still finish out this ranbat season, but I cant really say I’ll be so interested in SF4 after Evo.
Hook it up, ninja!
LOL those ranbats weren’t random. Ranbat 1.1 we ran pools to decide bracket position. And ever since ranbat 1.2 and on the brackets have been based on the standings of previous ranbats. You got matched up with those guys based on how you both performed and a little chance. We made sure all of the top players didn’t face each other in the first few rounds. We could do pools every ranbat to make it even more fair, but everyone complained that it took too long. Can’t please everyone.
And I don’t want to be an ass… But (Ed note: this means I’m going to be an ass) if you aren’t interested in SFIV you aren’t interested. Probably plenty of other things you could do on a Saturday night.
