USFIV T.Hawk

Tell that to the Dee Jay players. If he’s bad, gtfo. They’re gonna cry until this game dies.

As for Hawk’s pressure, it gets more complaints than Bison’s.

At least with Bison’s you can mostly block and jab when he try to move close. With Hawk you can get throw outside of jab range. Jump and you can eat an ultra, plus every hit really hurt. Even the LP. spire clip starts to add up more than scissor kick does. You can’t even throw fireball as Hawk with EX can punish on reaction, now that he can build meter so easily EX bar is almost always an option. Hawk is becoming really scary.

Here is a vid of me fighting a good Rose player, its pure footsie since Rose can zone Hawk pretty good.

This fight is super slow and boring. Best thing I found was to get life lead and run the timer and force Bison to come to you since Hawk has a good ground game. Use far st. fp chop to hit or trade with his scissor kick and bison st. rh…

To minimize Bison’s escape options a little, if you land a jab 360, don’t hesitate to Spire over his body to take his horizontal charge away. I recall Garamu using that in Bison matches frequently.

His focus is too slow for either of these to work. Seems like he has no combo into red focus… is he the only character without this?

Maybe I’m imagining things, but U2 seems even more reluctant to activate than ever before!

Indeed, T.hawk is the only one who can’t combo into EX Red Focus no matter what.

Probably would have been OP to combo red focus from a normal.

So has anyone used EX Tomahawk Buster FADC yet? It’s totally off my radar while playing.

I guess he was probably the only one who couldn’t combo into regular EX Focus already?.. Can’t think of anyone else…

Red focus combo is a no for Hawk I was in the lab looking for one.
EX toma fadc can’t be followed with nothing!! The only thing I tried is ex toma fadc blocked and ultra 1 grab lol. its really unexpected

Another tactic I use is after a cross up do c.lk, then standing mp. its not a combo but a frame trap. if the mp hits then link to lp toma… its really good and scary when you have an ultra 1 stocked up.

Hakan couldn’t in AE2012, but he can in USFIV.

Damn I totally forgot about the ex.tomahawk fadc lol. It seems useless.

That’s because it is :stuck_out_tongue: They should’ve made the forward dash cancellable into a special U2 that does low damage but can juggle. That would make it somewhat usable and please all the people who keeps nagging about making his U2 juggle, while still keeping it balanced.

Hmmm, If that combo was possible it would have done 410 with max ultra. Sounds fair in theory but then I’d always pick U2.

I meant to lower the damage quite a but, maybe to 350 damage unscaled, which means raw “EX DP xx FADC, U2” would end up doing 360 damage for 3 bars and full U1, and probably only in the corner.

I still can’t figure out a reason for fadc ex toma. Why not regular toma? Ex can be cancelled to hawk dive in the air so you only use 2 bars vs 3 with the fadc. Doesn’t make sense

the only reason combofiend gave was if your opponent was near the corner and you mess up your ex buster; you can now safely backdash without diving into the corner yourself. Still kinda lame tho.

Lol well with hawk being a grappler the average player try’s to stay back.
Only thing I found is blocked ex toma dash forward ultra seems to be really good. It doesn’t seem to have that disadvantage like say the Shoto dp fadc on block.

It’s completely useless but they just wanted to have it so they could say it’s another “buff” for Hawk.

Interesting that you say elena because I think hawk wins that matchup. As someone who’s trying to main elena in ultra, she tends to have a lot of problems against hugo and t. hawk. Like it feels like she has to take risks to get damage and if those risks don’t pay off either hugo or t. hawk can hit her once and she’s at a huge life disadvantage.

As far as his bad matchups go, a lot of them feel better. The new jab spire can whiff punish badly spaced blanka balls on reaction, which is something but if you’re going up against any blanka that knows what he’s doing it’s still going to be absurdly tough. The juri match up feels better, I’m not really sure why but it could be that I’m playing double ultra and juri players don’t really know when to sit still. The gouken matchup is probably worse but I don’t know since all the gouken’s I’ve fought online don’t seem to be using his stand short buff.

I’m on the fence about rolento and dudley being a bad matchup. I feel like that’s more matchup experience than anything in rolentos case and I just don’t see the dudley matchup changing that much with his new normals.

Outside of that it feels like most of his matchups are the same, or better because of the new walk speed and spire.
