USF4 | Tier List Thread (updated October 2015)

Maybe not 7 -3 but it’s definitely one of Elena’s few good matchups in the game, along with Balrog. I actually think the rog matchup is more advantageous than Deejay because all of his tools are very easily beaten by Elena’s. Probably her best MU in the game.

Why not 7-3? What tools does DJ have to make it 6-4 Elena?

elena seems to have the toolset that makes blanka give deejay trouble, but not quite as dominant. Blanka is arguably deejay’s HARDEST matchup.

People hate doling out 7-3’s though cause because SF4 is balanced that means every matchup is 5-5 or 6-4

Pretty much what Veserius said. I mean, unless knee shot whiffs on her crouching I’d be safer saying it’s 6 - 4. The only 7 -3 matchup i’d give to Elena is vs Balrog because literally none of his tools are effective against her, including his ultra.

knee shot whiffs on crouching elena

Of course it does. She doesn’t even have a hurtbox while crouching. She ignores Guys elbow too I believe.

as a rog player I can kinda agree that Elena does well against him, I’ve struggled against most Elena’s I’ve played and didn’t know what to do.

I also tried to chip her out with dash straight xx super once which is normally a blockstring, but I shit you not for some reason it isn’t against her. There’s a gap between one of the punches against her that she can mash out an ultra/dp from. Her hitbox is so dumb…

Sagat still loses to Ken, at least 6-4

Delayed Wake Up may have helped Sagat but Ken’s EX air Tatsu requiring you to block it high, Sagat’s tigershot recovery nerf, and Ken’s walkspeed increase just shit all over that…

How I’m feeling about my main and alts

That one was never going to change anyway. Delayed wake up wasn’t a big deal against Ken since any KD is dangerous for his cross ups, also with a general footsie buff even on paper it’s bad.

Sagat really needs the st.lk buff I feel, it’s like every match you just have to not only put up with that dead zone you’ve always had but the TS is slower now too. There is a fairy’s fart worth of new tech with Sagat and I can’t find one single use of the red focus cancel, same old same old. He’s strong but mid tier at very best. (in before someone points me to the Sagat players that made finals at SEA that have been maining him for 5 years).

Not a problem, I was just hoping he’d have some fun stuff to play with.

sagat feels wrong in this version with how he got weaker for what reason? I have no reason to believe sagats been overpowered in ae 2012. Now he feels like he needs a better get off me bnb combo.

Didn’t even bother trying Sagat in Ultra. He’s just wrong and most Sagat players I see always look like they’re struggling.

How many people here downgraded back to AE? I only did it because my buddies got the game for free and they got off their shooters long enough for me to establish myself king in their eyes.

Why exactly would a person who downgraded to AE discuss Ultra tiers?

Damn, 7 -3 confirmed lol

little did you know is that knee shot is garbage anyways

it misses more than just her while crouching doesnt it? i think ive low profiled it with other characters while missing inputs on crouching DPs

instant kneeshot will whiff on most everyone(i think it hits hawk, and probably hugo), but yes the move can be low profiled, and sometimes just like walking back a bit and hitting down back will be enough to do that.

even if you don’t low profile it enough to cause a whiff it gives you more time to anti air it, and it trades with a lot of normals which is great cause it does a whopping 30 damage now.

If you think about it like it is an overhead(which is basically is for him) and not as some sort of divekick type move, you realize how bad it is.

It’s most frequent use is to move forward against a fireball and keep SOME of your charge. This wouldn’t really be needed if his slide wasn’t the worst low profile slide in the game at avoiding fireballs.

Yeah that really is the thing…people think it’s a divekick that’s impossible to anti-air.

If you just **LOOK **at the goddamn move it should be obvious to anyone that low profile moves/crouching strikes will beat it.

yeah if deejay had another quicker overhead(st.hk or something), or a long range kara throw, kneeshot would be better as people would be less inclined to think they can db you for 99 seconds with a 20% lifelead.

when your overhead has trouble with downback and you have below average throw range you need something super dominant to overcome those difficulties and he has no tool that would grade out as anything higher than above average.
