Played and beaten convincingly, mind.

These results are kinda crazy though.

Smug beat Tokido? Dieminion beat Infiltration? Alucard beating Mochi? Xiao Hai beating everybody?

Wow surprised mago sticking with yang vs rog

Not punishing dash low come on mago

Imo PR rog has the best chance of taking kazunoko out

As a fan of Kazunoko i have to admit that 801 Strider is absolutely ridiculous and incredibly exciting to watch. Yun vs Abel is already tough but Strider did great in the beginning in the winners finals but eventually Kazunoko adapted very well. Strider is amazing at shutting down the divekick. The way the matchup played out the last rounds in grand finals is how normally the matchup should go…however Kazunoko couldn’t get that started at all when they met in winners finals before.

Ayway i’m very happy Kazunoko qualified for Capcom Cup, however i would really also like to see 801 Strider, Smug and PR Balrog ending up in the cup also.
People will most likely moan about Yun though now…even more than before and not giving credit where its due, the player.

The Yun-Abel matchup is already very tough, PR Rog might have had the better chance against Kazunoko as he has a better character matchup but above all, he’s really good against highly offense players. However Strider took him out so he earned his chance for a rematch.

Would have been pretty cool to see a Kauznoko vs Mago with the twins in grandfinals of a major, however a USA player vs a Japanese players is a lot more hype.

Lastly, why did Mike ask such a ridiculous question at the end comparing US vs Japan regarding playerskill, i mean it was completely out of place. Should have asked Kazunoko his thoughts about qualifying finally. Gootecks did the exact same thing at a tournament where he completely disregarded the fact the player won a tourney and all he wanted to know about was USA this, USA player that etc. (think it was Canada Cup?) Those questions are fine…just now asking them to a winner of said tourney at that moment, very inappropriate.

It was a great winners finals set but once Kazunoko got it down Strider didn’t have much of a shot.

Man i’d love to know what PR said to strider and his coach

They should have let rog win…US would have taken it

Coaching during matches shouldn’t happen.

Yeah this was a little ridiculous, the guy just wins the entire event and he gets two questions from Mike Ross, “What do you think of 801 Strider?” and “How good is the US?”

why?

Idk, I’m fine with coaching after or before the match itself, or between rounds or matches in a set, but I feel like players should just play the game itself when a round is going on.

Of course, the crowd itself is basically a million coaches in a big tournament so probably this is irrelevant.

Most impressive win of Kazunoko in the tournament was vs. SnakeEyez imo, since he showed off how fucking ridiculous his footsie game is.
He blew him up without using divekicks, just poking him to death.

Man, Kazunoko is crazy. First took the Guilty Gear Xrd tourney, then won a major USF4 tourney? And all in one day, on top of that? He is not human

On a related topic, what the fuck is going on with the Asian players at CEO? Daigo, Xiaohai, Gamerbee, Tokido, Mago, Fuudo, Bonchan, Infiltration - all got rekt, how’s that possible?

Especially Daigo, dude’s washed up again

When a major is really stacked it’s easy for someone who is a top 20 player in the world to not make top 8.

math is op

CEO was a bracket of killers.

Alot of the Japanese players have been “on the road” so to speak for the better part of the past few weeks, first to LA, then to Bangkok, then back to the west to Orlando, so fatigue may have something to do with it. That said, I can totally believe that these guys were sandbagging. You have to consider that alot of these guys (Daigo, Tokido, Momochi, etc.) are already qualified for Capcom Cup, so there’s less at stake for them and with Evo coming up, it does play into their advantage for players to think of them as less of a threat.

They also said for them it’s not about who wins Capcom Cup, but about who makes the most money on this years Pro Tour.

I’m pretty sure whoever wins Capcom Cup will probably win the most money out of everyone else for the whole year. You get about 8-10k for winning a Premier Event depending on how many people enter. Even if you win EVO which is probably 30k for 1st, you’d still need to win probably 10 more Premier Events to equal the hypothetical guy who wins Capcom Cup and nothing else.

I don’t buy them sand bagging but I can buy these guys being fatigued since they’ve been around the world these past few weeks. They’ll be well rested for EVO so we’ll see how they perform then.

Flying from Asia to Florida can’t be cheap. I have a hard time a believing these guys flew over and left several thousand dollars on the table to sand bag. Especially Bonchan, who has no sponsor. There is more money to be had in SF than ever and these guys are trying to get as much money as they can. Who knows how long Sony will throwing in 500k pot bonuses for Street Fighter. I hope and I think that SFV will do well, but if it doesn’t . Then prize pools will plummet.
