USF4 | Stream Commentary Thread

lol 2nd time bonchan said “fuck you infiltration, im gonna own you” in a team match.

I wish bonchan won more he is so sick

Man, no one is there. ://///////////

I mean come fucking on, didnt any of those Canadians freakin have friends or family theyd bring to see stuff and support them against the world?!!?!?! This is so stupid that no one is there watching these matches! No wonder Xian went to Dubai, Id rather go there and be in an awesome hotel than in a mostly empty room.

Lapchi is a terrible street fighter player.

I’ve played him in person and he actually does play this way in serious tournament matches. He trolls intentionally on stream because he knows he’ll get beat down bad so he pretends to troll so he can later say"yeah I was just having fun."

He did the same shit to me and unfortunately all the players on team Canada suck bad.

God they put TTT2 and KOF 13 at the beginning of the day, then aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaalllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllll boring ass sf4 ae and then mahvel 3. :S Why not have the sf 4 pools before the ttt2 and kof 13 matches so you break stuff up a bit and then all the finals happen at reasonable times? Justin and Ricky are there so its gonna be Rufus fat asses all over the place worse than today.

Why are you posting in a SF4 commentary thread if you don’t like SF4 ? Why not go to kof/tt2 threads and talk/watch what you like ?

  1. it’s Friday and a lot of people have to work

  2. spectating was initially going to be free for the first two days (paid on Sunday) but they had capacity concerns and changed to a $15 3-day pre-reg spec pass which is a turnoff for people who just want to swing by to see their friends

  3. Friday was only sf 5v5 beginning matches, SFxT, and injustice. There isn’t a whole lot of draw for the latter games. I’m playing in CC and I didn’t even bother to go yesterday because I had some other priorities.

That being said, it’s still a suspiciously low turnout… Hope today is better…

These tournaments need to invest in advertising. I know they dont have money, but they need to have a fund raising effort for advertising to get people to know about them. If people dont know about these things theres no way to make them want to come out. I missed the SF 25th anniversary tournament in Austin last year, that should have been huge on tv news stations and all over town. Go out and get free advertising at local news stations, that way youll also get them to see us and theyll know what were really like and make MIT games lab look like idiots by trying to paint us all as one person.

Who ever said there were capacity issues is probably kicking themselves right now, and if I was them Id be trying my hardest to make up for it. Charging people for attending is pretty stupid when the stream is free. They needed to do something to really make people want to come and not just stay home and watch the stream.

Holy shit Sherry and this Ibuki player are both hot garbage.

Lol one if the ugliest games iv seen in a while

If you didn’t know better one could confuse that hot mess as super high level yomi!

You can’t get more money into fighting games because of their low accessibility and I’m not talking about the learning curve.
Let’s face it:

The only games where it’s actually a viable career path to play on a professional level are Dota 2, League of Lameasses and Starcraft 2.
2 of those games are accessible by everyone since they’re free to play and the other one is the only balanced and fun real time strategy game on the market being backed by a multi million dollar company who blows God knows what into the e-sports side of things in order to promote it.

Dota 2 peaks at 500k-600k users online playing the fucking game around the world and League probably has 5 times the regular userbase.
There have been 1 million people watching The International 3 finals on stream and in the client the revenue from that alone probably dwarves the fat prize pool of the event and is more advertisement than any commercial could ever do for you.
Also you’re not facing gay shit like subscribers only chat or shitty quality without buying premium to watch those games.
I’m watching 100k viewers streams in Dota 2 at 1080p every day without having to drop a single penny and that was already the case when the game was in early beta and had 5k viewer streams…

If you want bigass tournaments other than EVO once a year and a game that keeps a huge playerbase, you got to let go of 20 year old commercializing concepts, which the Japanese don’t seem to be able to catch onto,

Not many sponsors want to take part in games that peak at 10k stream viewers when they can promote their products at the fat Dota 2 and LoL streams.

Another big problem with these games and their playerbases is that they are split on 3 systems.
You got people on PS3, Xbox and Pc and people are not able to play with each other which sucks a lot.

You can make careers out of playing those games? As in living comfortably, paying all the bills, etc just from playing those games?

Yeah.

Wanna add that you can already live properly with the money you earn from just being a streamer without a professional contract, if you got a decent viewerbase (which is tough to achieve if you’re not a pro).
Sure you’d earn less money than a burgerflipper at McDonalds but at least you’d be doing something you actually like to do.

And this surprises you?

The level of play isn’t surprising, the fact they put it on stream is.

Hey when you flirt and blow all the organizers and top players I’d expect a stream match at the very least!

I’m just waiting till the Canada cup guys fight ha.

Wait a second you got Sasha Grey as avatar and a quote of her in your sig and at the same time you’re judging Sherry and making fun of her for sucking cocks?

WAT

Strange way to describe the dull monotony of high-level Starcraft 2. SC2 is the only strategy game on the market, pretty much.
Blizz is losing money on WCS (it doesn’t benefit them the way LCS does Riot), WCS is killing basically all other SC2 tournaments. WCS will end inevitably, boxed product business model + money-losing league isn’t a sustainable recipe. Then you’ve got a dead tournament scene and a boring, monotonous game. Brood War will outlive SC2 in all likelihood, unless the second expansion does some major (and I mean MAJOR) retooling. Given the SC2 dev team being a bunch of arrogant asses and I’m working on the coffin already.

Remember Street Fighter?

I don’t actually play SC2 cuz Battle.net 2.0 was fucking garbage, but compared to fighting games it’s a fucking hot chocolate cake with tits on top of it (I mean in terms of online play and social interface).

All I heard was that the expansion made the game fun, but yeah I was wondering how they sustain their pro scene with a boxed game.
Thanks for bringing some insight into my ramblings.
