I felt Vanilla, Super and AE/AE2012 were actually quite decent on PC. Ultra has been a bit of a fiasco, though I largely attribute that to the donkeys at QLoc.
The PC version of AE was pretty much the best version there was until this crap started happening. And actually their PC ports have been really great (DmC was fantastic, Strider is excellent, DMC4…) You don’t know what you’re talking about.
I think it’s interesting that some people are having perfect matches while others are barely playable. I went back and played AE when the first Steam patch dropped and I didn’t notice anything different really and I haven’t bothered to get Ultra. Those of you having problems, what are you running the game on?
We mean perfect games when it comes to online play you motherfucker, a few frames of lag is to be expected when playing online (and everyone here knows that, hence the term online tactics/warriors), i’m sorry that it does not replicate the “offline” experience that you were hoping for after the patch, or meet your ridiculously high expectations for the net code. It works just fine for some of us, i just finished having a close to “perfect” lag less match a few minutes ago, happy now, is that accurate? Fuck you i’m outta here.
playing local people (pings under 10ms) in private Endless = AOK
playing the same locals in Ranked = absolute SHIT
sitting in training mode with Fight Request On = absolute SHIT
ping, network polling between players are freezing the game renderer. plain and simple!
what takes them so long to fix this (if ever)?
can’t say that I have so much trouble with ranked as some of you here. most matches are absolutely fine on my end.
still the online experience with GFWL was better.
menu freezes are still there, mainly during searching in ranked mode.
Decided to upgrade, since in Europe things are supposedly better. Tried playing against players from various regions in ranked. 20 matches. Did the necessary port-forwarding and changed game and graphic settings. 3/4 of the connections were fine.
Sometimes there would be a freeze for few seconds, followed by dead inputs, meaning a lost match. One time game did slow down in the second round.
Still, game felt sluggish, compared to GFWL. Needless to say, I lost all matches, even those few I was supposed to win. Had forgotten how frustrating SF4 online was.
I didnt even try to do any advanced stuff, just few simple moves and specials. For more advanced stuff it is impossible.
alright, just wanted to make sure. I seem to have a pretty decent internet connection anyway so I’m probably not as much affected from the netcode problems as other players.
On the same PC I tried the game also on Windows XP, currently the OS of the poor, just to be sure.
Regarding online freezes, same issues
But there were no menu freezes during search! Also Win XP is better regarding input latency so I felt a slight difference for the better. Made few wins and arcade stick felt more responsive.
Yet in benchmark I got a lower score compared to Windows 7 (105 fps vs 134 fps)
also in Endless, it seems you can enter a lobby even while there is a game going on. No need to wait for it to finish.So quite a few lobbies appear on search
Interesting. I wonder if the TCP stack has a slightly different MTU in Windows XP compared to say Windows 7 or 8 that makes a real difference. If I recall this can be tweaked via the registry.

I’m thinking of abandoning SF4 too and just play SF2 on GGPO.
I’m too used to having great customer service and weekly bugfix patches without having to pay anything from Dota 2.
When I’ve spent like 80€ in total for a game, I get really pissed when I get the cold shoulder about something that used to work, but they screwed up and refuse to fix it.
Especially if for me as an online warrior, it’s the most important feature of them all.
Fuck Ono and shame on the news staff that doesn’t post negative shit about the game like it deserves.
they release extra DLC costumes for 30 Euro instead. We’re not the users they target obviously. Really I wouldnt mind if the game synchronized between rounds like in KOF. But in-game freeze in ranked matches is unacceptable. I havent spent enough time on ranked where matches would be that close to be decided by a freeze. But it has happened in endless. On the other hand GFWL would remove PP and BP if there was a disconnection or out of nowhere. But this occured rarely.
