Worst part for me so far is the lack of opponents. I live in sweden and have a sick connection and had no problem playing people all over the world.
As for gameplay I havent noticed much difference. But i feel looking for games, menues, etc is worse. Also, my SF was translated to swedish which was hilarious, but now its english again.
My SF4 always ran well on GFWL, since yesterday I’ve had choppy sound and laggy online matches. Hope it gets sorted soon or I’ll have to dust my PS3 off…
Not surprising that the online play for this game is actually going backwards considering what the priorities of the community actually are.
i hope so, because this is seriously outrageous, its like they didnt even test an online match before releasing this
Also the new update broke the ability to mod the gameplay for now. Modified character files cause the game to hang on load screen even in training room. Seems they are prepping for ultra though because there are references to the new characters hidden in some of the files hex (mentions of DCP.bac (Decapre) PSN.bac (Poison) for example).
Yesterday was very laggy, probably because too many users were connected at the same time. I played a few matches today and it was a lot better. As for the lag, the steam overlay is known to cause a lot of input lag and slow downs, so you’d better disable it. The rest of the bugs (announcer, sound, mic, region lock etc) will need to be patched though and Capcom doesn’t have the best track record in the world with these things.
Its not even a an alpha build its a raw development build.
Few things to try to get rid of the lag :
- Check if you’re still on Fixed Framerate with Vsync off
- Disable the Steam overlay for the game ( right click the game in library, properties )
just went back to GFWL and tried some matchs , and noticed that ther’s more delay input online compared to the steam version , however its consistent so you can quickly adapt, the steam version hang up and stutter but has less input lag, not to mention the disconnect
Just found out SOMETHING good came out of this. They fixed at least one of the PC only gameplay issues. Guy’s EX Tatsu is now the proper 4F start up. In the GFWL version it was 6F. They might have fixed a couple of other PC only inconsistencies.
Yeah it’s still pretty bad after one day.
I have an very good internet ( 95 down, 75 up ) and I was lagging pretty damn hard against a German guy with a green connection. I never had these issues before.
I’ve been playing SF4 on steam a long time. Total online warrior here.
This represents my PERSONAL experience (my computer and internet are good):
Pros:
- Can change name (+1 point)
- Faster log-in (+1 point)
- WinLive account not needed (+1 point)
- More people seem to be using voice now (+2 points)
- Fix of slight mismatches in gameplay to console versions (+2 points)
Cons:
- When attempting to connect to a 1v1 room that has filled, it seems to take a lot longer for the game to realize this and kick you back to the menu. (-2 points)
- Choppy connections are handled differently. During momentary connection problems or severe lag, input will now drop entirely. This means you can’t block. Previously, your last known input (such as backdashing, blocking, jumping, or jabbing), would repeat until the lag ends, which was better. (-10 points)
- Contacting and messaging unfriended opponents is much more difficult. My understanding is you must add them as a steam friend and have them accept first. (-10 points)
Overall the game is still fine IMO, but the change has been negative so far. I have the console versions and still would rather play PC for the benefit of simpler streaming and not having to turn another system on and off to play a game.
endless seems to lag/disconnect way more than ranked for whatever reason
I can’t change my country, therefore I’m bound to stay in Canada with almost non existent players :I
it dosnt even recognize my flag ._. , am getting that grey unknown flag
This port’s an absolute mess. Endless disconnects way too much which results in having to face try-hard kids on Ranked. Hopefully the devs could get around to the biggest problem (connection) in a few days so that this thing is actually playable.
“I guess the extra bandwidth with every mic on is causing more lag because it has to send the data to everyone.”
This was true for GFWL…sometimes mics would cause delay…I don’t really know about Steam yet…well it’s day 2…and I’m sure it’s been like 15 updates so far so lets see
Also I made a topic in Steam Forum asking Capcom to provide me documentation on why paid DLC could not be transferred to Steam and they deleted my thread
I don’t know what to do now
I really want to play the game but it’s really frustrating with all the issues…
best we could do is to tweet to David hinds @dawgtanian and combofiend @TheComboFiend , i already did , am really worried that they leave the game as it is, or that they dont fix it till Ultra release
Region locked to specific countries in a continent with over 50 nations, are you fucking kidding me? I live in Finland, how many games will I ever find unless I change the “download region” to Germany from steam settings? And even then it’s a total lottery, hoping that other people from Nordic countries etc do the same.
Imagine buying a game that was region locked to different US states.
This is the worst thing that has happened to Street Fighter PC-wise. I hope they fix this but I’m not holding my hopes up considering in what state SFxT still is.
