Have to say the problem is much deeper than just lag in matches, I actually get game freezes now(even when not in a match, it happens even in menus), which weren’t there before steamworks, the games today were specially laggy, pretty much unplayable. They should fix it before ultra or the whole community will start leaving the game, has it stands u can’t rly play at any decent level, performing even the most basic combo is unreliable cause u never know when the game will stutter or freeze, allways showing up the connection issue mid game.
is it just me, or has the player skill level decreased substantially?
It’s not just you. The players I’ve played on Steam have been beyond terrible. I mean REALLY bad.
I chose to play the PC version of AE2012 because it was the absolute best version on all fronts: graphics, performance, and (almost) lagless play. I was saddened by the fact that Capcom delayed the release, but I got it; they have to make their dough on the consoles, first.
As many of you, I’m hoping that the USF4 port is complete and fully tested because if it’s anything like this Steam version, I’m done.
For what it’s worth, USF4 for Xbox360 is decent. My PC (GFWL) AE2012 games had slightly less lag and looked better, but I’m much happier playing the Xbox version rather than this Steam(ing pile of crap) version.
It’s worth it to get on the 360 for the competition alone. I imagine many good players abandoning the PC. I know that I’ll be waiting until I get some good reports before I drop another 15.
is it just me, or does this game lag even in arcade mode with fight request off?
cuz it was lagging for me. swear to god.
arcade mode.
i didnt have lags but rather micro freezs on training/arcade mode, but its really random and not consistent … fuck this , i refuse to pay for a piece of outdated shit like xbox to play SF4, i hate you capcom … i have really bad hope for this port, the rendering engine seems to be fucked badly, i cant imagine theme re do heavy coding on it
So far right now I’m playing with no issues if the player is a LEGIT green connection…feels better than GFWL and console when I’m able to play consistant in green with these settings below
Also high-res modded stages + high res modded skins will cause some issues but w/e I’m using my mods fuck that
Yes V-Sync is on and I had no issues compared to GFWL…I still saw this port needs work but when it works…it WORKS…
These settings don’t hurt image quality imo…

Someone posted this. I followed it an im impressed. The games runs great.
I was always against v-sync being on but it seems that turning it on your desktop graphics settings does the game wonders. Do not turn it on within the game.
This is the only change i made and thus far the game has been running great.
My only problem now is that the game crashes from time to time after selecting an opponent. if there isnt lag this game runs better than gfwl
BTW is there a group of pc players that play regularly?
why would you play an outdated broken game? might as well play super sf2 on snes lmao
tried the game on the old Windows XP partition.
regarding offline input lag it still runs noticeably better than Windows 7.
As backwards as it sounds, even for USF4 Windows XP should be the OS of choice…
Thats nothing new… its been discussed here for years. It was the only way to play without tearing and reduce input lag on GFWL.
VSYNC OFF in game & VSYNC ON in Graphics drivers.
The problem Im seeing is “Waiting for Opponent…” popping up most matchs & dropped inputs.
VSYNC ON in GAME and OFF in Graphics Drivers for Steam version is the new Method…
but I havent tested this fully online its just a theory. Maybe its just a buggy implementation.
Been playing on PS3 Ultra Damn I hate PS3 its poor compared to PC GFWL >:(
This method became popular because the GFWL version of the game did vsync without triple buffering. The game doesn’t have its own vsync, it just makes calls to the dx api. This method was a placebo btw, most dx settings in the ati/nvidia control panel, like triple buffering, don’t work, you need to use a different utility to apply triple buffering. The steam version has triple buffering enabled with vsync, so having it set to on in game is the way to go.
I’ve been a way for a bit. Why do some people play on PS3. I mean those that have 360 also, I see them on PS3 instead… Unless my circle of friends are just masochists.
What if we run the game in XP mode…
Anyone tried port forwarding these ports to see if it makes a difference:
UDP 3478 (Outbound)
UDP 4379 (Outbound)
UDP 4380 (Outbound)
I have all these PF’d
udp 3478
udp 4379
udp 4380
tcp 80
tcp 3074
udp 3074
udp 88
tcp 53
udp 53
tcp 443
I don’t know how to go back to GFWL with AE, so I went back to vanilla.
Here’s hoping capcom shakes the bugs out before vanilla goes dark.
Yeah, this is really (moderately) upsetting. Got some matches that were just right, thought things might be okay, then nope. Stuttering and constant lag come back. Player quality/ quantity already seems to be dropping.
just load up gfwl ae…if you didnt uninstall it/delete/transfer it should be workin
Tried that. It was stupidly terrible. Setting witht the graphics drivers have done wonders for me.
