Ookay… so I got 3DS Max. NOW how do I import/export all the shapes, files, and textures?

Just open the smd file in notepad, it lists all the bone names. Just take the number to their left and -1 from it to find the bone ID.

Hah, I also worked on this but couldn’t finish it. Great to see you did it. Hope it works for me. I had various complications with buttons.

Wow, I had a way older version. They open a google code page with the new one. 5 Minutes job to remap. This was impossible to do with the old one.

It’s slow but so far seems to work when I just export an object as smd and reinject it back as an emg into a character. But i can’t test whether or not original/edited SMDs would work in game. Milkshape doesn’t properly import or export SMDs - bone assignments are all screwy and also doesn’t have a weight painting feature. Blender actually works when I import SMDs, but on export it rearranges the order of the bones.

sloth I’m having problems with the OBJ2EMG every time I use it, it never gets done I waited for like an hour and nothing is still happening

Hey, nice work so far. I believe there are plug-ins for Max (probably others, too). You can probably make your script arrange the bones although it might take a lot of work if you’re going to move chunks of text. What other formats does Blender use? I hope this works for me.

Dunno. I would try not using spaces in the file names and in the mesh name. It might also be because your .obj has too high a poly count. If you can, try making your model lower res, less vertices, less triangles, etc… I think it took about 2 min to convert my darth vader mask from obj to emg. 1 hour seems way too long.
