@Augh
I don’t think anyone was really suggesting any theft (or at least I would hope not). If an artist doesn’t want his/her work to be used by other people, it’s their (copy)right.
@alek: I’d say put the kneeguards actually on her knees, but the real Taki has them where you put them too ;p It gives a cool sortof heavy boot effect that way too. Nice with matching Ibuki and Taki, I’m amazed noone went ahead with it yet.
@hunter: Yeah I know, I just think we can do so much more than like lego re-releases. There’s been some supreme efforts made by these people in this thread that just prove what you can do if you go for it.
@alek: You both did good man, small feedback for you: You got some verts doing something crazy as hell in her flank, around the bottom of the ribcage. They go nuts and wobble a lot during win pose mostly, uncertain what to look for, possible something there assigned to perhaps breastbone. All I can think of that jiggles so much ;p
I put her as my alt 2, I don’t usually do that, whee.
@mugen: The function in Max is called Bone Limit, I think it’s called “Squash” in Blender (I’m totally lost in Blender, I use it only to pass SMD format from SF4 to Max and back again). Like I said a while ago, feel totally welcome to look me up on Steam if you got that, we could maybe fix up that Sonic model of yours too. Actually might have something you could help me with too(?)
Ok yeah Googling for it is bringing up the SRK thread here where sensibeat talked about it:
“I open the .blend in Blender 2.49b, I use the “Mesh/Weight squash” script from the Blender NIF Scripts to match the 4 bones per vertex count”
If you want to do basically the same as cloning weights in Blender, do this in Max;
Put modifier “Skin Wrap” on your mesh, “add mesh” (in the box that appears at the toolbar when you select the Skin Wrap), click the thing you’re cloning weights off so it appears in the box there, and hit “convert to skin”. Then you have weighted Skin modifier on your mesh. In the Skin modifier scroll down a little and you’ll see a box marked Bone Limit, which is set to 20 by default. Set that shit to 4 (which obv, limits the bones effecting each vert to 4 maximum) and you should be good.
Again, awesome work! I would have never thought Soulcalibur IV model data would translate so well into SFIV. I have only one suggestion, tweak the bodysuit to have a some gloss. It’s a bit too matte, Taki’s bodysuit is almost metallic shiny, but in this case I would go with Juri’s 3p catsuit shiny. Other than that, a top notch conversion!
However, there seems to be a few small issues. Colors 3 and up seem to have her skin as metallic up to her face (whole skin texture is metallic). The first two colors work fine. Additionally, I just found that this SC model is apparently too much for the game. If I run Ibuki Vs Ibuki with this model the game will lock or crash. One Ibuki vs anyone else seems to work fine though. Might be making my system stutter a bit (not sure, gotta play test it without a million other things running). Each of her col files are quite large, about 8MB larger than any standard col file. (the game crashes with the matte version as well) Perhaps this is the issue. Finally, the metallic version of the colors are treated oddly. Like black is now very gray/silver. I suppose this is side effect, perhaps correctable by darkening the overall colors?
This is easily my favorite skin/model for this game. I gotta brush up on my Tabuki
Edit: On second thought, the game seems stable with two Tabukis. Perhaps it was continually starting and quitting that made it goofy. But after a good restart and some serious testing, the original skin works perfectly with no crashes. Sorry about that.
(Using google translator) very good this mod, it contributes to a SSF.IV-AE? in ten colors would be even better …
