Edit: nvm, the guy yanked it, no stable download. Also, if paintshoppro can write the .psd format for photoshop, gimp fully supports that.

anyone know where i can get stage rips from 2d games with all the layers separated?

i tried gimp with dds plugin and it gives an error.

Am I really that unlucky?

Depending on the system, you might be able to find a tile viewer. It looks like MAME has one built-in…? for Capcom games, I hear Kawaks has some tile viewer functionality, too.

@sloth86: Willing to bet you could pillage MUGEN resource forums/sites pretty hard. Gotta be a goldmine of stuffs out there floating around. That’s where I’d start.

Awesome! i can tell you all i know about EMO file if you need…i know sf4 explorer’s source code isn’t always clear when i looked through it. As far as making costume mods, the only thing thats impossible for me right now is i can’t edit the animation skeleton to add bones for custom loose fitting clothes/hair…but this has to do with BSR files too because thats where i assume the properties for those bones are defined.

But yeah EMO is pretty much the model it has the EMGs in it and also the skeleton in its ref pose for characters. EMG is a 3d mesh…tells you vertex positions, uv coords, triangles, etc and also which material from EMM the mesh uses and which textures from EMBs.

I know you probably seen this stage modded for sf4 before but i added my own twist to it. Instead of just editing the textures on the walls of the training stage, i created my own geometries so you actually get parallax between the different layers of the stage (ie you get more of a 3d feel). Here’s the geometries i made for it if youre interested:

i created sort of a half box shape for each layer, assigned the textures to the inside walls, and used alpha channels in the DDS’s to create transparency areas in the texture. I just made a narrow box for the floor, it works out well for this particular stage because the ground doesn’t fade into the horizon like most other stages.The sky is this dome shaped mesh that I actually extracted from some other stage…because of it’s dome shaped, the shape of the moon is kind of messed up - although i fixed this a little by editing the texture. Finally i swapped in the lighting from south africa night stage for good measure.

The only issue is during the intro/win sequences it shows the side walls of the boxes which are just the same repeated texture as the back wall. Might look a little awkward, but i figure it would be better than having no side walls at all and see the back layers suddenly cut off at the sides.

I love your Pandora mods dude nice work. I got a quick question for you. On the Glowing effect do you have to color the material to get it to glow that particular color or is there a different code for different color effects. I ask only because I borrowed Oni’s Eye effect to test it out and all I get is a White glow. Thanks

The emission effect just creates a glow of whatever color the texture is. So, yes you do.

EDIT: if you would like to try using some MAME rips, here’s a bundle of Street Fighter Alpha assets that kedawa uploaded to the vanilla modding thread awhile back. I’ll upload the HDR assets I found on some mugen forums, as well.

@ellipson no, anyone know how to do that? i swapped in the vfx files from south africa stage (renamed STG_AFX files to STG_TRN) but it’s still rocks not wood planks.

I was bored. Don’t think the artwork was suited so well, but I guess anything works better than Bison. Dunno if I caught them all, make sure to back up.

That title screen could be kinda cute so guess I’ll do that too.

I managed to do it with sensibeats, I think to make it work you have to use one of the patch folders, but a rename does work for that effect.
