Is that supposed to be a link to the mod of the image I posted?o_O
Hey everybody, sloth86 just put out some awesome tools to extract/inject the baked-in ambient occlusion data from the models, which is what causes the ugly shadows underneath toggled objects.
I wrote a tutorial for using his tools to get rid of the shadows:
To āSSF4 - Arcade Edition Modding Wikiā
Chun-Li - Jeans Pack:
05/10/11: Fixed yellow reflections and cell shading artifacts. Enhanced and renewed jean details to extreme. Chun-Li Jeans Pack adapted to Capcom technical graphic coherences (ilumination and shading). Probably the last version.

Is it possible to use the sf4 announcer for AE?
Thanx -Um so thatās a negatory on the split-hole-in-my-jeans-right-in-my-crotch-coz-I-wore-jeans-to-a-streetfight version then?
Yeah but is that a link to the actual mod of the hakan oil effect on another character? coz if it is itās too hard to reach coz I donāt speak Japanese and babelfish doesnāt help. -but thanks
I had planned to do a short jean too, but Chun-Li is an adult woman and would look something bold, and I discard the idea ⦠Especially when I stupidly overwrote the source file photoshop and Iāve lost a lot of layers and that discouraged me a bit ā¦
As for the ripped jeans in the crotch⦠Iām a little tired and with little time, but if you give me a high resolution photograph of the face of that red flower with two emeralds that is in your avatar, I start to design the Chun-Li ripped jean.
lol! I was just joking around -but okay coz it would be pretty funny to see especially with spinning-bird kick lol. So which avatar do you want coz Iāve been changing it around till now. Not my current polaroid? (why would you want that? -nevermind donāt answer that lol)
Awesome find but at the same time discouraging. If the vfx switches on the reflection in the SpcBumpBrushOilSSS_UV1_W material, how can we ever use it without sacrificing our own models vfx? Copying the files over to the HKN folder is also not a good option for modding use, other way round doesnāt seem to work ā¦
Now I know it would look PERFECT on my new mod but I may never be able to use it Thanks, Recycler, for destroying my dreams
Anyone come up with a solution?
@Sikanda
If you want it shiny all the time, the normal/specularity map thing is probably your best bet. You could also change the material to one of the metal properties to get a good reflection.
On the other hand, swapping in Hakanās vfx can be fun. It makes Blanka sweat profusely
@ Zenou
Iām not sure if you have seen this skin but this might be what you are looking for. Sagat wearing ordinary looking clothes.

@hunterk
I will go for the specularity approach now, but its boring compared to what I saw when I swapped to hakan. Yeah ok, I give up
@HunterK I was reading the tutorial for the AO tools and removing shadows. I downloaded AO extractor and injector and followed the instructions but when I tried to extract the my renamed raw dump emg I kept getting an array error. any ideas as to what Iām doing wrong??
Iāve gotten those errors, too, occasionally. I donāt know what causes them. Possibly just slight problems with the program. Which model are you having problems with and I can try to reproduce the issue.
In the meantime, if youāre just trying to get rid of shadows and not actually modify the existing AO map, you can just make a generic all-gray bitmap (size doesnāt matter, apparently, even down to 1x1 pixel) and inject that without ever extracting the old map.
@ Hunterk I was trying to create my own shirtless model for Balrog, but I was just trying out the tutorial using the Brutal Balrog skin cause I noticed the shadow on his collar bone area and wanted to get rid of itā¦
Silly question cause Iām not sure how do i make an all grey bitmap?
Just a lil something I am working onā¦If anyone wants it let me know. I figure people might be a lil tired of all the Bārog skins.

@MaesterWar
Just open your paint program and create a new file of any resolution and paint it all a flat gray color (EFEFEF or FFFFFF work pretty well). Save it as a BMP with the appropriate options and you should be good to go. Or, you can just download this quick one I made that should work to blank out any model if you inject it.
Donāt worry about focusing on a single character. Everybody has their favorites to mod (usually the ladiesā¦), and Balrog deserves some love, too.
Iāve noticed in those screenshots that the shadow has disappeared from the wrist, but is shaded in the hand. That shadow in the hand is present in the gameplay?
Yes, youāll have to do the same thing on the hands.
hunterk wrote it at the end of the tutorial:
