Amazing work ! I could have done much more from this kind of template… I hope someone’s gonna use it to build a lot of stages now^^.

Thanks for the various further infos on my voodoo reflectivity/ambient thing, gonna keep trying some stuff out today.

And omg new stage stuff is cool. I just struggle to find sources of art or I’d probably have done some attempts so far, will keep an eye out!

Sloth, any chance you’re making the Vanille skin all colors?
I just love this skin but that’s the only reason I’m not using it.

Still trying things out, for reference of anyone struggling in future with this same object/material strangeness;

Pipeline: Model/Alter in 3DS Max > Export .obj > Resave .obj in MM3D > OBJTOEMG assigning bone, meshname and ambient value > EMGSWAP > SSF4AE

Renaming objects to existing material names in the .obj - no changes visible
Changing ā€œambient valueā€ from FDFDFD (253/253/253 RGB offwhite) to BABABA (186/186/186 midgrey - this is the ambient environ color of 3DS Max) - visible change in asset viewer, no change ingame

Thinking of new stuff to try, will try and keep reporting things without filling the thread with bullshit.

Subtopic; Is there any simple way to get the very high res Ryu background training stage from a couple of pages back with the normal, non purple lights? :smiley:

  • I think fixed the bug that made the textures messed up at the seams.
  • Also fixed the bug that made the EMGs appear too shiny. (had to normalize ambient occlusion vectors)
  • Change the default ambient occlusion value to EFEFEF, it’s a bit darker and in my opinion, matches other game models better.
    -Changed the exe icon to a puppy dog

I havent gotten to test it much yet, so you guys let me know it it works and fixes things for you.

I think the art style is too different to really work, but kinda cute still.

Wierd texture seam errors - FIXED.
Material error with high reflectivity on EMG - FIXED.

Script took a fair deal longer to complete on a couple of the objects, but I’d guess that is to be expected, or unrelated. Thanks a ton, and those who helped with other attempted fixes too.

Could have at least used an image of Bruce Lee as Kato instead of that ā€œthingā€ they called The Green Hornet film

Note that is really my only complaint. Too bad there isn’t an easy way to remove the M. Bison logo on the hat.

FuchsiaBlue Chun is gdesslk! Perfect in my opinion and Capcom should think about picking that up!

Augh, idk why but Ibuki reminds me of a different character without the mask. Very badass to see! Reminds me of a character from Vagabond / Musashi. Did you also change the hair too?

Berserker! Evil OniMUSHA Ryu! He really looks like Samanosuke as an Oni from the game Onimusha. Was that the inspiration? Love this, I really wanna see it in motion. Makes me really happy. SF and Onimusha are still my current top fave games even though most people aren’t playing Onimusha anymore.

PIUMA! I’ve been trying to get a different Bearded Ryu with scars and making him look like a SF5 Ryu. Great job man. Others have changed the beard but for some reason kept playing with the gi top, one shoulder out of the gi, and other changes. I really like this one and you made me totally happy in pants! Two of the three top Capcom artists Ikeno and Akiman, have drawn Ryu with a beard.

I’m trying to save an image for your stage template using 3840x1920 DXT1 w/mipmaps, but I’m getting an error about not being able to save w/mipmaps on non-power-of-2 textures, leaving me with an incorrect filesize. Any idea what’s going wrong?

@hunterk: I had the same trouble yeah, I was tending to blame GIMP.

No easy way, they didn’t handled the models of the stages the same way. :stuck_out_tongue:

That should be an issue with gimp.
Tell me what format you can handle (1 mipmap, no mipmap?), I’ll edit the stage dds and upload the emz.

I think it’s going to require no mipmap. Thanks for going through the trouble.
