USF4 On PS4

Yeah people forget it was the move to Steamworks that fucked it all up. AE PC was great.

You’re just going to buy it again when it’s fixed.

Is the game region locked ? because it seems that way to me. I have bought the game from my US PS account since it was the one with a sufficient amount in the wallet but i can not see EU players on the search online for anything at all.

I do not remember this happening with the PS3 version. I am logging in with my usual EU account but only get NA players on every search.

Quick question, I have AE on PC, is the Ultra upgrade worth it in terms of balance?

Kind of pissed was denied a refund so ill have to keep this everything lags p.o.s.This is one of the worst releases on the ps4 by far and the arrogance of capcom to let some bottom of the barrel company do this port is beyond belief.

You should provably remove the PS3 TE from your tests since the PCB on that it has ~0.5F delay compared to other input devices you used on PS3. If you used the lowest lag PCB on PS3 you could reduce your input delay by another 0.5F or so as well.

After accounting for the above, your numbers are very close to FourWude’s over at DisplayLag. Also, his numbers seem to include the total time for the LCD refresh in full, which shows slower results across all platforms (but doesn’t necessarily mean he is incorrect).

Sent this into the devs? Or can we get this highlighted somewhere like front page? Very insightful.

Also just wanted to give props to gilley for his tests, nice, consistent work on those, and great video explanation too.

One thing I wanted to mention about them is that you’re measuring from when the frame just begins to appear, instead of when it is fully drawn. From my previous tests on a standard 10 ms monitor (https://pbs.twimg.com/tweet_video/B-L3GXgCMAAuR1T.mp4) it takes ~1.4F or ~23 ms for a monitor to fully draw a frame. So if you’re counting from the earliest point as you were in your video, your numbers are going to be quite low compared to someone who is counting from when most or all of the frame is drawn (Four Wude, myself above). Both methods are fine as long as you’re doing your method consistently and are aware of which method another person may be using.

Yeah, I wanted to leave refresh time and screen input lag out of the equation, only console input lag. Another thing I did was wait till the button was fully depressed to start counting. People have said that the Sanwa buttons have a short dead zone to them, and they sort of do have this. But if you take a joystick and slowly depress the button, you’ll see that it doesn’t always activate at this 1/2 way point. This tiny distance isn’t picked up by my camera recording at 120 fps. You would need a much higher frame rate camera to see the button being pushed longer. There were basically 3 key frames I could see…

1st my finger is hovering just slightly above the button
2nd my finger is pushing the button down about 1/2 way
3rd my finger has pushed the button in all the way

If there’s a margin of error on my tests, it would be about 1/2 a frame if you start counting on the "2nd’ frame, which I didn’t do because of the reason I explained. The best way to do this test is to wire up LED’s to all the controllers. I really didn’t want to do this because it would have taken me forever to do.

Playing on a qanba q4raf feels extra laggy, anyone else feel this? Do I really just have to get a ps4 stick

That’s just the port. Don’t worry, you won’t need a new stick. Although I would advise getting a PS4 stick sooner rather than later anyway taking into consideration possible future events may be converting to the PS4 if the port ever gets fixed.

I have seen reports of extra lag for mkx as well which I can def feel. Sigh, wish these companies would implement the driver a bit better, almost positive the DS4 having to be on is causing it.

Is that so? I guess it’s highly probable then…a peripheral upgrade is a necessary evil I suppose then. I’ve never really had issues with needing to buy new gear for new consoles, but some people can’t afford that kinda stuff outta nowhere and I can see where their gripe comes from. Sucks they’re so expensive.

For me is not even that the sticks are too expensive, but more that they are like non existent. Everything permanently sold out. That this is even an Issue in 2015 :frowning:

and you can preorder a madcatz version from amazon @ $200

Problem is, i am from Germany, here in Amazon it is still out of stock since more then one month :frowning:

Thanks for the hint, i will take a look

I thought it was people just being people griping about something not being perfect… but holy heck does this thing lag even offline. I am a ps3 player (please dont judge) and this is horrendous. Not a single match was playable even offline in training mode everything felt sluggish. I wonder how many people that are more casual then i am have been turned away from wanting to buy SF5 now after this experience?
