I was at a tournament last night, and on two separate consoles ultra would make a very annoying tv static kind of sound and the game would slow down to the point where the animation for jab would be EXTREMELY slow.
this was on the disk version. I dont know what model the 360s were, but they were the black ones. I had my eightarc fusion plugged in, but it only happened on these two consoles throughout the entire night and its never happened at home(I have an older 360).
I’m skeptical that its a hardware issue because it was two different consoles, could it have been my eightarc? Could it be a rare glitch in ultra? What do you guys think, has it ever happened to you?
If it’s never happened at your home then it’s probably a hardware defect. When you say black 360s I’m guessing old Elite models and those were still prone to overheating (just not nearly as much as the initial batches.) I’ve never seen the new-ish black 360s overheat but it’s not impossible. It could also be the TV itself going out or overheating.
I’ve never had this particular bug with SFIV, but I have had dying LCDs that made games appear extremely slow.
This type of problem did happened at Level Up stream on PC at one point. Also happened to someone I read from a comment somewhere that linked a video on Eventscrubs.
My friend’s 360 had this issue as well during casuals, and I remembered that the audio was 2-3x louder than the usual game audio (our ears were hurting). We didn’t notice lag until we exited the game (which the loud audio static noised stopped), and went to Training Mode. As soon as the VS screen was over after picking the characters, that irritating noise came back, and this time we noticed lag.
I would assume this is a game bug since this happened for other people, and didn’t hear anything later involving system issues. If it were a 360 defect, why did it happen on PC at one point over at the Level Up weekly stream? Plus, by the time the defect would happen, it could constantly occur or propose even bigger issues to the console sooner or later. It didn’t did anything severe when I was over playing casuals a while ago. We just went to the dashboard and play USFIV again, didn’t happen again the whole night (haven’t heard word either if it still does it on that system).
It might be important to keep record when does this happen. In my case over at casuals, it happened on the East Asia: Run-Down Back Alley while it was a Rolento VS Dictator match.
The Level Up stream stage, I think it was also East Asia: Run-Down Back Alley as well but forgot the characters.
I’ll try and get in contact with the friend I played last time that caused the freeze to see if he was using a eigharc (pretty sure I saw this stick while I was there).
This also happened at Canada Cup and they had to restart the game. I’ve personally never had the issue on PC or 360 though, but I have heard of it happening on both before.
Most likely. Again, the fact that it happens on PC as well indicates that this is on Capcom to fix this problem, and that it’s not a compatibility issue from console to console.
I’m just going to wait until this happens on grand finals at an important event. Can’t wait for people to cover their ears when this happens
It also occurred at the recent tourney in France over the weekend, I think it was Gagapa vs Ryan Hart, it kept happening until they restarted the console.
