Yeah it works now!!! I swear I tried this before, but maybe w the recent patches they loosened things up.
So to get a mostly clean-ish moveswap (meaning good looking face most of the time and swapped voice), take the skin (donor) files you want, then copy them to the recipients’ patch folder. In addition to the core costume files, copy the xxx.fce.ema to eliminate most of the monkeyface, and the voice files, xxx_E.csb and/or xxx_J.csb so that is swapped as well.
So the full list for putting chun li skin on to dudley’s character would be to take
CNL.fce.ema
CNL_E.csb and or CNL_J.csb (_E file for English voice and _J for Japanese)
CNL_01.bsr
CNL_01.nml.emb
CNL_01.obj.emo
CNL_01.shd.emo
CNL_01_01.col.emb
CNL_01_01.obj.emm
and optionaly continue with all the other col and obj files to fill out the rest of the colors.
put them into
/patch/battle/chara/DDL. (you may have to create a new folder for your character, it’s ok)
then just rename all the CNL to DDL. Then go to pick Dudley in-game and voila! looks like chun on your machine.
Remember for the new Ultra characters the patch path is /patch_ae2/battle/chara/
To swap the second constume or dlc stuff, obviously you’d copy the CNL_02* or _03* or _04* files instead.
Obviously this works splendidly with all the mod costumes out there.
I say ‘clean-ish’ bc there are some instances on some characters where monkeyface rears its head. Ryu’s ultras, Posion’s resting stance are two I’ve come across. But just copying the .fce.ema file give you cleanface 80% of the time depending on the character. there is a tool out there called sloth’s monkey face fix, I tried it and it’s pretty cumbersome, and most of all it gave me an error and couldn’t do the job at all in Ultra. copying the file over is just quick, cheap, easy, and very efficient.
It appears using these online leads to disconnects around the end of the first round. sadness.
