USF4 Moveswapping

So i attempted to move swap Poison and Juri using the AE tutorial, and what I have seen is something out of the depths of hell.

(Sorry the link is on twitch for now)

Does anyone know what the new way of moveswapping is? I assume it has something to do with the patch_tu1 folder.

So yeah

“You look like you’re in good shape.”

Lost it.

Does the alternate way, just changing the skin, work? I’ll test this out eventually but it may not be for 24 hours or so. all you really have to do is:

“Now, open the donor’s cos and col files in a hex editor, scroll all the way down to the bottoms of the files and change the 3-letter character name references to match the receivers’. In my case, I changed the CNL instances to SGT (there will be 4 instances to change in the cos file and 2 in the col file). Then, rename the files to match (e.g., CNL_01.cos.emz to SGT_01.cos.emz and CNL_01_01.col.emz to SGT_01_01.col.emz)”,

obviously with ultra the .emz bundles are gone but the principle is still the same. Just that paragraph will result in monkeyface, but at least gets most of the swap job done. I never had AE so I dunno if this ever worked for AE

Juri is just having a moment.

My problem is I don’t know what regulation folder I’m supposed to be using for the update. I went back and looked again and there like 3 seperate regulation folders with JRI and PSN folders in them. I switched one that in the dlc folder around and nothing. Then I tried the one in the concept folder, again nothing. Finally tried the one under patch_tu1 and the game goes into infinite loading when those are swapped. Looking at in game its like all inputs and hitboxes are the same its just the animations are all screwed up. I’m guessing this is related to the new balancing movelist but I have no idea what folders to switch, as I’ve tried most of them.

copied from the modding thread:

if you’re looking for the source files, for most characters it’s
resource\battle\chara
for the ultra ones like poison her source is
\dlc\04_ae2\battle\chara

I tried to do a quick paste of some vanilla moveswapped skins i had into the ultra patch folder and it crashed instantly. But i’m hoping it’s some unknown vanilla incompatibility… later tonight (way later) i’ll try to do it from scratch

The source files are not my issue its the regulation folders within the dlc folder. theres 3 seperate folders with the same layout as the one in the tutorial, with the 3rd being under patch_tu1. As I said I have no idea what regulation files I supposed to swap as I’ve tried the way the tutorial describes plus different combinations and its the same result.

I think I may have found your answer here: "Coolboy2011 said…
@Hunter K

Thank you very much for your reply.

I’m very lazy, so I give up editing the hex text files.

However, another method just came to my mind, I tried, and succeeded.

While, I just copied “.bst” , “.nml.emb”, and other costume files (.col.emb, .obj.emm) from the donor to the recipient, so controlling the recipient looks like controlling the donor character.

This method is easy enough for me, lol.

Sincerely."

I’m going to try this method when I get home, and I will let you know the results.

Confirmed. It works. If anybody cares anymore.

Yeah it works now!!! I swear I tried this before, but maybe w the recent patches they loosened things up.

So to get a mostly clean-ish moveswap (meaning good looking face most of the time and swapped voice), take the skin (donor) files you want, then copy them to the recipients’ patch folder. In addition to the core costume files, copy the xxx.fce.ema to eliminate most of the monkeyface, and the voice files, xxx_E.csb and/or xxx_J.csb so that is swapped as well.

So the full list for putting chun li skin on to dudley’s character would be to take
CNL.fce.ema
CNL_E.csb and or CNL_J.csb (_E file for English voice and _J for Japanese)
CNL_01.bsr
CNL_01.nml.emb
CNL_01.obj.emo
CNL_01.shd.emo
CNL_01_01.col.emb
CNL_01_01.obj.emm
and optionaly continue with all the other col and obj files to fill out the rest of the colors.

put them into

/patch/battle/chara/DDL. (you may have to create a new folder for your character, it’s ok)
then just rename all the CNL to DDL. Then go to pick Dudley in-game and voila! looks like chun on your machine.

Remember for the new Ultra characters the patch path is /patch_ae2/battle/chara/

To swap the second constume or dlc stuff, obviously you’d copy the CNL_02* or _03* or _04* files instead.

Obviously this works splendidly with all the mod costumes out there.

I say ‘clean-ish’ bc there are some instances on some characters where monkeyface rears its head. Ryu’s ultras, Posion’s resting stance are two I’ve come across. But just copying the .fce.ema file give you cleanface 80% of the time depending on the character. there is a tool out there called sloth’s monkey face fix, I tried it and it’s pretty cumbersome, and most of all it gave me an error and couldn’t do the job at all in Ultra. copying the file over is just quick, cheap, easy, and very efficient.

It appears using these online leads to disconnects around the end of the first round. sadness.

@renzen Thanks a lot this really worked for me, having still some little deformations on the shape but them are minimal and only on some skins.

I have just made some experiments with the moveswaps these days i just decided to swap Chun as Poison instead of Sakura, because seeing Poison’s kiss with the Chun’s super muscular legs makes it more aww! While with Sakura i tried her on various characters and her with the moves of DeeJay fits just perfect the shape of Sakura the DeeJay’s moves makes her even more cute than the original and is even more fun. There are not important deformations on the shape anyway apart for the face sometimes, same with Chun while the Chun’s legs swapped as Poison looks even more muscular and i like this XD just so bad for the face it appears very deformed in some scenes, is there a way to also make the face appearing normal for all the game scene?
