USF4 Akuma match up thread

Also what are you guys doing to deal with evil ryu when he does delayed wake up? I get DP’d everytime. This match seems extremely difficult because not only do you have to play perfect on the ground but whenever you do get a knock down there’s a good chance they’re getting back up scotch free.

Evil Ryu’s design offends me more than Yun’s. Yun at least has flaws that can be manipulated and exploited. This character literally has no flaws in this version outside of low health which doesn’t count. Horrific design.

You can no longer apply a reliable gameplan around hard knockdowns due to DWU, so you need to keep things dynamic and try to apply some hard reads if you can see some opponent tendencies emerging.

If you are being DPd ‘every time’ you can consider that valuable knowledge and work it into baiting out a response. Manually time some empty jumps or delayed cross tatsus. Walk up and block and delay tech when he wakes up, or perhaps palm whiff into tele backwards and buffer a U2. Or, if you’re simply being pasted every time you try to molest his wakeup, just back away and deny him that area where he’s clearly sapping away your health. Eating an HP DP from his wake-up is going to cost you 160 health (or more if you get counter-hit whilst pressing a button) so simply deny him that option.

You might also want to consider applying offensive crouch techs on his wakeup and see what kind of mileage you can get from it:

Keep in mind that E.Ryu is just a shoto (obviously with his own flavour of strengths) and should be engaged accordingly. I’m of the view Akuma VS E.Ryu is 5-5. What he has over us in power we have over him in mobility and positioning. Also, given Akuma’s new changes and E.Ryu’s reduction in health, our raw damage output isn’t exactly pitiful in comparison either.

Decapre’s ex scramble sweep is an easy ultra 1 if lands deep. I couldn’t any frame data on it so I have no clue how negative it is but it was crazy easy and she hadn’t even started a recovery animation when the demon came out so I’m guessing it’s very unsafe. Since it breaks armor it can be baited with focus attacks.

What are some good tips for dealing with guys run stop pressure?

Was looking for some setups on Elena and had pretty good success with these:

-Sweep, immediate command dive kick
(Stuffs all reversal dp’s except ex but if you hold db you can block it. Hold uf right after sweep to jump asap or you’ll get hit by the ex version. Safe vs dwu, you’ll block it)

-Throw, dash, ex DFK
(Stuff, trades or whiffs normal versions depending on timing of kick, loses to ex version. If you do the kick at peak ex will win but if you do it very late it whiffs.)

-Throw, dash x 2, command dive
(Stuffs all normal versions but loses to ex, will sometimes trade with lk version)

-Forward throw, dash, mk DF xx ex air fireballs
(Beats everything, trades if you do fireballs too late)

anyone got any tech vs evil ryu?

I play evil Ryu same like Ryu but be aware of a stronger mixup.

Especially his hop kick that goes over your crouching light and medium kick.

Also take care about to anti air with mp. dp. his dive kick can mess up your timing and stuffs crouching HP.

If you should have ever doubts which way to block or don’t want to deal with the mixup just teleport out of pressure. U2 is preferred to make your teleport more safe.

Important to know is also that not all axe kicks are a true block string. If you choose to block axe kicks, do it standing to avoid to get over headed.

Try to play a footsie orientated game, take advantage of the usf4 buffs and try not to get cr. medium kicked since this leads to death. you can avoid this cr. mk with St. lk. and whiff punish with sweep.

Hi. I’m making a match-up post in a few character forums because I’m looking to run some sets. I’m a US, East Coast ER player. I don’t play ranked but I usually give or take in sets with players 3.3kpp to 4kpp for what it’s worth.

Akuma gives me a bit of trouble when i run into a good one, so please add Dragon Metsu on 360 or DragonMetsu on ps4 (I say ps4 because I do not own a ps3 copy of the game). Feedback after the sets (win or lose) is appreciated.

hey guys I’m starting to do a character study for akumas mu’s and figured i would start with the new characters. anyone have anything on her? I’m particularly looking for stuff like offensive options on her wake up( low risk options-high risk options/what rewards). our defensive options when we are knocked down. normals/patterns and spacings to watch for during neutral and then a general thoughts on how the match up goes/who wins it by what margin.

I’ve got a few things like after cr.mk>fadc bnb hk df early dive makes her reversals whiff and is generally a low risk option etc etc. but having recently switched to akuma(after master series) my knowledge is minimal at best with this character.
