Doing it on reaction is unrealistic. Doing the feint as part of the setup would be a guess to your opponent doing DWU. I see most players, even top players, use DWU every time. The mechanic is so new that there isn’t a lot of anti-DWU stuff out there.
Just two quick questions regarding the punish video:
First, does someone here actually try to punish -4 moves ? Especially with HJC Ultra ? It seems risky as hell since it’s quite hard to pull off consistently.
Second, I noticed that at 00:04 there’s two LP inputs. Is it a double tap or P-link with Select maybe ? Is there a way to Plink a Jab on Xbox ?
Yes, see the Cody comment in the matchup thread. Also useful to learn the timing for TAP lvl 2 for Boxer and HK Soul Spiral for Rose, among others. You are correct though, it is risky.
Most of the LP inputs are just double tapped. But for the Fei Long part, I rewired a fightstick to b-link. You can plink jab with back on 360.
Shout outs to Floor for teaching us Viper, I feel like I owe you a Frosty or a cheese burger or some shit. Lemme know if you want a free beer a EVO, I win MM’s now all because of TUT(and training/lab time)
Great conclusion ! I don’t want to play captain obvious here but being patient with Viper is way more effective than I thought when I started. My level can change drastically depending on my mindset and sometimes I have to force myself to turn off the console because I’m aware I won’t be able to produce anything good. Or I just go back in training room.
I did a FT10 against a japanese Zangief today. I won, but the guy literally put me out of my mind. He was playing really random and I was extremely mad at myself for falling for such crappy gimmicks. It doesn’t happen often but I was just unable to play at my regular level after that. Too impatient, too nervous and got pwned by a bunch of shoryu-happy 2k Ryu’s that I usually blast. I really admire pro-players that are able to keep their cool cause I’d probably throw my stick on the ground if I had to face Pepeday or Nemo in a FT10.
Anyway, people online have a hard time applying safe pressure and they usually end up doing something risky. I feel that defending against pressure is also the part of the game when you learn the most about your opponent: Applying pressure relies heavily on automatisms, and even Latif can been seen doing EXACTLY the same thing in many matches.
