USB issue, could use some guidance

The problem is pretty common and i’m not too worked up over it, but basically the USB cable itself has a shortage in it near the base of the cable where it goes into the stick. Its the usual story, you hold the cable one way the lights come on and stay on as long as its in this position. let the cable go, the lights go off and the stick becomes unresponsive. The stick is an Eight Arc.

How do I go about fixing this?

How? And is that absolutely necessary?

Luckily I have a USB cable ready, but I need to know if the sticks themselves require a specific cable or if any ol’ USB cable will do?

Any cable with the USB A connector on one end will do, but be careful to wire it correctly. Take a picture of how the stock one is wired for your own reference and mimic that.

Ideally you would have a multimeter and test the new cable for continuity in order to make sure the colors of the wires match up properly to the contacts on the USB connector.
