You’re just as naive as that dumb kid. Again, let’s throw your ass in NK for a month and see how long you last before you violate some long-held custom or regulation, and get the law pissed at you. Unless you seriously do your homework beforehand, you’re going to fuck SOMETHING up. Whether you’re doing it intentionally or not.
Read this except from Eric Bishoff’s book on some of the crazy shit that goes on there:
Evidently stuff like common phones being wire-tapped, and merely speaking badly about North Korea can get your ass kicked.
This shit isn’t common knowledge? Every six months to a year there’s another American or Canadian getting locked up in North Korea for arbitrary “incidents.” How the hell does anyone think that doing something that is against the law in oh…every single country is not going to get punished harder with the quickness in a country that locks up foreigners for things that aren’t even against the law in normal countries just based on whatever mood border agents are in that day?
I actually know because I spent years talking with North Korean defectors. But oh yeah, I’m a know it all.
As for me going to North Korea? Hah, yeah, ok. You first since you seem to think that it’s okay, just don’t “mistakes,” right? I don’t go there because even if I know not to act like a retard in the country, there are far too many instances of arbitrary detentions that I’m not going to press my luck.
So yeah, what’s next? You want to respond and swallow your foot?
^^ Yup. That’s you. Talking out of your ass and gloating over that dumb kid’s misfortune. As if you’re somehow up-to-speed on everything in North Korea.
Again, pull your head out of your ass, and read that piece i linked too from Eric bischoff’s book. You had grown-ass men, pro-wrestlers, about to get their asses kicked and thrown in Korean jail for stuff.
At what point did I gloat, you fucktard? I said, “Don’t act like misdemeanors in the west is going to be A-OK in a communist country.”
You’re the one acting like a retard and actually going, “OMAHGERD SOMEONE DIED IN PRISON FOR A CRIME THEY COMMITTED!”
You are the product of capitalist propaganda as much as the system of North Korea itself is the product of communist propaganda.
Whatever those “Still real to me dammit” folk experienced in North Korea? I know people that make those sound like campfire ghost stories from Boy Scouts. So yeah, tell me I’m talking out my ass some more. Then I’ll explain human anatomy and how where your foot is isn’t actually your ass.
For your fools defending this clown, ignorance is never an excuse its actually should be considered a crime. Like, I get Americans arent really good at geography but to know nothing of the most prolific rogue state on Earth and still think you can thieve a memento (his excuse) and get away with it is some incredible bullshit.
No he didnt need to pay with his life, but he did, cause thats how you pay for abject stupidity. The kid who crossed the rails and gets electrocuted, didnt deserve to go but rofl thats what happens when you wanna wrestle with ungodly amounts of voltage. Its the same thing, a sad fact he himself is the blame for.
The reality is the rest of the World does not give a shit about our American Rights, and even will hold your American Citizenship against you.
You commit a crime in a foreign land, and see that you are a American. They WILL seek to make an example out.
Even Western European countries will not hesitate to use the full brunt of the law against you.
Countries like Turkey or Japan will treat you like shit while you are in their Prisons.
A Country like North Korea, there no such thing as rights. The only “right” you have is to play their little political game and follow the script as you are told to.
The Geneva convention only applies to Uniform wearing members of your respective country’s armed forces, not to spys, terrorist or even tourist.
Yeah get caught for something stupid in a foreign country, you will be labeled as ether a spy or terrorist on the spot and you have less rights then the lowest cast in that country.
The blind old beggar who starving to death on the streets will have more rights than you once you get caught, and you can get caught for completely arbitrary means.
If they decide on a summary execution (you are automatically found guilty and executed without trial), that might be the kindest fate that could await you.
I wonder if the same people here who say he had it coming say the same thing of blacks and hispanics for dressing, talking, walking, and behaving a certain way and they chest up to the authorities.
Did you purposefully just skip over the part where he says just don’t go to said country? Because even as a teenager I definitely knew there were some places I just didn’t go to if I valued my life. This dude thought it would be funny and got buttfucked over it.
He shouldn’t have died, no, but that’s the risk he took when he decided flying to North Korea was a good idea.
Real talk: Spent a week in Costa Rica a few weeks ago and on the way back, I was ‘randomly’ selected by 2 police officer for a drug check. I complied without hesitation and I’'m amaze how white I sounded responding to their random questions. I was let go after 10 minute or so. Shieet I was ready to strip butt naked right there to prove I ain’t no drug mule. I’ve seen enough ‘Prison Abroad’ show to NoT fucked around when stopped etc.
I imagine AlphaCharlie over here instantly claiming racial profiling/discrimination etc and will probably get detained not for having drugs, but for causing unnecessary public disorder or some shit
Perhaps this wasn’t the case I will admit I don’t know with certainty but a lot of us who posted here saying it was a dumbass move to go to NK in the first place definitely thought of all the -mostly white- kids in highschool/freshman college that do dumb shit and expect daddy to talk to the principal/dean and problem solved.
I hope the message gets through that that scenario does not happen in real life. As tragic as the example was.
(yeah ok if you are in the US and have shit ton of money you can get away with first degree murder with a 1 million bail and 2 weeks of home arrest)
