The timing is tighter than hell. So much so that it’s almost not worth trying, as you can just st. Fierce after the tackle for damage, or st. strong to reset. I don’t bother unless I’m feeling really confident in the match, and that’s never against Dudley or Alex:)
its a waste of aegis… and after the second aegis you dont have to dash, dash… you will already in the unblockable position, just jab low, whatever or f+mk…
cr.fp, mk tackle, xx fp aegis, rh tackle dash headbut, dash, dash, f mk… would be the profersetup. but it depends on the characters.
with makoto, whenever i feel unconfident about the lp.tackle -> lp.sphere -> lp.tackle I do the two mk.tackles instead. The damage difference isnt tremendous but its safer to pull off for me
Is there something easier to do on Hugo? I usually get a whiff lk, and I practice that shit.
Right now I’m not so concerned about doing max damage, I just want the opportunity to get free damage w/ unblockables while I practice the harder stuff in training mode.
I recommend learning the dash kneedrop setup because you can also use it on Dudley and the twins, and its not as hard as it looks. This is how to do it: charge down a split second before the super ends, then up, down (kind of a reverse superjump motion), dash, down,up + hk. The key is to charge during the end of the Aegis. For the rest of the setup youre charging down almost the entire time so there is almost no skill/sense of timing required.
The second setup is something I just discovered recently by accident. I am not sure if its a range issue or a timing one, but if you dash back then take a step back and do lk tackle, the last hit from the Aegis reflector will cause Hugo to bounce vertically, allowing you to pass under him.
I was able to do an even better setup once, where after the tackle I dashed up and did jumping fierce for a reset and then dashed under Hugo. But, this one is really hard for me to reproduce. The jumping fierce is no problem, but I always end up dashing into Hugo rather than under him. I didnt really try for that long because Ive been busy experimenting with some cool corner Aegis setups. So, you might want to take a crack at it for yourself.
Yeah I am fine on jump>dash partition kneedrop. It just looked weird in training mode cause I would kneedrop on what looked like the front of his body. That’s why I was figuring that might not work, thanks for basically confirming that it does.
Thanks a lot for that. I might try that other setup sometime as well, but for now I am probably going to just use the basic.
No problem, I just wanted to see if I could create a vid using my tv tuner.
I’m thrilled it worked out. Anyway, if you do the dash knee UB on Hugo too quickly, you’ll land on the other side after the knee hits, so you can be assured it crosses up.
You know, I’m lookin at the list, and it seems like the consecutive RH kneedrops can be done to almost everyone. I thought it was only for certain characters.
Do you guys prefer after the LP Aegis to do the consecutive RH kneedrops or the whiff RH tackle, then RH kneedrop?
Probably already mentionned but here is an Easy unblockable against cornered Necro and probably other characters:
Cr. HP, LK or MK Tackle xx lp Aegis, dash back then do HP Sphere, HP Sphere and then HK Dash to go behing Aegis while Necro is falling down. It’s very easy.
Necros usually attack a lot so don’t try to corner them, let them come and try to get a parry (red parry on qcf+lp second hit) and then throw them in the corner.
Does those unblockables, like versus chun corner UB also work on newtype? btw what type to people play most on, and in SBO? Im asking this because I saw a SBO Quals westcoast matchvids, team Keystone vs. team Family, and LetBloodRun did the corner unblockable against Kais Chun, but he just blocked it(if anyone knows which vid im talking about its 4:17).
corner unblockables are blockableon version B of course but they can still be troublesome is timed right because the defending player has to switch guarding side two times with precise timing. I think it’s still worth attemping them on version B
ok…thanks for this thread being up first of all. The problem I’m having so far seems kinda stupid. I can’t get the c.hp to hit after the unblockable. I’ll hit them with the kneedrop or what ever and when I c.hp, it gets blocked. Suggestions please as to why this is happening. Thanks in advance
Sounds like the result of doing the kneedrop too late. The guard still breaks but the aegis doesn’t last long enough for the c.HP. Do it meatier, but not too deep or you’ll end up in the corner after the rebound.
