So, I went to NEC which was my first tournament ever. It was extremely fun but in GG, I got owned. Hard. I don’t know what happened. It’s like all my training for years went out the window.
I play Zappa so I knew it would be a major uphill battle but man, it was crazy how fast I got beat. Then I did casuals with FaultyDefense’s Venom. I tried to get tips but he could only help me out so much because nobody plays Zappa.
I don’t have anyone to play GG with at home. How do I train for my next GG tournament with no high level players to go against? I plan to go to one of the TeamSt1ckbug tourneys in NYC sometime but I still need help.
All you can do is watch youtube vids of high level zappa players playing against match ups you don’t really know yourself. Take mental notes of how he counters certain normals and specials, what he can abuse/not use. GG has an amazing training mode. That’s where I learned what to do against most of the characters I fought against. I recorded the other character to do all the blockstrings and all the little tricks that I had seen, and learned how to instant block them so I could backdash or counter them in some way. I played reload hardcore and was a Sol player, so I have no knowledge on zappa in ggac. Sorry I couldnt help you directly with your character, but hope my tips help you a bit! Good luck:woot:
Practice will only get you so far. You have to find a way to get that human interaction. Keith makes a good point. YouTube videos are an invaluable tool that us old-skool players didn’t have a few years ago. Watch videos and practice the things you see there and not just combos. Watch for reactions, pressure strings and set-ups. Nothing will replace a solid human opponet who knows the game and the more people you play against the more you will grow with the game.
Your post reminds me alot of myself back in 1999 when a few of us went to our first major tournament (ECC4) in New Jersey. I honestly had no idea what true high level play was until then. You have the ambition, good luck on finding the competition.
I wonder if enough planning went into this to make it compatible with LIVE Arcade version of UMK3? Yes, I too am excited about this package deal. Put me down for one (maybe two!).
I am going to be torn between MK9 and MvC3. I didn’t start getting serious about fighting games until the versus series, but I grew up on MK3. So much love for both. Definitely not complaining though! 2011 is going to be a great year.
No sir we have not. I haven’t touched it in ages, but I played the hell out of it at the arcade in carowinds when I lived in North Carolina as a kid. Then when it came out on ps1 I played it all the time! I skipped over street fighter and started off on killer instinct and MK3. Didn’t really touch a street fighter until alpha series and I was horrible haha. Man they really need to announce a new killer instinct with all these new fighters coming out.:arazz:
I forgot about that arcade at Carowinds! I use to go up there and mash on people in Tekken Tag!!! That was like '98!!! I was a beast man, I would travel ANYWHERE to play that game.
Competition is everywhere now and not as centralized as it use to be, it’s kind of the gift and the curse of online gaming. I love the community I live in now. I miss the old days though…
I know what you mean. When MK2 came out in arcades, I would drive to Athens on Friday to play at the Tate center at UGA then Saturday I would go to Anderson and play at the Mall. Weekdays I was in McDonalds in Hartwell (yes, they had a MK2 and a few local players) and to Royston to a little mom and pop Video rental place that had an even larger following. Yep, miss the good ol days…
We used to drive to Seneca to play MK3, a gas station in North Georgia to play Ehrgeiz, and there was a time that I drove every Friday night to Greenville to play UMK3 at the Greenville Mall Pocket Change, McAllister Square Tilt, Mountasia, and Haywood Mall Aladdin’s Castle in rotation just to try and find good comp.
Side note: I met a hot girl one night at Tilt that played UMK3, and ended up running into her again at Pocket Change later that same night. She commented that she thought I was following her. Her boyfriend was not amused.
ted and bob i bet i played you alot back then even though i stuck to the spartanburg arcades mostly. I do miss tilt, that was my favorite arcade. so many old school classics, get tired of mk2 go play skate or die. Get tired of that play strider. god that arcade was bad ass.
Gastonia arcade was dope too, it is all just our memories that where so great. I went to the arcade in the flea market in arden NC the other day, they had a mario, kof2002, kof98, mvc2, afterburner, DK3 and many others but after just a few minutes i was bored. I feel sorry for anyone under the age of 30 because they never experienced true arcades(1992-2000)
side note: i worked at the jolly time arcade in spartanburg for about a year and got fired(not for playing games on the clock, which i did and not for refusing to give change to a mother because i was in a heated match of MK2 which i also did, or from being the only person to play time killers in a week and using refund quarters that where colored to mark them as mine to play in the machine) no i got fired for one day talking this girl jennifer(who also worked there) into going back into the backroom and having sex in the bathroom. Everything would have been ok but when we got done i went right back to playing MK2, which made her feel a little used(go figure) next day i find out she quit and ratted me out. Oh well at least i have a good story from it.
hey guys! to any of you who know what im talking about. Alright im new to this haha so bare with me. Anyways im making a stick for the ps2 and im using a ps1 pad to make it with.
Alright my question is where it is circled with the red for the grounds? is that where you ground it? and what exactly do you need to do to prepare the board to solder on it? like do you need to scrap that black stuff of to make good contacts? HELP! PLEASE!
