So yesterday I upgraded from Vista to Windows 7, and now everything works fine except the audio.
I’m using a laptop which used the IDT Audio codec. Whenever i set windows media player to have IDT as the main audio device, it gives an error (there’s no code, just that it can’t use it nor play any files with it as the defualt device).
Note that even after updating to the latest version I still can’t get any audio, and this goes for ALL of the applications i have (i use Media Player Classic for video, and while it gives no error, no sound comes out when i play any file).
Looking at my updates list, there seem to be some new ones now, but if there’s a way to get around this better, please provide it.
You might have to download Audio drivers. Windows update is good about finding most drivers but it will not finding everything. There is some obsure drivers tghat secape Microsoft’s graps.
Do a google search for you Audio device, You OS, in your case Win 7 and if you run the 64 bit or 32 bit version of your OS. You ether find your drivers, find how to fix your audio or find why it will not work.
Did that a while ago and I found this (I use an HP Pavillion dv6)-
Download HP Pavilion dv6z-2100 Notebook IDT HD Audio Driver 6.10.6276.0 B Driver for Windows 7 / Windows 7 x64 - Softpedia
Thing is I dunno if I should get it as it’s description doesn’t seem to be the solution to my problem >_>;
Will keep searching tho.
Try your Laptop manufacture’s website first. If you can’t get the drivers from there at least confirm what audio device you are running.
Try to change up your keywords for you searches as you get different results
Go to Device Manager and see if your audio device has a problem. Then again, it most likely just is a driver problem.
