Ive got 4th at a recent tournament, I think i didn’t do so well but I also think I know where I messed up: I should have snapped Doom every single time with any char. Other than I need to work on my amaterasu, what else should I improve?

Just 2 things:
- When they’re locked by cold star you only go for 1 mixup (air dash H or teleport down, cr.L), which is good but you’re doing them too slow thus giving the opponent time to think. If you jumped up then straight away came down it can cause a flinch reaction to open them up. Also, when they’re pinned in that situation by cold star, mix in some fuzzy guard set ups like instant overhead j.L xx L Hienkyaku or other variations of the same thing, cold star will catch them the moment they screw up and that’s a free ToD for you. Mixup your options basically.
- When you did L Lightning mixup on entry, you weren’t ready for the opponent to block & pushblock it. You were only looking for them to either get hit, or block and fall down for another 50/50. Be ready to anticipate the pushblock and punish that too with a jump up M Hienkyaku xx Buster mixup or guard break or whatever other 50/50 you can throw in there else it’ll result in you getting clipped by an overhead when you were expecting them to be on the ground.
Apart from that, generally solid play. Keep your movement unpredictable and sometimes erratic. Should’ve won that set IMO ;_;

A few things that i saw that you were not using. (this is with doom of course. team super. you were blowing most your meter on lvl 3’s when you still had at least one more rep of the combo. when you have them pinned down with a assist like ammy you could also use the left right low in the corner. with zero if you see your oppenent stuck in a standing fuzzy guard jump m command dash down light is probably one of his fastest mixup’s. (along with jump light qcf l light m. ) you could also maybe use sougenmu for added pressure along side with ammy assist.

I got 3rd under IGT unknown and DRS fourthstar, match with fourthstar was close but I can do better

I do buster lightning too much but I generally keep myself safe, unknown and huoshen are some of the best at punishing that stuff due to poy but I don’t seem to pay for it… I am now working on doing more poy-style up-down mixups after dante assist. I actually drop loops a lot in this tournament but that’s mainly because I need to get a ps3 to practice on or at least get my stick dual-modded so I don’t have to borrow a bunch of funky sticks.

Whats up Zero forums. I’ve been MIA from these boards for a while because of school. Just graduated from university last week so I have much more free time now. A friend of mine started streaming casuals in Jacksonville, Florida and I just so happened to be there this weekend for a job fair. I stopped by afterwards for a couple hours before I had to go.
As of a few months ago, I started playing Zero second and I have come to enjoy it a lot more. The logic behind it was “well I always get blown up by the opening gambit and lose Zero instantly, might as well just start my second character instead.” Then it became “Force them to burn more resources to kill Wesker or Haggar and then safely DHC/COC into Zero.”
