UPDATED: POWNZ & Toshiba present: THE FINAL COUNTDOWN 08/01/09

jesus
a free TV as first place???
good stuff

Moshtiba lol

hmmm… has anyone looked at the pics for the TV? And if so, is there really a difference between the Native Mode on ans off, except that they just zoomed in?

Paul there are your pictures of the TV. Now if you’re wondering if they are gonna give you the same TV but with the screen cracked wide open I wouldn’t worry. POWNZ isn’t A&C. No scams allowed.

At the end of the day what’s the major concern? You all act like this TV is only good for playing games on it. Most of you run PS3s and the bluray power combined with that pimp machine should make your balls explode.

Drekken; after a couple of odd promotions in US tournaments, I thought it best to ask. Is there a criteria that has to be met for the TV to be given as a prize? Like do we have to have 50 players or sign a waiver saying Toshiba can have our first born? It’d just be a shame for such a fantastic promotion/giveaway to be tarnished because of some odd technicality.

big greek needs to show up. Then we need to go to Toni’s for the greek food.

Hey Nagata, Thats a good question, I will copy and paste your question to the gentlemen handling the Toshiba Profile (they are responsible for the majority of the brand promotions in Canada when it comes to gaming.)

As you know this is a first for Pownz and I don’t have all the answers but I do know where I Can get them. As far as I am concerned we will be giving the TV regardless of participation but from what I can tell the performance of the event will impact whether or not Pownz is chosen as a plausible venue for other events of this nature.

This type event is something I have been fighting for almost a year now and this is finally the break in the ice so as far as I know if it isn’t up their expectations they will simply give the TV away but identify it as a loss.

so youre syaing we need to promote the shit out of this for the sake of POWNZ prominance in the future? Wished I’d have known that. Can we go to the uni and put flyers up or something? Can anyone post a shiny little poster anywhere? Got to be some way to try and get more people invovled. Only there isnt much time now, so if anything happens, it needs to happen immediately.

I just got off the phone with Marketing Company and their response was there is no contract to sign, and as much as they would want your first born child the laws of canada won’t allow it :stuck_out_tongue:

But in all seriousness the goal of the event is to expose Toshiba Products to the gaming community and they will providing the TVs for the Grand Finals to be played on (the same TVs as the Prize) and the prize TV will be there for the winner to take home [So make sure you have some sort of method to take it home if you feel you are going to win] If you can’t take it home that day I do believe they can arrange shipping of the product.

The only 2 rules I warned about the winner has to be atleast the age of games rating [T for Teen] and to take home the prize they must be over the age of 18 or have parent and or guardian consent for the prize.

hopefully that answers the question

The short notice of the event was because of Toshiba’s decision on where to host this event (this event 1 of a 4 event series) and at the last minute chose pownz. They are also drawing up posters and what not for us to use but I am impatient and currently trying to make up my own. So if anyone out there has mad skills at Photoshop let me know and I can give you all the Toshiba Graphics that they want up @.@

id do it if my sodding photoshop trial hadnt just expired. Hmmmmmmm… actually… if you give me a couple of hours I can check if Jeannie has it on hers. Do you think it will be a long job though? As you know, with things as they are, time is a luxury I have little of right now.

DarkGigas or Ngu should rape this shit up.

edit: where and when are the other locations? I’m assuming they’ll play different games, but i’m just curious.

The next event is scheduled for Toronto but I do not know the location as of yet.

PRIZES

  1. Toshiba 42 Inch LCD TV
  2. 40% of collected Entry fees + Gunnar Optiks Gaming Glasses
  3. 20% of collected Entry fees + Free UBISOFT Game

40% + 20% = 60%

Am I missing something?

yea, the tv is over 1k msrp. that’s what you’re missing.

Kin is the best troll!

So pownz bought this TV with their own money?

Or was it donated, and they are taking 40% for pizza fees?

Or is Toshiba paying them for advertising, funding the tournament AND donating the prize, and 40% went into buying a bus to take players there?

I mean, they wouldn’t pocket the 40%, amirite?

Don’t be a jackass Kin. The TV is over a G. Whether it’s donated isn’t relevant this go around. Someone would have to win 6 - 8 tournies to cover the cost of that 1st place prize. I could care less if POWNZ took extra from the pot when the top prize is that big. You could sell that TV on the spot for 1/2 the price of retail and still come out 2 - 3 times more ahead than the cash value of a straight up tournament.

LOL i was gonna post the exact same point

Sure that’s fine. If that is what’s happening, I’d just like to know straight up.
