Hey guys, Glad to see a such a great response.
SETUP
- There are at least 3 Wall Mounted LCD TVs we can use for the tourney. We are not using the entire Venue, only half.
- I’m not sure the technical aspect of the TVs (ie Refresh rate .25-.5 frames), as well the proper way to set up the Systems (Cords should be long enough, sticks should reach, you just have to tilt ur head up a bit, pretty much like Orbit setup) but I will look into it probably Tuesday or Thursday.
- There is a projector which we can possibly hook up to their PS3, and use for all the main matches.
- There should be at least one-two “corner” areas where we can run HDR and SCIV on regular TVs without disrupting the main tourney as well as not disrupting normal service.
FEE
IF we are there from 12-8pm, or 1-10pm or whatever, we are basically expected to pull that much weight in terms of purchasing food/drink. IF each hour FIVE people spend $20, in we are there for 8-9 Hours, thats basically 40-50 People, and roughly 800-1000 in purchases. This is basically our Venue “Cap Fee”…
SO IF YOU COME TO THE TOURNAMENT AND YOU ARE PLANNING TO SPEND 20+ YOU WILL HAVE YOUR VENUE FEE WAIVED!!!

SPEND MORE THAN 20 AT THE VENUE AND YOUR VENUE FEE IS WAIVED!!
We will do this by You paying the $5 first, then show me your bill (yours and not you and your buddies) and I will refund for $5. This way, those who leave early, or only buy a drink, will not mess with the “numbers” expected by the Manager. This should also help increase numbers.
SIGN UPS - Since this isn’t our usual venue, and we don’t want to over stay the welcome, we’ll have the directors (Eric/JayWang/RXS/Nagatz/Russel) Arrive at about 12pm to make sure all venue stuff is taken care of. Then from 12-2PM we do signups and try to start both games AT THE LASTEST 3!! Time is Money people!! And I wont be there to try to enforce time constraints.

I will also now be needing a ride to help transport all my gear… This venue sounds awesome but is also significantly further away. I live right beside Ossington station, if anyone can pick me up (sauga crew, I’m looking at you lol) I don’t have any other commitments for the day so I could also leave whenever its convenient.

Perhaps you should change the thread title… ie, not @375 bleecker st.
For sure JED. Actually the projector will likely have no LAG, its the wall mounted LCDs (3-6 of em) that may be a factor. This is why I/we have to go there this week and check stuff out. This is also why I’m suggesting 1-2 people bring their regular TVs just incase.
In all honesty, these TVs look top of the line, its mostly the older LCDs that have more significant lag.
8ms refresh rate - 1/2 frame input lag; slightly noticable
4ms refresh rate - 1/4 frame lag; very hard to “Feel”
And if there is minor Lag, well your opponent is playing with the same Lag.
I will not be buying a free drink to ppl i beat in the tourney. But i will be treating myself to a drink after every win i get.
JayWang, since you are staying in scarborough, maybe you can come out for casuals with team STC after the tournament.
Dinoz; thanks for clarifying the venue vs bar bill situation. Dropping $20 at the venue in food/drinks while not having to pay a venue fee is more than reasonable.
Has it been established whether people under the age of 19 are allowed in the venue? Will they need a stamp or a wristband? Are they carding everyone at the bar?
By the way what an awesome fucking weekend, Canadian bar fights on saturday, FREE GZA CONCERT ON SUNDAY AT YONGE/DUNDAS SQUARE.

That was a concern. But they didn’t mention anything to Eric. So I believe it means you’ll be carded if you order drinks. This might also mean no Drinks in the actual Tourney Venue area if we have younger people there. But I dont think it will be a huge issue. Only a handful of players are under 19 right!?!?

Dinoz; do you happen to know if they have wireless Internet? If so I could bring my laptop and do updates on the fly for people who couldn’t make it. If anyone has a 3G stick they’re willing to loan (if they don’t want to bring a laptop) I’d use that as well.

If someone could confirm that’d be great. I’ll be happy to do updates for everyone and in many cases I could rip matches from my HDD Camcorder, encode and upload as the tourney is going on.
Yuo know you dont need to do that. Just sit back and enjoy the tourney with some chilli poppers and beers.

I don’t know how you guys are doing the brackets for SFIV but I suggest you do the same.
