**Updated 5/17** ONE thread about performing and application of the RSF/Punch Loop

Hey, crappy Fuerte player here. I just need to know if I’m going nuts, or if I’m just really thrown off by run/stop changes. I seem to be having a problem concerning all the new characters in AE when trying to do RSF. I went back to SSF characters and I could do it fine, but every time I hopped back to the AE characters, I would have difficulties. I can get two hits on Yun/Yang; Oni and E.Ryu don’t seem to take a second rep though. It seems like E.Ryu should at times but I just can’t seem to land it.

Am I failing miserably, or is there something else going on? Lemme know if the game is being weird or I just suck, thanks in advance SRK.

I haven’t noticed…I was able to land a 7 hit RSF on E.Ryu today.

I guess I will hit the lab and see if there is a change.

Spab mentioned the other day that for whatever reason, you can’t get more than three hits on them which is stupid.

Is that against the new characters, or all characters in AE? That is another thing I noticed, but I was pretty sure it was just me sucking. After that third hit it seemed very unlikely that I could link the 4th. I guess I just need some updated tips on RSF since I can’t seem to do it consistently anymore. A video showing the hands working AE RSF would be great. My confidence is shot.

I got the fourth one a few times, mind you that I’m far from the best at RSF. It’s probably a rhythm thing really. Just keep doing it, pass or fail, and it’ll come to you.

I just did 7 on Yun…and I lit an E.Ryu up the other day, I don’t know where you are getting your information Kuma.

Also, Rusty, the reason Yun is so hard to RSF is because he has a reeling animation not unlike those that shotos have. In my opinion, Yun is harder to RSF than any shoto.

Like I said, sPaB mentioned it. That’s my source, and since he’s wrong then I’m wrong.

Now I have more of a reason to use Yun as a training dummy.

Thought i would share a different view.

Elf Vs Abel

Settings - Auto Block
Corner - First rep no, Second rep yes.
9 hits - FA - SF - RSF - RSF - RSF - RSF - RSF - RSF - RSR.
SSFIV

I actually find RSF A LOT easier to do in AE.

sigh my next hurdle on the road to attaining RSF: Ryu’s weird reeling animation. I’ve missed several opportunities because of it.

Wut do? I’m right there. Just barely away from a 3-hit.

I actually got my RSF back on track, although Ono is still a bit weird. With the characters that have the dramatic reeling back animation, I think you just wait a fraction of a second longer before stop/fierce, doing it at the normal pace seems to make it whiff completely. Once you get that second hit you get back on the normal rsf rhythm. At least I think that’s what I’ve been doing. Stupid reeling animation…

^ I hit the lab against Yun/Yang… The most I was able to do that day against them was 8…Which means it is possible to do more than that.

In a real match though, I would suggest you put away your pride and only do the 4-5 standing fierces > Gordita sobat/Slide/st.strong/etc.

You can’t afford to make a mistake, so just run with the standard, minimalist approach. I found that while hitting a high number of Fierces in the RSF against the twins is really hard…landing the standard 4 or so punches > slide is actually just as easy as any other character.

Eight? That is impressive. I actually have never really done a full string of RSF in online play, I really don’t trust RSF when it comes down to possible latency issues. I get too tense/hyped(in a bad way) playing against random people for that kind of execution anyways, which is a huge problem with me in general. Doesn’t it become a little pointless to go past 4 reps anyways? More risk than its worth by that time?

Also Densuo, as I said above, relaxing can be a big issue, it was/is for me anyways. Just take a deep breath, calm down, and RSF RSF RSF. If you miss the beat and the dummy blocks, keep going till you do a f.hp. If that happens pretty early then your reps aren’t tight enough. Try not to condition yourself into only doing two links and then stopping if its blockked, otherwise that’s what you’ll end up with consistently. That’s how I learned it anyways.

that’s actually a good idea. I’ll try that during tommorow’s session. Thanks.

Rusty, it depends on the circumstances, spacing, and environment whether I go for more or less reps. You cut it short if you have to do so in certain situations of course, but if I feel like I won’t drop it, I keep going. I feel like if I am not doing 6-8, I am not performing the RSF correctly.

Here I thought the magic number was 5 considering damage scaling/risk of counter.

I finally landed a 3-hit rsf.

A few minutes later did another one.

Fuck yea.jpeg

the way i learned rsf was with a lot of practice in all modes of the (arcade mode, versus mode, Training mode, Trial mode)first just getting him to run after the cl. HP was a bitch online at first nothing would come out but then i learned to do 2 hits cl. HP RSF then i practiced doing Focus attack CL. HP RSF, after that i would CL. HP RSF, Quesadilla bomb after that i just went nuts with the rsf i stopped charging q-bomb cause it became a habit and just started doing the true trial mode 3 Hit RSF than people started saying that i didn’t use rsf and i been on a rsf rampage ever since than My advice would be throw rsf into you mixup heres a video of my 5 hit rsf

I can say I get two RSF reps consistently now. so now my best punish is RSFx 2 xx run stop crlP x2

I can do three finally, but now I just gotta get that consistent and try to get to 5+

I feel alot more confident when I do RSF now. I’m excited all over again.

EDIT: I regret not achieving this sooner.

Rsf ended with run xx piano’d backstep is good.

Found it interesting that Iori (one of the best online Fuertes) uses an unusual motion for the RSF - looks like a light SPD motion instead of QCF.

Does anyone else use this method?

interesting… I do it ‘normally’ I guess you can say. I wonder what’s his reasoning behind it.
