**Updated 5/17** ONE thread about performing and application of the RSF/Punch Loop

Please do. The only hands video out there now is for SF4 and doesn’t do the best job illustrating the loop. Something higher def would be spectacular. A video of a someone just doing the loop a bunch of times but only showing hands would be great.

I don’t know why this is unstickied though

Hola,

Nothing new, but I recorded a video seeing a difference using RFS x 6 + slide on SFIV vs SSFIV against a 950 stun char.

RFS x 6 + slide

SFIV:
Damage 454
Stun 950

SSFIV:
Damage 454
Stun 770

(stun nerfed as all we known)

I have decided to get back on the horse of rsf. But a pair of questions.

Does anyone here use something other then lp for canceling into run for rsf? If so why.

Second: upon finishing a drawing for it, I will be replacing my TE stick for an arcade in a box. The te uses a square gate. The new stick will utilize an octogonal gate. Has anyone who has made a similar change experienced any difference?

I hear the gate is a matter of preference. I’ve also seen one person do Fierce, QCF+Strong, Jab in loop. Makes sense, and I can imagine it being easier to find the rhythm for.

I’m still struggling with the canceling bit. I either do the buffer to early or too late. I think I need to just slow things down for a bit, but hey, two hits and a slide isn’t too bad. I have two weeks left to get this down.

You can just buy an octagonal gate for your TE (sanwa). I hate octagonal gates personally, square gates are there for a reason (dp motion!)~ Motions in this game are freakishly lenient so I’m not worried about needing smoother quarter circle motions.

I like to watch people do rsf and I’ve noticed a few people use mp for run. I think hp is a terrible idea because you’ll mess up and get fajita buster but if mp is easier for you then by all means, use it. I play with a 7th button as HK so I can charge quesadilla bomb with my pinky. I kinda fell out of the habit and didn’t do it much at evo for some reason though. Shame.

Fun fact: For me, I feel like the rhythm of the rsf is overall more awkward in super. I used to feel like (in vanilla) that the second fierce was the hardest part, it was important to get the timing of the second fierce in order to get the rest… Now that part seems easier. I feel like I have to hit jab~fierce faster in this game, while maybe the rhythm itself didn’t change too much? I need to play fuerte more.

@Densuo

I swapped the square gate in my TE stick for an octagonal gate. Whilst I had no problem performing quarter circles with the square gate, I just think that the octagonal gate is much more fluid and suits a wider variety of characters, especially if you’re looking to pick up command grab characters at some point. I prefer it, that’s for sure.

Never really understood why square gates were default in a stick designed for a game where every special motion is circular.

I need to try one of them octagonal gates some time I tend to grind the sides too much on my square and some times ultra’s don’t come out when I need em

I seem to just stop or go into fajita after 2nd hit… Help?

its all about rhythm you have to go at a steady pace. dont worry about tapping them out all fast. and always remember that your not double tapping would you like me make a hand video for you?

If you go into fajita then you’re either not waiting long enough to press jab to stop or you’re pressing jab and fierce punch at the same time. If you’re just stopping then I don’t know what’s up, you must just be mistiming stuff. Slow it down and make sure you’re doing it right, then speed it back up to get the combo down…use LP to start and stop the run, basically it will sound like there are 2 pauses.

sounds like:

HP
pause (input qcf)
LP
pause
LP~HP
pause (input qcf)
LP
pause
LP~HP
…and so on

The best way I can describe it is that the rhythm/timing between each LP seems to be the same but you will do an immediate HP (kind of like a kara) after every other one.

Please LSB.

Thanks, both of you. I’ll keep at it.

Oh hey. This vid again. Yeah perhaps it’s my hand positioning… I wonder if it’s good to practice fierce run slide first before going to rsf. But yeah. Practice practice practice.

I still need to get the QCF part down lol. I always do half circles or start from DB.

You could go for fierce into slide if you want to start using j. HP, st. HP xx run slide in matches. But if you would rather do HK xx EX Guac still, practice RSF. Do you play on pad or stick?

Also when you can do 4 with the TV off, I think you can do it well  I did it yesterday and turned the sidebar on the left on (I can’t remember actually what it’s called atm) and checked my combo after I turned it off and I got 4. I did this twice in a row (I pressed start after).

anyone who calls themselves an el fuerte main that hasn’t learned this yet is seriously slacking  all this talk about changing gates and using different buttons, lol
yeah it’s tough at first but you got to try to make really subtle changes in your presses while listening to the rhythm of videos. If you’re seriously trying, it shouldn’t take more than a couple hours…

Speaking of which, I made progress on using the DS3 for RSF. 3 hits consistently in training mode  I can come close to 3 in online matches, but I usually stop after 2 for mixups and overheads.

And you are right Sillender, I was slacking for a very long time, especially in vanilla; I told myself “I don’t need RSF”, but this late in the game where his shenanigans aren’t as scary anymore, I definitely do, I started seriously practicing it only a month ago :(. I appreciate your post and I fully support it if there’s anyone silly enough (like I was) to continue not caring about it!!!

I seem to be dropping the xx run on my close fierce… I’m very inconsistent with it. I use both but I prefer stick.

Edit: I love my shenanigans. But I’d be foolish to say I don’t need RSF. Without it you have to outplay your opponent ten times over.

Yea you guys really gotta get on it and learn RSF its a game changer, the tricks and mindsets you have now are way different once your opponent knows you can rsf. St.rh into quac isnt anything, any character can do a two hit punish. I would drop practicing any tricks or playing online and practice till its second nature to do at least 3 into slide.
