UPDATED (3/10/2012) "This will be over in a nanosecond" - UMvC3 QuickQuestion/QuickAnswer

Yeah I’ve played with it some more and doesn’t seem to work that way.

I was doing CROUCHING M, so my attempt to throw was getting caught with a LOW. You can’t both block low and attempt a throw even in blockstun. So you can use it to throw bait provided they want to throw teleports. Still once they stop attempting throw and just hold block(the crossup direction) there doesn’t seem to be any real mixup solo with sogenmu just by using teleports. The only real thing is pressure string into more pressure or they can throw you, but you can bait the throw and punish. Then they can opt to push block the pressure but you can bait the push block into a mixup they can’t throw. So the options are they die or you die. Or they get pressured or they get out. Not a good outlook for Zero to try.

I’m pretty sure in xfactor the odds go in zero’s favor though using s.L for mixups.

This exercise to me proves we really are supposed to use our assists to setup pizza slicer left/rights or jump teleport with assist mixups if we want to be safe. Grounded teleports covered by assists on grounded opponents will almost always be throwable unless you are frame tight (1-2).

In xfactor any level sogenmu c.M teleports are unthrowable and not a blockstring but still combo into each other. This makes xfactor zero more scary if you use it on grounded opponents. You can upback it though so you need to be prepared for that.

Did a lot of testing Zero vs Zero (in case position/hitboxes end up as an issue).
Xfactor sogenmu c.M ambiguous dash, delay for a short or medium time release buster is an unthrowable sequence of events that seems to amount to a 50/50 mixup regardless of how they pushblock, as long as they block the c.M (grounded). Also hit confirms easily. Doesn’t need assist except to set it up.

You can do s.H, sogenmu, dash c.M and it is not chickenblockable if they blocked s.H on the ground.
This uses the trick that c.M, shadow c.M is an unthrowable frame trap made a crossup if you teleport. it is pretty ambiguous and unthrowable which is key.
The opponent defeats that reliably with a timed pushblock. That sets them up for what appears to be an unthrowable ambiguous buster crossup if timed right.

Defensively there doesn’t seem to be a one-option-beats-all routine of timed pushblocking and mashing throw that beats it.

^video explanation please

I won’t have an opportunity to record video until after summer jam this weekend. I can try to describe this in more detail. I’ll try do this as a log of what I tried in training mode to whittle down the options.

Found that in xfactor with sogenmu you can c.M, teleport M for a crossup (the shadow hits after you pass through). Recorded the dummy doing this to me and I could not throw Zero out of teleport. I would get hit by the low attack.

Now I tried to pushblock and escaped the mixup. Zero was behind but I could throw. I rerecorded a buster release. I could make Zero unthrowable with early releases.

Recorded some varied timings of c.M, teleport M into buster. the result was a pushblock as early as possible was defeated by the buster release. varying the timing on the release would be an unthrowable beserker buster mixup. This part is the hardest to test though since pushblock timing should affect when you are supposed to release. Early releases are much easier to make unthrowable than crossup releases.

Last thing I found was the timing to pushblock the c.M to make the shadow c.M autoblock left/right. This discouraged me since the recorded timing I was playing back had all attacks (busters, c.M) getting auto blocked. If you try to adjust by letting teleport M finish before bustering you are throwable. But then I found you can time a buster late in the teleport that will crossup and be unthrowable.

Then I tried to pick four variations of delayed teleport M (for the c.M left/right) and early/late buster releases (for the buster left/right if they pushblock). Testing is somewhat difficult. It could be the adjusted timings to make things unthrowable leave other options beatable easily. I will test it more thoroughly when I get a chance on monday. Field tests have been positive so far.

What combo can you do after the grounded buster, dash, M? If I do H(charge during this), S, MMHS I don’t have it charged yet for the otg.

Start charging immediately after the buster shot and you will have a charge for the otg later.

perfect! thanks!

hey guys new to the forums

quick question, is there a place where all the zeros hang out and chat? looked for a general discussion thread but i couldnt find it lol either im blind or i just didnt notice it thanks in advanced!

We usually just chat on here through forums. Usually the zero what am I fighting for thread. Just post wherever and we chat it up.

is the timing for the vergil rapid slash immediately after you land and call vergil or do you delay it till the last possible moment like the dante extension

To my fellow pad warriors, my controller broke and I need to replace it. Id been using the 6-face madcatz fightpad. The dpad was a dream but it made charging buster impossible. Id like to rectify this. What controller, for xb360, do you use and/or recommend? Default ms and sony trollers’ d pads just don’t cut it. Anything out there with a great d pad and also 2 trigger buttons per side so I can finally use my best character, zero?

God that would be sweet. Thanks!!

I use this and I loves it.

You can also adjust the D-pad like this…

Sweet! You know if most GameStops or retail stores tend to carry this? or will I most likely need to order it? I’ll watch that video shortly, but I assume you get your motions consistently and all that?

Also, weird question but, you know if a wired version of this exists? Thanks again!

Yes. You can get it at just about any game stop. <_<

The one I got came with a wire and rechargeable battery and all that jazz. <3

^____^

Great, thanks! I guess my last question is just which button (physically, not the assigned command) you hold down for buster? I assume one of the left triggers, I messed around with a regular MS controller tonight just to see how Id want to lay out my buttons and playing with a trigger charged felt so unnatural. You know if the buttons are laid out on this the same way as the regular one with with just an improved d-pad? Or is the button layout also improved?

Sorry, SRK database error forced a double-post. So I guess I’ll compensate by editing up a relevant Zero question…

What are some good, if even standard (since Ill be somewhat new to Zero w/ the new troller), arial movement patterns in neutral with Zero? He’s got a lot of mobility options like air dashing, command dashing, the air DP moves, the “dive kicks,” etc etc. So what are some key sequences to know when jockeying for position, looking for my spot to go on the offensive? Even if they don’t all move me ‘in,’ maybe stuff to just fly around from left to right, or run away while spewing out some hit boxes, I think you get what I mean.

I’ll def be studying this in footage of top zeros, but wanted to make sure I asked all you experts on the forums as well. Thanks!!

It’s almost the same controller with a better D-pad. <<
My button layout is L for left trigger and right trigger is M + H. <

@@ just experiment with different button lay outs until you find something that you’re most comfortable with or what makes things easiest for you personally. ^_^

I bought it. And I’m having a bitch of a time motioning consistently. I can’t even tap a diagonal without inpt display reading 2 or more directions. So I’m wondering:
-which mode do you have it on?
-did you experience any control issues early on?

Its so weird cause I don’t think its defective or anything but then while you love it, and fanatiq loves it, but yet I’m finding it physically impossible to do something as simple as jH xx dash with magneto (it will usually magnetic blast on its own). -scratches head-

Thanks for all the help regardless lol

Oh my gosh. I almost forgot fanatiq has it too. Haha.

Oh I’m sorry it’s kinda weird at first. :X I keep it on the mode where the up, left, right, down are sticking out more. It really really helps me block better, and stuff. @_@ the only thing that can happen, is if you’re too rough like, with the left and right directions it might accidentally switch modes. That’s why you have to be like more gentle with it. I have dainty hands so that’s no problem for me. I’m sorry if it’s not super perfect. D: oh you’re welcome! I try to help out the best I can!
