I dont think this patch is the netcode patch that is schedule for the 28th. Its probably content that didnt make the on the DVD, cause man 772MB patch? Sounds like Ignition was forced to release this game when it wasnt complete. It probably helped the online netcode but I still expect a 2nd patch.
But that doesn’t make sense that they would release a huge patch, then one day later, release another…
EDIT: Also, it’s technically almost midnight in Japan.
Wouldn’t it be common sense to tell everyone on the Twitter the planned update is going up early?
The reason why the patch is so big is most of it is the installation that you get from the ps3 ver. Its just that now its forced upon you so that people that don’t install don’t lag out their connections anymore from loading.
This also shows that they can include more modes in as they did with online mode. I don’t think this is “THE” patch though.
It does make sense, the way this industry works these days. The relationship between Publisher and Developer. Since its a internet connected world now, publishers can force the hand of the developer to release games missing content or full of bugs with the plans to later patch it. 772MB is a large file, seems to me all the added options Ignition didnt have time to add it when the Publisher decided it was time for the DVD to go gold. I wouldnt be surprised if you downloaded addition characters with this patch.
Be ready for a 2nd patch.
I wish I could be as optimistic as you, but I do hope you’re right. I guess we’ll see tomorrow!
This is why it’s always good to be patient.
ROFL at the dedicated server bs. I think they’re now stalling because they realized they didn’t really fix it yet, I wish they would just let us P2P the game…oooh good ol kaillera. (rofl).
The patch is fubar, we know how a 1gb install of kof 12, and the netcode still blows, improved? Anything below what we wanted you to do isn’t improvement SNK! (though I don’t care and will still play).
Iunno if this is the 28th patch then I’m saddened, deeply saddened.
well its not 28th so i wouldn’t assume that way yet. Plus the servers could be for those chatrooms and stuff too.
Not being overly positive, just providing the flipside
This is depressing. From reading this change log, it sounds like ignition did patch the netcode somewhat with this update and expects the additional dedicated servers to pick up the slack. I don’t like where this is heading but I’ll reserve my judgment until tomorrow.
You can go into the Game Data Utility under the Game tab to find out how much space is being taken up by the game. The size of the file is 1530MB with the update. I have absolutely no idea though how much data was installed originally before the update.
If you really want to know if the patch overwrites the original install, you could just delete the Game Data Utility file and then start up the game and download the patch. Once everything is finished, go to the Utility and check the size of the file.
Thanks man, I am doing that right now.
EDIT: Okay so I deleted the 1530MB Game Data, and reinstalled the patch and it reads 772MB in the game data. So, if you installed the game pre-patch you will have to delete it, and then reinstall the patch.
^And what will this do? A forced install is good by all means, We wont have the minute long loading sequences that street fighter 4 had :<
How is the performance now without the old install? Perhaps there could be a conflict between the two data being there at the same time. Or… maybe it makes the game load better?
Yeah, it seems to load a little bit faster that pre-patch. The overall performance seems good though no problems because I erased the 1530MB game data.
Anyone seriously annoyed by the huge slow down in after the character order screen in the VS with the white lightning orb… then immediately slows down horribly… sure it doesnt effect game play… but its just bugs the hell out of me… figure the patch would fix this too but it did not.
I just deleted it because the file was doubled in size. (Because with the patch I installed the game twice technically) No need for 700+ MB’s on my HDD. It seems to load faster, plus it added some options for online play.
If you didn’t install the game pre-patch there is no need to delete any of the previous game data.
The game is so much better online because of this patch.
Officially nonissue.
The hell it is. Same laggy shit.
But then again the patch just for online is still coming tomorrow so I’ll hold off judgement till then.
