update out now

I’m thinking there could be conflicts between those who had previously installed the game, and those who got it with the patch. The file for KOF XII in the GAME DATA section is +1500MB, instead of replacing the old installation, it seems to have added to it. I’ll probably wait until they have the extra servers and see if there’s still lag. Depending on other people’s experiences, I’ll probably delete the file and download the patch again if I’m getting lag or errors.

We can always uninstall the game in the options, right? SC4 had that option…

Well, on PS3 yeah, you just delete the file in the GAME DATA section and download the patch again. I’m still unsure if there will be a problem with the update if you had the game installed before, I was just thinking it could be possible as some people said there was hardly any lag anymore, while others said it was the same as before the patch or worse. Probably more like connection problems between the players though. I’ll wait and see…

That does not sound like a netcode patch. That sounds like ‘half of the game replaced’ patch. BTW servers don’t really have much of anything to do with netcode.

Can’t tell a difference during online matches. They are still pretty crap.

I think the online play is a little better.

Kinda sounds like placebo effect…

And it’s not a boss?
What could they possibly do with 772 mb?

I guess it is meant to replace the install that was possible prior to the patch.

It didn’t fix the lag problem. All it did was fix the player met option for PS3 users and automatically installed the game.

Online still sucks, but atleast the patch fixed something.

Since it was a PS3-only patch, I presume the real online patch is still coming on the 28th.

I hope so, I can’t go fighting my friends casually forever.

it is a forced install

I’m not sure what you mean. The 28th patch IS only for the PS3 sir. SNK said they didn’t have an exact date for the 360 patch.

I think this patch is a preparation patch for the real patch. Can you confirm that its a forced install Boomee, i already ahve my game installed, so this kind of defeats the purpose. Then again, with a lot of people overlooking it, maybe its not so bad.

Oh, come on, you know exactly what I mean.

Well the installation it self was only around 600mb wasn’t it? So that’s 100mb over what the install was right!? (blind hope).

Who knows maybe they’re forcing us all to install some DLC characters, so that when other people buy them, we can still fight against them?

@BemaniAK:
No really, you’re not making any sense, because a ps3 only patch came before a ps3 only patch it must not be the official one?

Say what?

They added some online stuff. Invite with Square, friends met and friend match mode. Menus load a little faster…

I didn’t know that the 360 version didn’t have a date, it makes sense.

From the Ignition forums:

Update 1.01 Change log:

  • You can press Square now to invite a friend.
  • People you have fought appear in PLAYER MET now.
  • Menus are faster.
  • FRIENDS MATCH appears now in the Online section (no need to go through XMB method, but is still there PS3 ver that is)
  • Installation is not OPTIONAL ANYMORE, the Patch technically is the Installation of the game, try to install the game and it will prop you that it’s not necessary to install since the patch has the installation in it, that is the reason it’s 772 mbs.
  • Netcode is BETTER, yet NOT PERFECT, we aren’t sure if the dedicated servers are up already or not, so we will have to wait till then to know if the patch fix the lag with the dedicated servers.

Not to sound pessimistic, but I’m pretty sure this is the patch they planned to roll out before.
