update out now

Sucks, an amazing game dampened by bad online play =/

Ah well still awesome to play with the buds

Friend tried that and they said 22 for the trade in without any promotions or edge card

I’ve notice the menu are so much faster now. Good thing!!! Online is a little bit better, but no where it needs to be. However, my matches with action kung fu was very playable little lag. I’ll try more when I get home

Yeah, I washed my hands of it…they have a promotion going on for SF4 and its being sold brand new for $19 so I returned KoF and bought SF4.

Good luck guys, I hope those of you who are keeping this game have better luck.

So far Ive gotten some really good matches. Like Slide stated before, stay with 2-3 people rooms and everyone within the room must have 3-4 bar connection. This is what I am doing and its producing very playable online games.

You can wave your arms around like and enraged chimpanzee and proceed to weep bitter, bitter tears.

Seriously guys, it’s a good fighting game with a barebones port and a shaky online mode, it’s not a personal attack on your mother. Hell, fighting games with acceptable online modes are a fairly recent invention, so give this one a little time. Ignition is obviously supporting the title… so calm down, get yourself a tall glass of ice water, and chill.

The online mode will likely get better over time. Smaller companies often lack the resources to do in depth internal testing, so this isn’t too unexpected (at least for me).

all these casuals in the fighting game community…don’t you have friends to play with locally? I had 12 guys at my place the other night playing this, and again the night after. I haven’t even touched online mode.

local play is the only way.

only time network was decent was when i played someone else from hawaii

The problem is, by the time the online gets around to being fixed to an acceptable level, hardly anyone is going to have the game to play.

I have to state that I really do love this game. It’s a fantastic engine that has a lot of potential for future installments, but due to the fact that my local competition is limited to one other person, and because I really don’t see the online improving anytime in the near future, I’m more than likely going to return the game tonight. I don’t have a lot of time to indulge in too many fighters right now, and three is honestly a crowd (I expected this to make me drop Street Fighter IV completely, and I enjoy BlazBlue way too much to ever give it up). In the event that I do return it tonight, it was very nice talking to a lot of you, despite all of the arguments that have been going on in this thread.

You see???

The online blows, but can be playable when made properly. The netcode blows, because you have to do all of these things in order for it to be playable, but it’s still possible, though very selective.

and ggs btw.

SNK STILL NEEDS TO IMPROVE THIS SHIT. We shouldn’t have to be going through these extremes to get playable matches.

That’s not fully what I’m saying or stated, 2 people rooms, not 3.

Just 2.

2 people rooms.

2-man rooms.

Hosted games with only you and one other opponent. 1+1 = 2. No others.

If you add 1 more, then prepare for that shit to be totally unplayable.

I live in Illinois and the closest arcade the has it is an hour away and there is not that much people that go there to play it. Everyone is so obsessed with Sagat fighter 4.

Also wondering if today’s patch is the right patch since SNKP said the 360 patch was not dated yet.

I’ve been having some pretty lagless matches.

It’s you who doesn’t get the point, he makes perfect sense!

KOF 2003 and a lot of their XBOX SNK games (except 2002) had an awesome netcode!

SNKP was known for the best fighting game netcode back then, now they went to the worst fighting game netcode now!

I’ve been a huge supporter of SNKP for more than a decade, but after all the unforgivable shit they gave us this year, I lost all faith in them!

SNKP = biggest failure of the year!

This right here is my gripe, but apparently since it’s possible to play stuff online now, everything MUST be done online or else it’s not worth it. Online has always been secondary to me whenever I play fighting games, I don’t buy them with the intention of playing them online, I buy them to play them with friends, usually in the same room.

Apparently alot of people on these forums do not have any real life friends. These types of games have always been meant to be played on console (or an arcade cab) with folks in the same room. It’s more fun, you learn more, and the stuff you learn can actually be used in say a tournament.

I can concede that the internet makes playing games online easier, and that developers should make an effort to include internet connectivity, but don’t be salty and return a good game just because you can’t use an online mode. Get some friends, play with them and learn from each other. The internet isn’t robust or equal enough around the world to provide an even experience for everyone involved. Once we get to that point, you could argue “Hey, this game not having online is a jip.” At this point, there are far too many variables with internet connectivity that it isn’t a deal breaker for me if the game I play can or cannot be played online, especially with such a solid game as Kof12.

Amongst other questions, I always ask myself before I purchase anything like this “Can I play this by myself or with friends and be happy with it?” If the answer is no, I don’t waste my money. KOF can be absolutely played with friends and enjoyed, so crying over lack of online play is pretty lame.

All of my friends play SF4 >_< And they’re perfectly happy with it, and it has decent features and online to boot, plus a large playerbase. There no possible incentive to get them to learn another FG, and one thats lacking in so many secondary areas.

Whether KOF gameplay is better than SF4 is a matter of opinion. (i hate sf4 btw, although i still play when i visit them.) But KOF12’s inferiority in other areas is NOT a matter of opinion.

Heck, I’d buy kof12 just to practice to play at the arcade, like i did for kof95 on sega saturn. But noone plays 12 at the arcade even! I see them walk right past and play 98/02.

Thinking that online play isn’t important at all in the grand sceme of gaming in the U.S. is absolutely stupid. Pretend that there isn’t a community around you that wants to play kof, now what? Cause that is a reality for probably 70% of the fighting game community ESPECIALLY anyone interested in newer snk games. Garou/Kof98 are hits on ggpo and 2df for a reason.

Have a clue, yes?

Your post made me chuckle despite how sensible it is. Good job.

Also make sure you follow Slide’s suggestion:

“EVERYONE JUST PLAY AND HOST 2-MAN ROOMS”

Shouldn’t that be what everyone should be doing anyway if its not a GGPO/2DF service…? 2 man ‘‘rooms’’?

Clearly, you don’t get it. Or are an idiot. Or both.

Just got 360 patch. Before it was unplayable with a friend just a town over, now it seems to work how they want it to, but the input delay is pretty noticeable. It’s about the same as Mark of the Wolves, Samurai Shodown 2, Fatal Fury Special, etc on XBLA. Which is disappointing to say the least. I’ve already driven over to his house twice just to play, and that’s about half a tank of gas.

So sorry… Shit shit shit.

Apology accepted.
