It was an off night for me, as well. Interesting, as well, since I played a lot of Super Ojii-chan, that other good Boxer, and Ponyo. I guess there just weren’t as many people tonight. A lot of the beastly regulars didn’t show up.
However, I beat Tenchou’s Gouki, and that 25k Ryu that was beasting. 
Apparently, next week Tenchou’s setting up an “America vs. France” tournament thing, if I recall correctly. Represent, y’all.
Let’s just hope Rani doesn’t show up to work us all. We’ll have to get CFAY to come be our ringer.
Also: Wish me luck, since I’m finally moving tomorrow to Yokohama.

Oh, and hey. You guys know that I’m an ok player right? Nothing really spectacular by the standards… Last sunday I took a train/taxi up to LA for the ranbat at arcade infinity. First of all… it was friggin sweet. It was my first real tournament and there were 64 entrants and a metric ton of hype. I placed 5th! Here’s the video of my last win vs. viscant’s gief. Ending conclusion of american SF4? We have some CRAZY on point boxer’s, seriously. For some reason, we have yet to tap into the true potential of shotos/sagat though due to execution problems. There are a lot of tiger uppercut FADC whiff f.hk’s going on and it’s hurting. The japanese never miss that stuff! I got knocked out of the tourney by a very on point rufus who seemed up to the japanese standards as well. The tournament was won by Mike Ross, who played a very on point honda. I didn’t witness any dictators who really stuck out and no good goukis either.
And as a disclaimer, everyone there still played awesome and are incredible people. I don’t want this to sound like I’m talking down to any of these guys. Simply pointing out the differences in the cultures.

slinkun i been there like three times since you left and those three times i was just passing by. old time rival mackey showed up but thats about it. the other times it was just dudes trying to learn. boxers game is so easy compared to ryu/sagat, thats why there are so many boxer players…even in japan.

That’s really up to CFAY. I’m sure he could get any number of better players to team up with if he was planning on entering. But, I guess I am looking for someone to team up with for that April 2v2 SF4 qualifier so if anyone’s interested let me know.
Be forewarned: I still have a lot of leveling up to do, but playing in tournaments seems like the next step.
Well it was just a beginners tournament anyway. It seems my hardest matchups had already psyched themselves out for me. You’ll see in the videos once they post.
Really, I think that anyone who goes from our group(sports land freeplay foreigners lol) has a good chance at winning.

How many young players do you see playing? Do you see things like 15 year olds with like 50K or more BP?
Has the arcade scene died out after the console release? Or has it grown more?
Do people talk/whine about how strong they think certain characters are?
Do people crowd around cabinets with players that have ridiculous win streaks?
