I won’t be able to go. That sucks, but at least that’s for good reasons: I’ve finally got a job I wanted, and there’s a tender for another job the next week.
I was planning to go but that wont be possible. I even bought the tickets to the fair as well as the plane tickets to Sao Paulo. I would go to Sao Paulo at day 10/10 and return at 10/15, but I bought the plane tickets before the end of the Strike in the Brazillian universities. When the strike ended the new calendar was released: i have a exam 10/11 and another one at day 10/15, I had to cancel both plane tickets. Also, the weekend which the tournament will happen is exactly in between the end of the semester(where the last exams happen) and the finals week. There wont be a free week to study for the finals this semester because they’re trying to fix the calendar. As you can see theres not much in favor, so i will unfortunately not be able to go. I am upset, I was training for it, but i can’t prioritize a tournament over my studies.

DG has a good chance to win it, but it’s not guaranteed. We got killers in LA who are all contenders for the spot, not to mention the talent coming in from NorCal and SD.
I was referring to the Brazilian player deathgun. He took all 3 major ST tournaments so far, in recent years. Dark Gaiden is definitely a great player, but I know there are other killers in LA. I hope to visit you guys, someday, to practice my Hadou spamming.
Is he primarily an HDR guy? Most of the footage I see of him is for SF4. DG seems pretty solid from what I saw of his fight against Thomas_BR. Seems like he has some troubles stopping unanticipated jump-ins.
Quite the contrary. That was pretty unusual. He is usually fast enough that he will super your random jumps, and not super if you use a Tatsu at the top of the jump’s arc. He can also super Gief’s and Blanka’s jumps on reaction most the time.
He used to play on GGPO more several years ago. For now, he must be on PSN to get used to PS3’s lag.
Edit: he said he’s not going. Damn… Not sure who will take it anymore. It was a huge chance for me, I suppose, but I’m heavily untrained and, well, I ain’t got the time. I should be someone among Wal-Garants, Belotadentro and Earquemann, now. Unless some missing old player ressurects, such as agamemnon.
Sorry to hear that. Shit sucks, but I hope whoever qualifies does a good job at the finals.
Am I just reading the rules wrong, or are the prizes for Brazil JUST a trip to the GF? There’s no pot prize?!
Nice catch. I got no idea where the fuck is the money. But people here are not really trustworthy: such is the curse of living in a 3rd world country. Anyone may have taken it, from Capcom personal from Brazil to the organizers from Brazil Game Show. Which sucks to the ones going there, since its the poorest country, by far.
That’s unfortunate. What’s even worse is that the prize that IS listed (trip to Grand Finals) is extremely vague. Does that mean your flight gets paid for? Partially paid for? Hotel included or not included?
For all we know, the 1st place prize is just the OPPORTUNITY to go to GF, and you have to furnish travel+accomodations expenses for yourselves. That’d be pretty fucked up if that was the case.
Anyone know if the HDR classic tourny in LA is going to last into sunday? I have sat off and I’m not sure if I need to request sunday off too.
