Unpopular gaming opinions SECOND IMPACT

without even addressing the point I made about needing to spend MORE MONEY just to get the system to par.

Nor did he address the point that a game like LBP has effectively infinite possibility and replayability.

And all of them, including SCIV look better on 360. I cant confirm, since I only have the PS3 edition, but online reviews says its brighter and crisper. And I already know Live is better. If the d-pad wasnt so BIG of an issue, that would have been YET another game on 360 over teh PS3.

You are right. I wouldnt have bought a PS3 if I didn’t want to play Gran Turismo 5, but that wont be until 2011, though.

Okay. It continues. As long as we stay civilized.

PS3 for me

60GB system = 500
Dual shock 3 = 65 (imported)
headset wireless= 20 (used)

XB360 for me (latest one)

Halo system = 400
headset wireless= 40 (used)

The halo one had the battery and plug and play.

The TV came the with HDMI cord, so that was not needed or either.

Done in prior post; if you want that go do some create a guys. Oblivion, wrasslin, Saints Row, whatever else.

If you can’t confirm, then stop trolling.

Although I enjoyed both when they came out, the Shenmue series will always be heavily defended by people for what it did when it came out instead of the legacy it holds now. Phantasy star 1,2 and 3 fall in that category as well

Since Sega seems to have no interest in concluding the story, Shenmue is one of those games I wish I never played.

Games like Panzer Dragoon, Final Fantasy Tactics, Gunstar Heroes, Mario 3, Jet Grind Radio, Tony Hawk 2 are still fun til this day and games like Shenmue aren’t.

Incorrect. Creating a new character in a game does not in any way have the same effect as an entire game based around creating levels and sharing them. For one thing, your own created character doesn’t do much to increase replay value for other players. In another, more important point, custom characters do not have anywhere near the same level of variety or originality that tons and tons of homemade levels can have. Homemade levels leave more room for self-expression and disparity. Really, to even try to pass off create-a-character as better than custom levels is laughable. And this is coming from someone who wishes every game had create-a-character too.

Ohh, ONE point I cant make from experience, and I’m trolling. Video reviews of SCIV says that. Other games I have played in the past, says that.

Take things too serious much, guy? :looney:

There are only going to be so many things you can do still. You cant affect gravity, or any engine/physics aspect. It will be no different than custom Brawl stages, except online. See, its not original, and has been done before.

It is better. I prefer making a human of my own design and seeing that character go through a game, especially in cut-scenes, as if they were a default character. In LBP, you get Jim Henson muppet looking deals, and run them through a level. No story, getting to see your guy do stuff, nothing.

I tell ya what. You can play litle Big Planet, have fun with other’s designs. I will make some custom chicks in Saints Row 2 and blast shit away all night.

I prefer the 360 over PS3 because there aren’t any pirated blu-rays yet.

ZING!

I heard Hatred Edge hates 360.

xbox games suck, there I said it

yep.

Just because some other things have similarities doesn’t mean that the later one isn’t original. LBP takes the foundation of custom levels which other games have done and improves upon it by providing a larger variety of things you can do and by designing the entire game around sharing with each other. Of course there will be limitations upon what you can do, but nonetheless a level editor will still provide countless more variety and possibilities than a create-a-character does. It just takes some imagination.

And that’s cool that you prefer create-a-character; everyone has their preferences. But you know what? Nobody else gives a crap about your created character. It doesn’t really do anything for them. Custom levels, on the other hand, there is a real reason for people to take an interest in someone else’s design. It can be fun and interesting to people beyond the person who originally made it. A whole slew of custom-made levels will do a lot more to improve the longevity of the game as a whole, across the market.

If you prefer create-a-character, that’s fine for you. Again, everyone has their personal preferences. But to try and just write off LBP is a joke. Many people are very excited to see what they can come up with, see if they can create things that will interest other people, and see if other people can create things that will interest them.

PSX actually became popular in '1998, and continued to be popular when the N64 was released.

Your “exceptions” only support my point, which is: Most people have the common sense to judge a console by what it provides, and not by what the previous consoles did.

Like I said, YOU might not like it, but can you see how OTHER people might consider it one of the most highly anticipated games out there?

Funny how you diss free things and the play the “you get what you pay for” card, and suddenly, price becomes a con when you’re talking about Blu-Ray.

Personally, I have no problems with my wireless connection. Always 100% connectivity.

So, you’re judging the entire BD library by one movie that you haven’t even seen. And for the record, if I genuinely thought that the X360 was better and felt that I NEEDED BD to justify my PS3 purchase, I would have bought an X360 instead. Regardless, I’m only speaking for myself, but I’ve spent more time and money on BD than video games.

Why not compare Resistance 2 to Gears 2? It would make it a little less obvious that your opinion is heavily biased and one-sided.

I had a X360, then Blu-Ray won the high-def war, so I sold it and bought a PS3. If HD DVD won, I’d probably still have an X360 and a Toshiba HD DVD player instead.

Having more systems doesn’t count for anything. It doesn’t make you any less biased. Someone can have none of the systems and still give a good argument, and then someone can have ALL of the systems and still twist facts to make their FAVORITE system look better (kinda like you).

Yes. You said something without being able to back it up, and that is trolling b/c you know it’s going to get a rise out of people in the thread.

btw, I’m watching the gametrailers comparison right now and it doesn’t look any different from each other. Also Gametrailers has the tendency to ‘conviently’ leave out Full-Range HDMI which makes a hell of a difference. Leaving that option out puts the Xbox games heavily in their favor. Everyone whose even serious about real comparisons know this.

edit: even when Gametrailers did that, the SCIV PS3 version still ended up looking a bit better than the 360 version. Unless you go looking for the differences you’re not going to really see it.

I remember the one about The Darkness, it looked brighter in the PS3 version on the video, yet when I actually played it on my own screen with HDMI Full-Range and it came down to the only difference was the more realistic textures (which everyone seemed to agree on)

Exactly. Which is why in 2007 the 360 was bar-none the choice to get.

I only brought up price, because you are gonna watch it once.

I’m not judging the BD library, I’m showing you how important BD is to me; so important that I never watched one.

Because you only have a PS3. YOu wanted to get some use out of it, right? Ofcourse you have a ton a BD and no games.

Point is, I thought LBP was some kind of second coming? People treat Gears 2 like the second coming, and PS3 people treat LBP like, so why not compare?

I wont be buying either so its a moot issue here.

I had a X360, then Blu-Ray won the high-def war, so I sold it and bought a PS3. If HD DVD won, I’d probably still have an X360 and a Toshiba HD DVD player instead.

I dont have a favorite system. I have games that I want to play, and one of the 2 available outlets happens to usually be better than the other one. You see, I had no problems getting Soul Calibur on PS3 over 360.

I’ll be playing both on an LG 32’ HDMI back to back soon enough.

ROFL. Dude, one thing you need to get through your thick skull is that not everybody is like you. Just because BD’s are a 0 to 1 time watch for you, doesn’t mean it is for everyone else. Just because you dislikes BD’s doesn’t mean everyone else dislikes them and buys them just to justify their PS3 purchase.

I don’t expect you to agree to anyone else’s opinion, but you need to learn how to distinguish between statements that can be accepted as fact and statements that are opinion.

Examples of facts:
-X360 exclusively has Halo 3.
-PS3 has Blu-Ray as an advantage over X360.

Examples of opinion:
-Blu-Ray’s are not worth watching more than once.
-LBP sucks

BTW, for the record, if I had a LG 32", I wouldn’t bother with Blu-Ray either. I’ll give you that.

what the hell. like how stupid can you be??? Only from Pro-360 fanboys like you, that I hear stupid crap like this. You guys are always blabbing about how PS3 gamers have no games, yet they have a bigger and more meaningful library than most 360 gamers I know including myself! And if you check out my Gamercard you’ll see I probably even have more games than you (but disregard those stupid games like Jumper some of those games were bought and played on my system by my friends nephew)

because they are not the same type of game squid brains.

Bullshit it’s clearly an Xbox 360 and anyone reading this thread can tell you that. You think the X360 is the coming of the God’s and that MS can do no wrong, and they’ve been roflstomping PS3 this whole time when that was so much further from the truth. I don’t give a damn if you bought the PS3 when it was 648, 500 or whatever, like bokchoy said, just because you own the system doesn’t make you any less biased than you already are. If I can’t use that, you can’t either. You’re fucking biased as hell.

Okay then, go ahead and play both. If you don’t know what you’re looking for they will look identical. But since you’re biased, you’re just going to say the 360 version looks better by default like everybody else. If you go into comparison threads and posts (especially on gametrailers) you’ll just see people saying 360 version is better for no damn reason whatsoever and when the REAL comparison talk comes out, either it’s identical or the PS3 version is better.

Case in point. Oblivion. We had people that were even Pro-360 fanboys say that the PS3 version looks better but we always had some idiots come in that said 360 version is better, fuck the PS3 version so and so without even OWNING a PS3 version to even try it. Does that sound like somebody?

I love it when people bash the Dreamcast with little or no knowledge of it at all. they just use the old “it failed” excuse so they can be ignorant assholes.
SNES “failed” and you dont hear people whine about that.
literally every system has failed, and yet the N64 is still put on a pedestal for the handful of games really worth playing and is a pretty piss poor gaming machine as a whole.

According to a foolish co-worker I:
-need to sell all my gaming machines and buy a 360 so I can play CALL OF DUTY AND DAT GEARS OF WAR YO!!
-am one of ten people who actually own a Dreamcast.
-am dumb for liking anything thats over 1 to 5 years old.
-need to buy the Wanted movie game because “YOO CAN CURVE DUH BULLITS! BOOSH! BOOSH! BOOSH!!”. no joke, he actually said boosh boosh boosh to simulate the sound of a gun while flipping through an issue of Game Informer.
-am dumb for liking Neo-Geo games even though he probably has no idea what it is other than the silly name, sorry pal.
-have just made a lot of poor decisions as far as gaming goes.

he is my new Obi-Wan, his wisdom has shown me the light.
fucking stooge. hate that kid.

Not exactly on topic, but I always thought the Dreamcast failed because it specified to a really particular niche. According to what I’ve studied, catering to niches isn’t always the best thing to do and mass marketing actually seems the way forward (not applicable in all instances of course).

I mean, just look at the Wii. Last I checked it had amazing sales.
