Unpopular gaming opinions SECOND IMPACT

Niche?? what niche?? I remember the dreamcast days vividly and it’s probably my favorite console. It had a wide range of games, you could find anything on the DC.From popular FPS to classic RPGs to new and amazing fighters, then you had the SHUMPs, the rythm games, arcadey racing games etc etc. It’s not like it was expensive, the hardware was great, the games were amazing, it was the first fully functional online console.

The Dreamcast was just an amazing system, I don’t see what’s not to like about it.I think the ps2’s hype was just too big for the dreamcast to handle. After the amazingly successful PS1 era, people were really looking forward to that new machine with DVD-playing capabilities.

The only thing it was missing was a Breath of Fire game

The niche of really dedicated players?

Maybe niche was not the right word to use. But it certainly catered more to a certain type of player. Fighters and SHMUPs galore. Not too many RPGs but I think more than most realise. A bunch of really oddball games…and not enough high profile stuff that can be seen in the mainstream eye.

Of course, remember these are all theories and assumptions, so I could be horribly wrong.

Hmmh no you’re actually right about that, I think it was a kind of niche maybe not that big(bad?) of a niche, but one nonetheless.Dedicated players is exactly right.I think like you said, there weren’t that many high profile games on the DC, just a lot of new(and awesome) IPs that got heavily overlooked, because everyone was still going crazy over their Zelda: OOT, MM, and the plethora of FFs.

Dreamcast didn’t fail dudes. It made a significant profit for Sega, just not enough to cover the hole they dug themselves into with the Sega CD, 32X, and Saturn (in America. If we had Segata Sanshiro then it might have been otherwise).

The next time you see him, you should piledrive him.

He does a good job of summing up the reasons i wont pay to be apart of an online gaming community. The main reason people buy 360’s. (To get on live)

There are a lot less obvious racists online with PS3. (Probably since less people in America have a PS3 but still, it affects the games i want to enjoy.)
I know, i know i can always mute.
I’ll buy a 360 if KOTOR 3 comes out and i can’t play it on PC/PS3.

thats exactly what I said. I said “well, Dreamcast was kind of a niche system. it takes a certain type of gamer to appreciate what it has to offer”. and he was like “pssh, whatever, Ill stomp you in Madden”.
he didnt say that specifically, but he was talking to his friend and predicting the stomping he would deliver in the Maddens.
sigh
srk, Im glad Im not the only one who isnt stupid.

…Yeah, can you fanboys go back to fighting about who has the cooler system? I’ve been pulling for it in the thread for weeks, and you’re kind of derailing things here. We all know the Dreamcast was great, but I hear that if you like the PS3, you’re completely and totally unable to please a woman. Seriously, it was on 1up. But, I read at IGN that if anyone games on an Xbox 360, they’re a pedophile, invariably- and I mean the sexual predator kind, not the everyone-is-a-pedophile kind.

Only people that annoy me more than that are the kids who think they are edgy because they have a working NES or Atari 2600.

Roomate: "ZOMG, I played Zelda II with the gold cartridge"
Me:“So The fuck what nigga” continues playing Pacman CE

Reviving a dead thread because I wanna talk about my 2nd play-through of “The World Ends With You.”

Outside of the concept of the Reaper Game and how you have to win to be revived, the way everything is explained is so fucking convoluted. Its pretty much the videogame equivalent to post Freiza Saga DBZ where you could tell everything was made up on the fly because there is a silly explanation to everything.

Alright well there is something I have to say so I think I’ll say it…Chrono Trigger is NOT that fucking good.

Still waiting for StarCraft:Ghost.

It’s now called tiberium.

This is probably the only reason why i don’t own a ps3 right now.

^Even if you could pirate bu ray discs the picture quality would be raped just like regular dvds nowadays that’s why I still buy them.

I hate World Ends With You, such an overhyped shitty game. Only thing original about it was its somewhat adequate fighting system. Sadly the game would have been much better off with a standard fighting system installed.

The soundtrack in Symphony of the Night sounds nice, but they’re all weak as hell, and can’t lay a finger on the soundtracks for the PS2 Castlevanias and other classic CV tracks (like CV4, Rondo of Blood and Simon’s Theme in CV Chronicles).

Oh yeah…blasphemy time once again: Fallout 3 just isn’t grabbing me at all. The only thing so far that looks appealing from what I’ve seen is the violence factor. At least visually…it’s just boring to me. Part of this is the fact that the entire FPS style of presentation has been stale for a long time now. Bioshock might be the last FPS experience that stood out as enjoyable for me. (*I think there’s a 3rd person view option in F3, right? Eh, that still doesn’t eliminate the dull visuals though)

*I was hyped for GTA4…but that interest faded quickly for some reason…now I don’t even care that much, and probably will never buy that game. Part of the sudden drop in interest is that I saw in vids and heard people talk about how the driving controls are “more realistic” now. Realism usually translates to “NOT FUN.” in a videogame for me. Driving is a classic example of that. Who would’ve enjoyed Twisted Metal games if vehicles like Minion’s tank ACTUALLY controlled like a real-life tank or 6-wheeler? That shit would’ve sucked all the fun out of the Twisted Metal experience. I might buy GTA4 when it’s cheap about 400 years from now…but I will get Saint’s Row 2 immediately…it looks so much more fun, and they still have an edge with the player character being fully customizable…this is always preferrable to being stuck as a particular character the whole time, imo. GTA4’s main character happens to look incredibly goofy…I guess that would help with comedic value though…

*I still hate Ring Outs with a passion…whoever came up with the concept is a sissy.

*PSP still kills DS.

Million, isn’t the Fallout series more of an RPG than an FPS anyway?

was the track that made me dig Castlevania: SotN.

*Complete with HQ sound code!
