Even though I agree with one or two of your points, way to completely invalidate your opinion off the top. Wind Waker was better than OOT? GTFO
Yoshi story was godly. GTFO
JSR…better than Tony Hawk 1 or 2? GTFO.
Probably because most people don’t know or don’t care due to it being the “must own current-gen console for the REAL gamer”. Though to be fair the system only sells that well in America (and even then it’s losing ground). This is no surprise due to the fact that many games target the North American gamer. It’s one of the reasons why it pales towards the PS3 in Europe and can’t sell at all in Japan (as well as pathetic low budget advertising) not to mention the change in market happening in the gaming world.
It was. Tony Hawk 1 has the worst control scheme of any game ever, and Tony Hawk 2 was simply mildly entertaining for a few runs and then it sputters out.
Jet Grind/JSR is fire.
Well I’m going to pick up a 360 Arcade pretty soon here because theres no other option to get the games that are on it. Either that, or I don’t want to deal with the PC version so there you go. I’m not enthusiastic about the RROD thing, in fact when I bought my first PS3, I chose that over the 360. It’s amazing how long my friend’s 360 lasted though, that thing, with the original intercooler has survived since launch.
Just for the record, I had two 360’s that RROD 3 times over the course of a year. The last time during which was the release of a game I wanted to play, but could not.
Bought it at launch, and I played it about 1~2 times a week, that’s making myself play it. I want to see the depth everyone is talking about, but I’m just not seeing it. The game has really good sense of height, that’s pretty much only thing I like about it. If the appeal is in “all girls fighter” I’ve seen better, Asuka 120 Perfect and Advanced VG for instance. Monster is better in terms of customization and air control. EFZ and Marvel kills the game for combos.
THPS2 was gdlke and the park creator was countless hours of fun but JSRF and to a lesser extent JGR are better games in every way; art style, plot, characters, fun, and it was pretty damn simple but innovative in it’s own right.
I would go so far as to say JSRF is one of the greatest games of all time because for me at least it was as fun as it was different.
The yellow light is actually an easily fixable diagnostic error. I don’t remember what it is exactly, but they were talking about it on Blu-ray.com a while back.
-I liked Final Fantasy VII. I think the game has more haters than fans these days due to SE selling out.
-FPS games suck. The Unreal series are the only good ones anymore
-I REALLY want to get into Capcom games but most of them have sucky fixed camera angles (DMC, RE, etc.)
-Guitar Hero fucking sucks. How cool do you look holding a toy guitar?
-I wish I could get into Metal Gear Solid as well, but I hate the gameplay
-Tiers =/= Skill. Fuck tiers, I play with who I’m good at
I’d rather take a machine that might RROD on me than an over priced blu-ray player with non-existent gaming library any day. No, Resistance doesn’t count because it licks donkey balls, and the argument that it has all the 360’s good games as well is void because the best for me include online play, and Microsoft has always trumped Sony in that department.
Maybe I need to give it another shot, because at first glance I wasn’t very excited.
I don’t like Guilt Gear at all and I completely understand it.
Edit for SuicidalGrandpa: Most 360 users adopt the system for it’s online play because it is better than that of the PS3. You get what you pay for, you pay $5 a month and we pay nothing, we really don’t have a right to complain. But to call the PS3 an overpriced BD player is just stupid.
*Blu-Ray Player=$400
PS3 (Game system+Blu-Ray player)=$400

See what I did there?
I don’t understand how people don’t like Guilty Gear. I mean, it’s fast-paced, deep, a good amount of unique characters with varied moves, tons of options, a near standardized defense system (Burst, Faultless Defense, Slashback, etc.), the combos are fun to perform and the options are just about limitless, and it’s pretty well-balanced. I mean, the top tiers (seemingly even more in Accent Core) have a good amount of bullshit, but it’s not that bad, and this is coming from someone who’s main character is Chipp (fuck fighting Potemkin though haha).
It’s not like 3rd Strike where all the major tournaments come down to Chun or Yun, who all do the exact same strategies and combos. I can’t even stand to watch 3rd Strike tournament videos anymore, even though I do like the game.
Some people cite the “anime” style of the game, but really, most fighting games, coming from Japan, are anime-influenced. And it’s not like most Guilty Gear characters are fruit-baskets either, most of them are cool and decently manly, while being varied. But if people dig characters like Bridget, fine on them.
