Unpopular gaming opinions SECOND IMPACT

-People need to stop bicthing about some RPGs not being real-time. Cleary those retards haven’t played FFX. You want Sin, sinspawn, Anima and that Onslaught-type boss attacking you in real time? And what about the end where you fight your Aeons? If you played the game right, your Aeons kills you in 1 hit. What do you think happens when Bahamut does Mega Flare?
-RPGs rock. Just because you actually have to play a game where you can’t just up and do bullshit doesn’t mean it’s a bad game.
-Radiata Stories isn’t as bad as it’s made out to be. It’s a bit funny, and your recruit your own teammates. Plus your armor is visible. Clearly you guys didn’t get the Dark Knight armor. Badass.
-DMC is the shit. Weapon-switch in midair>combo>jc>combo rules. And it’s good to have a character that DOESN’T die in midair(Hayabusa). Plus Vergil is badass. No other action game comes close to Dante and Vergil. They can’t block cuz they DON’T need to block.

Okay, what? RPGs have a hell lot of bullshit in them, just like…every other genre there is.

And Radiata Stories IS as bad as it’s made out to be.

Also, I knew I forgot something! Star Ocean: Till the End of Time is the only Star Ocean game worth playing too (continuing my previous two posts).

Hella bump (hopefully this is not a bad thing).

I found Zelda: Phantom Hourglass to be a not so good game. I just can’t understand how this game was considered the best DS game of 2007. I felt it was too boring, with incredibly unlikeable characters, nonexistent difficulty, relatively poor controls, among other things.

Same thing applies to Ninja Gaiden DS. Nonexistent difficulty (at least on the default level, which is what I judge a game’s difficulty on), an unbelievably broken healing Ninpo, too short (as in less than 5 hours short), and way too simplified (this may actually be a good thing). However, it looked pretty good and controlled alright. I find it at least better than Ninja Gaiden 2, which leads to my next point.

Ninja Gaiden 2 should not even be considered to be a CANDIDATE for greatest action game IMO. The enemies and bosses nearly ruined the entire game for me. You either have to fight enemies who shoot out near instant, unblockable projectiles with 0 lag afterwards or enemies that have infinite super armor and grab you out of your combos ALL THE TIME. This game punishes you for actually trying to be stylish and forces you to spam weapons like the Scythe in order to even survive. There’s no sense of accomplishment, mixing up combos is pointless and will get you killed, the story is pointless and makes no sense, there are bugs all over the place, this game is hard but in a cheap way, not in a challenging but good way. Devil May Cry 4 is leagues better than this mess of a game.

I guess it’s an opinion that falls outside the majority…the realistic war games just don’t appeal to me. The only one I would consider playing is Call of Duty 4, because the visual presentation there is absolutely amazing. Other than that one exception…it’s always a non-issue for me when such games are released. It’s the whole “reality = lame” thing again…same reason I have no interest in realistic sports games. Give me a war game that involves aliens, demons, mutants, robots or vampires, or just people using superhuman abilities (the wonderful world of Unreal Championship!), and that’s much more appealing for me…it’s infinitely more interesting than playing through World War 2 for the billionth time since 1998. Don’t players ever get tired of playing World War 2? That’s another reason CoD4 is something I might play someday…at least it isn’t WW2 again like everything else. Still, I need some super-jumps, wall-jumps, flying, demons, magical abilities, robots, ninja, teleportation…I’ll take that over realism anyday.

I lament the fact that Point and Click/adventure games aren’t able to compete in todays adrenaline-packed mindlessly-violent gaming world
Don’t get me wrong, I love me some CoD4/(insert good MMO)etc etc, but hell, I’m only 23, and I used to love playing those Lucasarts/Sierra games
Space Quest, LSL, The Dig, Sam and Max, the list goes on… they were 2d and alot have… even for their time, fairly crappy graphics, but they were fun damnit!

After this, I just giggled at your points a little.

Anyways, my biased and shitty opinions:

  • God of War is the worst platforming/action/whatever genre game I’ve EVER played that got a score higher than 6. I would rather play the first Prince of Persia with a broken Powerglove than play that overhyped piece of garbage.
  • Third Strike, MvC2, Real Bout, Power Stone and Soul Calibur 1 suck.
  • Star Ocean 3, Final Fantasy VII, Final Fantasy X, Chrono Cross, Valkyrie Profile 2, Parasite Eve and the entire Xenosaga trilogy (NOT Xenogears, that game was too good) suck. Just read the Parasite Eve book and get a better understanding of the story without bad graphics and a dull battle system.
  • Vagrant Story is the best dungeon crawl ever made, aside from Ehrgeiz’s Quest Mode, a distant second.

Keep in mind none of these are to be taken seriously.

While I see this thread here…Final Fantasy 8 was the most garbage game I’ve ever played in my entire life. I would put myself through electroshock to make myself forget it was ever made if I could.

Fuck Capcom for not bringing back the BoF series yet.

Metal Slug is the best series ever

Shadow of the Colossus is the best game ever. EVER.

Ever.

And this isnt really about video games, but video game culture in general: I HATE when people talk about old-ass games/systems like it makes them cooler just because they owned an Atari, NES, powerglove or whatever. I get it, you were born in the 80s and you remember stuff from your childhood. I GET IT. Oh, you remember this or that about so and so game? Guess what, so does everyone else that has the internet/friends/G4.

and:

Too true.

I wholeheartedly disagree, but you’re welcome to your opinion. I’d MUCH rather play FFVIII than fucking FFVI.

  • Here’s a (somewhat) unpopular one: I FUCKING HATE 90% of MMORPGs. This includes but is not limited to World of Warcraft, FFXI, Everquest, Age of Conan, Neverwinter Nights, Guild Wars, Diablo, Hellgate: London, and so on. Most of the time it’s the retarded “western RPG” aka D&D-style/direction they have that pisses me off, and the other times it’s they way they’re played. I actually much prefer the semi-MMO feel found in Phantasy Star Online/Phantasy Star Universe, and vastly prefer both games to anything on that list.

  • I don’t like BioWare games.

  • I like Tales games (Tales of the Abyss in particular) better than Final Fantasy, Dragon Quest, and the Chrono series.

  • I like the X series better than Mega Man/Rockman.

This.

Megaman games suck.

Missed the title of the thread? UNPOPULAR OPINIONS

Yeah, that is fucked up. The series overall was very solid in both gameplay and stories and I wish they’d at least make a new one on the DS.

BoF on the DS would be fucking great.I’d love a remake of I or II since the graphics are getting kinda old, even as a big BoF fan.Apparently some Camelot(golden sun) people want to revive BoF.

I’d take anything at this point, Ryu6 needs to happen!

honestly thought i was the only one.

I hate guilty gear…

You are certainly not, I can’t stand megaman games.

I like a lot of popular modern games that srk doesn’t:rofl:

(FPS including halo, madden, gta, assassins creed, etc)

y’all don’t like megaman 'cause it’s too hard for ya
