Unpopular gaming opinions SECOND IMPACT

Seriously though, part of whats wrong with Madden is that they bought exclusive rights to produce NFL endorsed games. Now that nobody else can make them, they dont have a reason to try. They monopolized American Football games.

Go is better than chess

fixed.

Fixed

Helped you out there.

You do realize that the NFL came to EA to give them their license exclusively right? My guess is they were concerned how video games portrayed their sport. If anyone is to blame its Midway.

Edit: Done goofed again but the NFL gave it the go ahead

4:30 ish

Yoshi’s island is the best super mario game ever made.

Another way of looking at it is how konami got it so wrong.
There was a very good article about this i linked in this thread a while back.

But i dont really fifa has got it right, not to say they have not improved, because they have and you got to give them credit for that, but really most fifas are still pretty shit, it’s just they seem better because what’s the competition?

It’s the rolling the shit in glitter effect, under all the glitz of official licensing, good graphics, trivial additions, it’s still a shit, it’s just now the competition is now diarrhea minus the glitter to

Lack of competition is disturbing

Uncharted 2 is better than The Last of Us

The way I heard it, is that EA bullied their way in there with those deep pockets. Anyway, FUCK the NFL for shutting down my NFL Street series. That shit was awesome when i was a kid. I’ve never liked Madden, but when i was 12 or so I would have a grand old time if you put NFL Street 2 in my playstation.

I actually enjoyed/enjoy Tekken 4. Not all the characters fit into the new engine but I like that it took some risks and steps. Back when it came out it was my first time playing Tekken on a console. I like the more offensive focus and the more apparent realism, although it of course is not totally realsitic (anyone who’s been near it should know that). People fighting in malls streets (actual STREET FIGHTING?!!) etc in the stages is also an interesting treatment.

It seems to be a popular misconception that GGXX is entirely too complicated for the average fighting gamer to understand. It. Is. Not. It is also entirely dependent on you and the character you pick on how complicated you want to be. You picked Eddy? Good luck to your fingers and/or thumbs. The irony in this is that people play Marvel and then complain about execution or the number of subsystems. Yes GG is hard friggin core. But it’s not as if you have to re-crack the Rosetta Stone and then explain relativity in order for the average player to get it. At least I hope not.

Another misconception is that VF is slow. VF. is. not. slow. VF got a bit slower during 5 when stepping was taken to new levels and Kage began to seriously rule the tier lists. The game series itself however is not slow. Most matches last around maybe a minute or two. I remember thinking vf was slow however when I got 4evo in 2003. However this was due to my lack of knowledge about the game and how it played. Once I came back some years later and actually sat down and learned the game and played some matches against its excellent AI, the opposite became glaringly apparent. VF is hyper-fast on occasion, and what slows it down is players having proper spacing and defense.

ST is not the most balanced fighting game ever. I’ve heard it being called meta balanced and this makes sense. Technically you CAN counter about anything. Your Fei Long CAN wreck a top tier. But will you?

SSF2 is perhaps one of the most balanced games afaik. It is also boring as @#$!

DOA has potential as a fighting game in the areas it breaks ground in. It’s known for being a jiggle-boob expose but the actual engine has some very nice features. Movement, particularly walkspeed, is not terrible. This is a rather new thing in 3d games as the other two have horrendous walk speed and it is barely if ever use save for sidewalking in Tekken. The Sao/hands part of the game is actually apparent which gets rid of situations where you need a shoryuken like crush attack to get out of pressure/dealing with predictable moves, although sometimes I’m sure the players wish they had it. Another interesting thing is how it works on stuns for combos instead of raw launchers and how, because of the parry system, a player abuse even a ā€œuniversalā€ tactic.

DOA5’s demo looked really promising. Why? It did a lot of things I thought fighters should be doing at this point in time, especially DOA. The aesthetic was darker. The super anime announcer was gone and the lifebars were grey and understated. Hitomi wore these things called CLOTHES. Actual. Clothes. Like what you would wear in a fight. Camera angles would change during combos in a fight and they looked incredibly stylish. Damage was also really high. Not always the best thing but it really makes people think first if an ill taken risk blows them off a cliff into an exploding car.
…It then became something more of the same albeit with something different. It of course is much different from its predecessor.

I do have issues with the game though.

I don’t think CVS1 is a bad game. I very much like cvs1. It can be meh after a while but generally it gets me pretty hype.
It’s a pretty game and well presented.
I also used nakoruru. Dealwithit.jpg.

People should stop arguing over SSB.
"NO HADOKENS? NO SETUP LIKE I’M USED TO? NOT A FIGHTING GAME!"
So… It’s drastically different, and therefore not a fighting game even though the focus is fighting each other?

It is not a fighter in a super traditionalist sense. It does it’s own thing. It is it’s own thing.

Underground and Underground 2. After perhaps u or u2 they all just kinda became blegh. Downhill jam was a different one amongst a sea of u/u2 redos. Still not the best.

First, there should be a maximum number of Unpopular Opinions one can post at the same time… lol

About SSF2, it’s my favorite iteration of the SFII series.

It’s **slow **and methodical, like CE, but has more characters and options/extras/improvements: upball for Blanka, fireball for Chun-Li, teleport for Dhalsim, whiff animation for SPD for Zangief (altough none for T. Hawk, wich is stupid), etc, etc

And it has almost none of the bullshit that we have in ST: supers, overheads, juggles, Akuma as a SSSSSSS+++++ char, etc

Not to mention the clear difference in sprite design for some of the new animations (Ryu’s OH, Honda’s command throw, etc).

But if you find CE to be boring, I guess Super will be pretty boring for you as well.

I wish akuma was a SSSSSSSSSSSS++++++++ char in SSFIV maybe then I’d play it more instead of hating myself every time I log time into it.

I also wish there was a way for me to play third strike since everyone bitches that 3soe is poo (and fuck xbox live, get that bullshit out of here) and the GGPO 3s is really bad.

I hope I’m not one of those people that won’t ever like SF. Maybe ultra will be better.

this thread is boring without the like system

Guess we just need to post more volatile unpopular opinions.

I’ll start.

The Walking dead would’ve been better with Bioware making it with all their super great ā€˜mature’ romance options, and Clementine should be one of the romance options

Spoiler

This is a bigger lie/ruse than anything I have ever said before

Castlevania judgement had good fucking character design.

If The Walking Dead was made in Japan Clem would have been a romance option.

Unpopular Opinion

The walking dead should have hotter female leads.

Atari Jaguar is the best console ever

Half-life, Quake, Final Fantasy, Kingdom Hearts, Diablo, Pokemon, Castlevania, Metroid, Mario, Grand Theft Auto, Bioshock, and Ninja Gaiden are all the worst video game series on the planet.

Handhelds are for hipsters.

Platinum makes shitty games.

Blazblue and persona are for weeaboos.

AND you cant flag me for any of this
